I mean, god damn, you need to clearly signpost when you're going to go Knight of Cerebus that hard. That is some fucked up shit...

I felt the same way when I read it in the manga. Caught me completely off-guard.

Then I got to the episode about the science guy and his attempt to create a talking chimera and WHAT THE GOD DAMN HELL SHOW. I mean, god damn, you need to clearly signpost when you're going to go Knight of Cerebus that hard. That is some fucked up shit...

I'm not sure how shocking this really was when the premise involves two children who tried to resurrect their dead mother.

For whatever its worth, Brotherhood doesn't really get that dark again. Brotherhood goes for a more intense, action-y mood, compared to 2003.

the series lightens up for a little bit before the whole shou tucker thing though. plus it's a shounen story, unless it's like hunterxhunter or something subjects like that aren't usually presented in such a chilling, horrifying fashion.

What sad is that Scar only murders the hell out of him in the Mangahood.

Cause lets face it, Tucker needs to die in every world, just like Sayaka.

Fixed.

That was a serious blunder, and Basque Grand pretty much extorted the guy to wits end, he clearly didn't want to do that and even he didn't believe his justification.

...And then poor Nina got killed before he could try to set it right...he ended getting used and pawned away and self mutated trying...and failing to ever properly atone.

[down][down] Sorry. Fixed.

Wait, did you mean that Sayaka dies in every world, or that she deserves to?

Episode 8 is the one with pre-Barry, right?

there's nothing wrong with her per se, but urobuchi basically said she was destined to die every single time homura turned back the clock.

Not quite.

I believe he said it's only if she contracted. He really wanted to drive home that she can't be a good Magical Girl since he seems to have problems with people actively seeking to be heroes (I guess he thinks they are fake or deceiving themselves or something).

But we got a bit off topic here, thanks to me.

Who wanted to see more of Greeds full Ultimate Shield? I know I did, and I hated the fact that he rarely used it.

They're talking about Puella Magicka Madoka, for anyone also wondering.

What sad is that Scar only murders the hell out of him in the Mangahood. Cause lets face it, Tucker needs to die in every world.

While still a man who corrupted his own daughter, 2003 made him immortal and left him cuddling his daughter's corpse inside an abandoned laboratory by the end of it, didn't it?

It bugged me how the first Greed didn't use it often, but that only made Wrath more badass because he knew how to amputate his Greed's arms in order to keep him from armor'ing up.

Greed is weird in that while I think he went out too early in the first anime, his brotherhood incarnation kind of annoyed me in how he became a good guy and I can't say I'm a fan of the whole Greed-Ling dynamic, as it felt cheap. He's one of my favorite characters but I was never satisfied with how he turned out in the story.

Though his fight with Ed was badass and the fact he clobbers Ed first meeting was awesome. His little gang was cool too.

Really most of the homunculi I prefer in the 2003 anime, but especially Lust and Envy.

[up] Did you feel anything that was different in Manga/Brotherhood, wasn't cheap?

And it make sense for Greed to turn to hero side considering Greed was never cutout for being evil.

Oh, Greed was cutout for being evil, it's just that Father was so evil that anyone who opposed him came out looking like a good guy.

From what I recall the worst thing Greed morally did, was kill Bido, which he rage in angst and immediately regret. Maybe it might be stretch to call him a good guy, but he's far from evil.

He also kidnapped Al and was perfectly willing to use threats of violence to get what he wants. Greed always struck me as one of those characters who can be a great friend to people he knows, but has no real empathy or regard for strangers.

In the manga, he showed multiple scenes of treating Al well. Even chatting to him an a incredibly friendly manor. And in a comical scene where he thought Ed died, due to misplace words on Al's part, he genuinely felt sorry for Al thinking he lost his brother.

He also treats his minion incredibly well, and went ballistic on Wrath when he killed them and another time when he remember he killed them in his 2nd form.

I never got the impression the First Greed in Brotherhood was that good of a person. He was mad Bradley killed his minions because they were his. In short, he was pissed because Bradley took away his toys, not because he legitimately cared about them.

It was only Greedling when he became a more clear-cut good guy in my view.

Or that could have been the way he saw it, cause even he didn't realize how much he valued them.

I mean, Ling did essentially make him realize he wanted friends.

In fact, considering Greed's Noble Demon status among the Homonculi, and that Father was much nicer during the brief time the latter was back inside him, Greed might be the Dwarf's own goodness and better characteristics. I mean, the desire for Friendship is a type of Greed as well right?

Greed did argue that point. It's all "I want"

"I want power!", or "I want to rule the world!", or "I want to save my friends!"
