So this is Shadow's first playable appearance with the boost-style gameplay, right?

Well, he had the boost in Generations.

Hmmm I think there;s something I DON'T like about this game's 2D sections.

It feels like the camera is panned out too much which takes away from some of the action. Also making this DLC seems pretty crappy IMO despite it being kind of cool. Would be neat if it let you play shadow in the regular stages too but I doubt it.

They just said on the last page that you can play shadow in the normal stages

It's free and you along with the 3 stages. He can be played in 10 of Modern Sonic's stages.

It's probably DLC because it was made after the game was shipped out - which would mean that if the devs were to work on anything, it would have to be applied through digital means. They probably thought "Hey Shadow's pretty cool, and we think Infinite could really use some fleshing out in his backstory, let's make some more stuff."

Of course, if it's on-disc DLC that's inexcusable.

It's free so who cares.

This game suffers the same problems with its 2D sections as Colors. They are dull as sin, and even worse, they take up a majority of the level.

I really wish they'd take more cues from Unleashed and Generations if they're going with the Boost style.

Eh, I see no problem with it since I played Colors and I thought it was fun.

I'm still going to reserve judgement until the damn game actually comes out, thank you very much.

You didn't have to say it like that...

You having fun and the game's design are two entirely different things.

People had fun playing Sonic 06, but are you gonna tell me that's a well designed game too?

I had, and still do to an extent, fun with SA 2, but I can admit that game is a mess design wise.

Fun =/= Good game design.

What I meant was that he shouldn't be judging the game before it comes out. Which is pretty much what I said in the first place.

He's judging what is shown in the trailer...which is fine.

If nobody is allowed to judge a game based on pre release footage that has been publicly revealed, then how are people supposed to understand if the game is worth buying or not?

You do understand that's the idea behind preview impressions right? Why are you so defensive when I'm not doing anything different from what sites like IGN or Gamespot do when they cover the demo of an upcoming game? It's somehow wrong to critique early footage now?

No seriously Yakuzu, just by design and you're guessing the game will be disappointing barring the other levels and story? You really need to see how can games be successful other than design.

I'm...honestly not seeing that much wrong with the stage design though.

Yeah, I mean, he talks about it like if its already happening in the game even though it's only two months away. Judging early can be fine as long as you can take other aspects other than fucking design.

The stuff shown in the trailer...is flat, blocky, platforming sections, a repeated platform formation, a bunch of out of place boxes, and obviously homing attack chains.

There isn't even any of the usual cinematic flair that Sonic usually has.

Just...try to see more beyond those pet peeves of yours man and see that the new has something to charm you instead of the nostalgic past which is getting overrated.

Pet Peeve isn't the correct word...especially since randomness doesn't feel positive towards Boost.

But usually a "cinematic" feel is a sense of automation accompanied by a unique camera angle and something actually cool happening.

So no, it's not cinematic.

So luigifan, what you're basically saying is I'm not allowed to dislike the game prematurely, but you're allowed to gush about it prematurely.

Think back to any speed stage from SA1 up to Generations and how flashy and full of style they were. That's what he meant. Obviously.

This thread is becoming the polar opposite of SSMB as far as Sonic discourse.

He wants to look forward to the game, let him. And on that note, you can count me in on the "let's see how it is when it comes out" camp.

Oh, as for the "we haven't seen a lot of the stages" complaint, I would argue that it's because the other stages could be considered spoiler territory.
