You really should read which thing you put the trope in.

I thought this would be a trope that actually involved people getting to a point in the investigation where they get blocked by a need for a warrant i.e. that thing that happens on tv at least twice a week on every other channel in the English speaking world.
I immediately thought of the phrase "Tip Of The Iceberg" but that is the name of a work.
Not seeing much reason for a rename. The Wick count aint tremendous, but not abyssimally low either. Could use a few redirect, but without any misuse, not seeing much case to rename
There is no misuse, but the name still focuses on only the most common use of the trope, which is why I'd prefer the redirect as the main title.
Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist.Yes, but as it's been said time and time again, renaming is a last option. I don't see sufficient cause for a rename. "It could be better" is not sufficient.
It's less than three months old. It it quite popular.
No it's not. It's more than a YEAR and a half old.
It's old enough it has an archived discussion page from before the new discussion pages were implemented.
It's so old it's YKTTW no longer exists.

"I immediately thought of the phrase "Tip Of The Iceberg" but that is the name of a work."
Um, that's a stock phrase, which the work was likely named for, which is allowed for trope names.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Bump.
Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist.I wouldn't mind a rename. The current name is kind of confusing, especially if you're like me and don't know enough about North American police procedure to be sure whether some sort of "bigger warrant" would actually be necessary to investigate the bigger plot.
I'm neutral. Either trope name works for me.
Yeah, rename by swapping with redirect. A Far More Sinister Plot is a much better name, and that's really all that's required.
Especially with overly-narrow names, which aren't likely to cause obvious misuse; instead, they tend to fail to get used when they should.
We rename tropes that don't have any obvious misuse all the time. Misuse is a glaring emergency that requires an immediate rename, but it's only one of many reasons why a trope might be renamed. "This name is clearly better" is another valid reason!

But only when usage is low.
Rhymes with "Protracted."I'd say it's low enough, considering it only got 50 wicks in more than a year. I've probably seen more than 50 shows where this happens.
Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist.Part of the problem is that this is nearly an Omnipresent Trope in any cop- or detective-focused work, or any work with a plot focused around resolving a mystery. The Stakes Are Always Bigger might be another useful redirect.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"This page still only has 67 wiks but I'm not sure either of the names are that great.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickHow about something like Minor Crime Reveals Major Plot?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.That's not bad.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickBlinding clarity does seem like an obvious way to combat underuse (which I agree we're seeing here). This gets my support. There does seem to be a little doubt about the rename, though, so, should we hook up a single-prop crowner?

Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.I'm happy with it.
Fight smart, not fair.^^
Thanks. I'm not so good at coming up with witty titles, but blinding clarity I can do easily.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.This one needs some blinding clarity. Wit isn't working for it. Should we go ahead and do the rename or should I make a crowner?

Crown Description:
Previous crowner showed consensus support for a rename.
A Far More Sinister Plot - the redirect for Gonna Need A Bigger Warrant - strikes me as a better overall name for the concept behind this trope. That and many examples are of non-official investigations, which don't exactly make use of warrants. Can we make Gonna Need A Bigger Warrant the redirect instead?
