So how good is the Wii balance board?

I'm looking for an exercise method that is available at home and easy to get over with. My long-time ally, Stepmania, is becoming unbearably monotonous. A friend suggested an mp3 player, audiobooks and walks, which is a good idea but I endanger traffic badly enough already.

Could those of you who have used the board answer any of these questions? Thanks!

1. The balance board seems like a fun toy, but is it useful for actual exercise? Do calories burn?

2. Have you found Wii Fit, or whatever game you use with the board, to stay fresh or does it get unbearably repetitive?

3. Is it fun?

4. Wii Fit seems to come with a BMI index, exercise programs, and other aids. Are these any good?

5. Does the board wear out quickly? Should I get an used one?

6. Can I use it on the ground floor of a dorm?

7. A two-headed calf was born into our chief's herds! The clan's cow priestess says that this sometimes happens naturally and is not always Chaos. Should we trust our luck or sacrifice to the Storm Bull for protection?

If it's for Wii Fit, it's pretty good. Other things? Not so good.

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!

Well, also Wii Fit plus. But I think there's a snowboarding game that makes great use of it, I can't remember what it's called.

Maybe?..... I think it was a cartoony one though.....one that came out at the same time as Wii Fit. The review said it was good.

Family Ski (AKA We Ski, I can't remember which title is the Japanese one and which one is Western) also uses Balance Board AND Wiimote/Nunchuk.

There's not too much jumping up and down like a madman on the balance board, so I don't think you'd bother people in your dorm.
