The Heavies varied in difficulty in some off ways. In general, there didn't always feel like a strong difficulty progression with the bosses. Heavy Shinobi is easier than the ones before him, as is Magician.

If not, well, tough cookies.

Really? I found Shinobi to be tougher than Gunner, if only because of the unintuitive way you have to fight him.

Yup.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Yes.
Reminds me how in Copy Kitty the skyscraper-sized orbital mecha that shoots lasers and the Metaknight expie with a drill are both females in their character bios. Otherwise, you'd have not even the vaguest idea.
While I agree Metal Sonic is a weak fight and maybe even among the worst renditions in the series that fight is SO much easier when you realize you don't have to aim the minisilvers, just spin dash into them as they're revving up and they will automatically ricochet into metal. Using this that part takes no more than 20-30 seconds.
As for the Heavies, they're cool enough but I think most of their fights could've been more intuitive. Magician was easy but had the coolest fight. Ninja's was toughest but was kind of tricky to figure out. Gunner's fight was thematically great but poorly executed as the borked physics make it harder than should be, since it plays like a worse version of the Sadv 2 boss battles. Knight's battle I honestly never knew what I was doing and I'm not even sure how to beat him despite beating him 3 times already, it's not an intuitive battle though the music fits great and the YAAAY confetti is hilarious. Monarch was underwhelming.
Their theme music is cool at least, and I like them more than Orbot and Cubot.

Sonic Forces receives E10+ rating
90% of the plot consists of Infinite kicking Sonic around like a golf ball.
When is Forces due anyway?
I bet Iizuka and crew are sweating their necks off since the pressure for Forces to be good just got that much bigger with Mania's success. Otherwise they'll be shamed hard.

The only thing wrong with the Gunner boss fight seems to be the physics...
Looks a bit difficult to jump over the missiles because it pushes you back...
But rolling into the blue missles to damage it is pretty simple.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I don't believe it's been announced.
Honestly, they should be. I hope Mania's success makes them think good and hard about Forces and the time they have left. It's not too late.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh. One source listed November 7th iirc, which would be in line with other releases.

It occurs to me that speed runners are going to have quite a time trying to do Stardust Speedway's boss efficiently. That first phase just goes on and on if you can't time the hits correctly.
Also, Stardust Speedway in general just seems kind of over-designed and noisy. Hard to see where you're going sometimes.
Hydrocity is also shaping up to be another sticky wicket for me.
Not trying to be overly negative about the game, mind. But they do overdo it sometimes.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectSpeedrunning is all about doing actions with near perfect timing so I don't see how that'd be any different.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!First reaction: "wait a second, that's not Dr. Dre..."
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Yeah the speedrunning community shouldn't have any problems with that fight. The only possible issue would be RNG, and the first phase of Metal Sonic doesn't really have that.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I already mentioned about SS's boss earlier. That part can be done very quickly, in under 20 seconds easy reliably.
It does have RNG, at least partially. I've also noted before that no attempt to reflect Silver Sonic is guaranteed to hit him, not even the proposed spindash strategy: some will fly wildly off base not matter what you do. In my experience doing so, they can miss perfectly well.
At one point I had a spectacular hit off the spindash that ricoched wildly about the stage before bouncing so far higher than Metal that he spawned another one, leading me to think it was just deleted after going out of bounds, only for it to come back down to the ground over a minute later. Admittedly, a really awesome and hilarious moment. For added hilarity, it still missed the second time around.
That said, it's probably not random. But if not, then it does still require either geometry or luck to do quickly. And either way, I'm with the sentiment that it would be a better fight if it were more difficult and less tedious. Of all the battles in the game, it seems the least well designed no matter how you slice it.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I think it might have been better and more intuitive if, instead of bouncing them, we had to bounce off of them into Metal instead. I'm sorry, but it's what first occurred to me in the fight to try.
Yeah, that's my point. Sometimes you can spindash into them. Sometimes they jump over you instead, and sometimes you can hit them square and they still miss. I imagine that a good speed runner will have fewer issues, but it's a bit tricky to do all that reliably while also dodging the projectiles.
The Chemical Plant boss at least doesn't time you, because yeesh.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI just started Mania (haven't got past Flying Battery yet), but I kinda hate the Gunner fight because it's not at all intuitive that jumping on red missiles hurt you, but jumping on blue missiles not only doesn't harm you, but it is in fact required to defeat the boss.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.That's probably the most obvious thing about that fight...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. It’s amazing how blatantly unfun the oil ocean boss is for Knuckles.
The sad part is that he never actually learns either.
