And apparently we can add Orcs Must Die and Dungeon Defenders to the Dueling Movies list, because their fans already have. Both of the games' forums have a thread where both games' fans bitch about the other one for no explicable reason.
Dungeon Defenders is very very different.
Jonah Falconwhen has that ever stopped fans from comparing things?

XP granted for befriending a giant magical spider!I agree. Orcs Must Die is physics-driven and awesome fun. Dungeon Defenders is level- and equipment-driven and hasn't been released yet.
And yet somehow, the idea got out that hey, both of these are character-driven defence-based combat games! That means that ONE MUST BE BETTAR!!
Uh, actually, Dungeon Defenders has been out since last year on iOS devices (and quite possibly Android devices), it's the PC version we've been waiting on (I've had it on my Steam wishlist since January, whereas Orcs Must Die was a pleasant surprise that showed up on the Steam frontpage about a week before release).
That said, I do have a copy of DD for the iOS, and OMD for Steam, and I will agree that the two games have only a little in common, and as such, no real reason for a major rivalry (outside of the whole "two games in the same basic genre being released on the same platforms at roughly the same time" thing, but some of that is natural).

Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownThey compared Space Marine to Gears Of War despite having completely different gameplay styles. I've heard people call Devil May Cry a God Of War ripoff. I once met someone that couldn't tell the difference between Ninja Gaiden and Tenchu.
If anything, this rivalry makes more sense than the norm. Not that i like it.
Anyways, I seem to find it difficult to understand how the scoring system works. I've gotten better scores for winning by a hair's breadth than i have for completely dominating the orcs.
I'm going to buy this game the very minute enough money lands in my paypal account.
Oddly enough, it seems weirdly optimized for the PC. Or at least my PC. I turned the graphical detail to low and it began running faster... But the visuals got an upgrade. Flat "What".

Second DLC pack announced.
Awesome! Some new levels! I blazed through the old ones way too quickly. I completed the game in about three hours (!) although the nightmare mode is giving me much tougher resistance thanks in no small part to some Fake Difficulty. No breathers? No guardian revives? Really?
What the game really needs is a survival mode, and a level builder.
And a sequel.
Where you play as the sorceress.
And kill elves, fairies and dwarves.
Not allowing for single core processor makes my pathetic computer a sad panda. On the other hand I am overdue for an upgrade...
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.
