...Wow he's tiny
(-Ducks for cover-)
Nooo, Mustang and Armstrong participated in the destruction of Ishbal? now they're a bit less awesome. Who's that other guy though...seems like a real nutter
I take it back, Mustang is still awesome.
I stared wide-eyed at the screen when I found out that the dead doctors were Winry's parents
And now I'm trying to find the 2nd ED and can't find it anywhere
Just what are Lust and company? I know they're "homonculi" (you can't spend time on this website without being spoiled on bits of a series as popular as this one) but I'm waiting to know just...what..they are. They're definitely not human.

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonYou're going to find out soon.
Roy Mustang will always be awesome!
"YOU SHALL FEEL THE FLOWER'S WRATH"I like 2003's 2nd ending too, but it got copyrighted to hell and unlike Brotherhood's endings, no one bothers to reupload it.
Non Indicative UsernameThis posting technique has been passed down the Link line for generations!
Armstrong is rapidly rising in my list of favorite characters
The philosopher's stone is people! I legitimately did not see that coming

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas Edison(Doublepost apologies, I just wanted to bump the thread up a little)
It's a neat twist, but how does Ed make the logic leap from "Marcoh's note suggests that there's more to this" to "The government is running a secret Philosopher's Stone lab"?
Also please tell me that there's a good Harry Potter crossover fic out there somewhere because of the Philosopher's Stone connection
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonMarco's research and creation of the Philospher's Stone was done under the watchful eye of the government and Edward deduced Marco's research must have been carried out at the supposedly defunct Fifth Labratory because its convenient location next to the prison. If there was any other secrets to be had outside the research notes then logically that would be the place to investigate.

Makes sense, but "the truth behind truths" could have meant a lot of other things, like the final Stone ingredient being human lives?
Nice deduction on Ed's part though. Guy's smarter than he looks
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonHuman lives was already baked into Marco's research notes, the revelation of such is why the brothers get into a funk before talking to Armstrong about it and deducing there has to be more information in Laboratory Five.

And now Al's going to go have the identity crisis I really should have seen coming isn't he
I'm wondering if I'm not following the plot correctly, because there are a few details I can't quite connect the dots on. Loving it though.
EDIT: Got spoiled by some jerk on a completely unrelated page who forgot to spoiler tag

Non Indicative UsernameRIP best running gag character who was also just cool
(What's the spoiler tag policy here?)
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonIf you think anything needs being spoilered, just do so. Although Hughes being forcefully retired was one of almost common knowledge.
I legitimately had no idea
Shows how much I know
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas Edison
Props to you man. I think that's something that's pretty hard not to be spoiled on.
I can't remember if I knew or not. I might have heard it before I watched the show, but either forgot, or didn't remember the name of the character, which made it still pretty big for me.
Which version are you watching again? There's a slight difference between the Manga / Brotherhood version and the 2003 version.
One Strip! One Strip!I'm watching the 2003 version.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonAh.
Then at least you got to see him get a hit in.
We'll ignore the fact that Envy might have let it happen and take solace in the fact that he went down swinging.
One Strip! One Strip!I'm just furious at Envy right now. I can't forgive anyone who kills Hughes
The brothers don't know yet, do they? (I'm on episode 27 and this is a rhetorical question pls don't spoil me)

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonI can't recall exactly when they learn. But I think it will take a while.
One Strip! One Strip! They learn sooner in Brotherhood than they do in 2003, which in my eyes makes Brotherhood superior in that regard.
You're almost at the point of divergence, at any rate, though there have been some huge changes already.

Oh God! Natural light! This jumped out at me. It becomes very relevant much, much later in the manga/Brotherhood.
Problem for me was that I was reading the manga over several years, and by this time I had entirely forgotten about him.
Be aware that 2003 may raise questions it never answers, because it lifts the early story from the well-planned manga, then adds its own resolution long before Arakawa got to giving her own answers.

Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.I don't remember much of 2003 but it may handle things rather inconsistently.
@Link 2003's openings and endings are hard to find (in part because Brotherhood's OP and ED are covered like there's no tomorrow), but there's some sweet 2003 instrumental covers for them here.

Non Indicative Username@Reymma: I was half-joking with that statement
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonEpisode 30 now
What exactly does Ed want with the kid homonculus? Like, it's clear what the military, Izumi, and Team Homonculi want, but I'm not really sure what Ed wants out of this.
Also the number of different sides in this story is starting to grow out of control lol
