Nah, this is just Spender. I am happy that we're touching back on his friendship with Zarei. It's one of my favorite bonds in the comic.
That theory was put to rest long ago IMO, unless you think Hijack
- knows Latin
- knows Spender's pretentious mannerisms
- knows the spectral thread technique
Also the last panel implies a memory of Zarei, and it's been established that Hijack doesn't have access to people's memories.
