Gah, can't get the picture to show up in this thread for whatever reason.

That is some REALLY BAD picture quality there.

Also, this is an Objective trope, right? Someone just deleted:

"Note: If you don't like people putting their personal opinions on the main page, move them to Troper Tales. Don't just dump them." with the explanation to "Dump away", but that's a different issue.

Anyone have some better quality pictures of Mikuru?

I could do the same with my DV Ds, but I don't even know what episode that's from, so thanks. :)

OK the grainy thing is intentional its from when Kyon was taking pictures of her [1] The scene is when haruhi stole Yuki's glasses ripped open Mikiru's shirt and made her cry for the "Perfect Moe look" as she called it.

Other images from that Scene [2][3][4].

I would really recommend not changing it from Mikiru though that is an a major edit war in the making.

Ok, the 2nd picture there SHOWS that it's a camera that she is being looked through. At least that makes sense. I do agree that she should be the trope picture though.

Third picture is best, since it shows her being a weak, sad beanbag that has to be held by someone else stronger than her.

3rd pic is best for the overall effect, but how much of Haruhi should we leave in the pic?

Considering the context, as little as possible?

The reason we have this discussion in the first place is because the image is grainy due to camera effects. Isn't that image just as grainy? And, when cropped, contains just as much information (none) about why it is grainy (camera effects)?

Raso, if you have your B Ds handy, try to grab a shot of her cowering in episode 1 right after entering the club room.

I'd do it, but I have trouble capping from B Ds, and I never got around to downloading rips.

[up][up] Because with the other picture, you can clearly see that it's a camera that you're looking through. You can see the battery life icon in the corner and the camera data up top.

Yes, but for a minute there we're contemplating cropping it.

Unless you want to have it whole and shrink it, in which case this is what we'll get. Leaves much to be desired in its details (it shows the trope all right).

hmm. The camera details come out a lot harder to see when it's shrunk.

Yes indeed, although you can argue that the battery icon drives the point home anyway.

We could just shop the battery icon into the current image.

Is the "shot through a camera" aspect really necessary?

^It's to explain the graininess, I assume, but I don't really think it's needed.

It's not, but the initial reason for the discussion was because the image is grainy. I'm under the impression that it's perhaps best not to change it if that can be remedied without much fuss, since it would potentially open the floodgates.

After all, this is one of those tropes where everyone wants their favourite character to be the page image.

I like that camera effect; can you do it on the pic where Haruhi's squeezing her for comparison's sake?

Please, just update with the shopped battery icon.

It's a good image. All the other ones are also good. So just stick with he current one. Even if we would limit ourselves to Mikuru, it would be one of those long, pointless, subjective debates of which specific picture is the most moe.

I like the shopped battery image. it does a good job of explaining the grainy and we don't have arguments about what image is the most moe.
