It's a pretty obtuse name anyway.
Huh. And here I though this had to do with actual kings.
Song titles are generally exempt from the "shared with a work" rule, but a rename on the basis of the title being unclear/probably ought to be belonging to a different trope might be valid.
Clarification: songs do not normally get their own pages but share their page with the artist, so the "work and trope name overlap" rule doesn't apply. However, it's possible for musical works to become tropes of their own as a form of mood setting like Carmina Burana and a lot of other Ominous Latin Chanting. This might hold true for songs that don't have known authors as well. I am unclear on that.
The current name is terrible though. Unless somebody can prove it's a pre-existing term, I'm inclined to support a rename.
Fight smart, not fair. The trope name is wrong anyway, since the title of the work referenced changes according to whether the British monarch is male or female — currently it's God Save The Queen.
How about Plagiarism as the trope title? Or is that too strong/accusatory a term?
No on Plagiarism two big reasons and a small one:
- It's already a page.
- These aren't Plagiarism — taking someone else's work and passing it off as your own without attribution or credit.
- "Plagiarism" is far too accusatory.
This is simply setting different words to the same melody.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.One Song To The Tune Of Another? Or is that too narrow?
The child is father to the man —OedipusWell... God Save The King is the most famous example. But I think a better name would be a good idea.

I doubt it's actualy the "most famous example" when all the times I've heard it, it's in the context of "hey, did you know?" rather than As You Know.
I was thinking this would be a British thing... completely completely wrong damn. +1 for a rename. Same Tune Different Song?
I think I get the trope now but I must be tone def or something because looking at some of the examples I dont see it in some of them. likethese they have some stuff in common but not nearly as much as the trope describes.
Does Robo's them from Chrono Trigger vs Rickroll count? Its been stated that its a 100% unintentional but just listen to it.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Yeah thats it, Sorry.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!How about One Song To The Tune Of Another?
That said, Same Song Differnt Lyrics isn't bad.
I was actually expecting that there would be a preexisting term for this, but I couldn't find one.

I kinda like To the Tune of.... I think it captures our quirkiness better. And it is sorta an existing term: when you see the lyrics to one of these songs, it's often marked "To the tune of [more popular song]."
Everyone Has An Important Job To DoTo the Tune of... suggests filking.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickCall and start rename crowner?
You mean an alternate title crowner. The rename crowner was linked and called in favour of a rename. Updated.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAlmost 3 weeks, and very few votes here. Anyone else feel like chiming in, or shall we call it and do the work?
I've done the initial move. Wicks are still undone.
Please don't redirect until all other steps in renaming have been completed.
Fight smart, not fair.Old name had archived discussion. Moved it.
Wiks changed.

Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
I realize the relevance, but it's not notably searchable. I would suggest a Rename Swap with X To The Tune Of Y, or just rename it To the Tune of....
EDIT: It's been pointed out a couple of times that the clash rule doesn't apply, but the name is too specific and imprecise. I don't know if there's any misuse, however.
