Nope. As it is I'm still waiting for somebody to make a sequel to Dai Senryaku VII: Modern Military Tactics. The game was about as graphically simple as you could get, but sweet baby Jesus was that thing replayable! Too bad nobody around here knows about it...

Does Civilization count?
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comTotal War, and recently Europa Universalis. I've also played King Arthur: The Roleplaying Wargame briefly; got smashed in the first chapter in my first game; it was on hard.

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books. Also Gal Civ 2.
And Master of Magic, if that counts.

LOL. You played that on hard? Do you also smash yourself in the balls with a hammer? That's a game you play on normal if feeling masochistic.
Seriously, though, it's a great game. Lower the difficulty and try again.

Grand Strategy probably refers to games where the gameplay takes place on an absolutely massive scale, seeking to replicate what its like for a nation to really go to war. Examples would be the Hearts of Iron games (World War 2) and Europa Universalis or whatever, which is during the middle ages. It could also mean the Total War-style games which I believe are "true" strategy games.

Like Europa Universalis III. Anyone play these games?
