Someone in the comments theorised that the 'delicate balance' of his mind (i.e Lucifer having to keep the evil spirit at bay) puts him at handicap, since there's effectively two separate battles he has to deal with.

This was in the comments. It's a valid idea, I think. That what makes Spender dangerous is something he really doesn't wanna use, not even as a last resort.

Well, it's probably the "most powerful spirit" that he defeated, so that figures.
Addendum: And he did use at least some of its power, with the shadow trick, didn't he? The potential for synergy between his two spirits, and the fact that he doesn't do anything with said potential, probably means he has a reason not to use the latter unless he has to, and probably never to anywhere near it's full potential.

spirit power hax are OP. I see what lucifer is doing now though, I'd missed the fact that he's using a version of what spender is currently doing to cage that dangerous spirit inside of him.

Given what spender and boss leader can do it's really no wonder that their keeping thunder shonen protagonist in the dark. Boy's dangerous.

Honestly, Forge came across as less of a bad guy in this fight. Spender was the one who started it, after all.
