I remember only the first Adventure getting really repetitive with the sound quotes (par maybe Generations final boss of course). It's a shame cause it ruined the tension in some, especially Tails' final boss (they could have at least repeated some of Eggman's more sinister quotes for it).
Adventure 2 had unique quotes for nearly every time you hit the boss, to the point it was actually hard to make out all of them.
I think the Wii and PS 2 Unleashed used stock quotes more often, which again was a shame, the HD Egg Dragoon had way more tension ('Stubborn little pincushion, give up and die already!!!')

@Lord, last page: Well, some pictures and GI Fs posted on the Sonic Twitter have some odd numbers on them. They had a recent pic with the Game Grumps where there was a small row of numbers along the bottom.
And if you look through the replies on this one, some people spotted some similar numbers in the GIF.
Also, 3 of the numbers in the first pic I posted appears here as a date, so the numbers 3 and 21 are the only ones unaccounted for.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThankfully Freedom Planet doesn't have this problem. Most bosses say something once and don't do it again. And when stuff does get repeated, it's usually an important sound cue.
I find it more hilarious than annoying.

I mean, I find the constant battle dialog in Xenoblade more endearing than annoying, and that's much more incessant than Eggman's banter if you're annoyed by it.
"I've got a good rhythm going!"
"Yeah, Shulk! Get stuck in!"
"Give me some space! Heal Round!"
"Feels like a FLY bit me!"
...
"You'll pay for your insolence! You'll pay for your insolence! You'll pay for your insolence! You'll pay for your insolence! You'll pay (etc.)"
Why do people keep comparing Freedom Planet to Sonic
Because it has so many similarities and it was a Sonic fan game at one point and it has a story.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Keyword: "at one point"
Yeah but that just means it's an official game now, a lot of the design elements still come from Classic Sonic.
While keeping it's own style it has Sonic like level design and physics.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.TL;DR: It's a highly Sonic-influenced game made by Sonic fans in a style fans of the Genesis Sonic games tend to enjoy (or even Genesis fans in general—I've heard it described as basically the Genesis equivalent of what Shovel Knight does for NES games). Obviously, the comparisons are going to be there.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. Not to mention FP was the best Sonic Game of 2015 :P
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!-throws spaghetti-
It's amusing because fans that just took a look at the trailer and never played it bash it as a Sonic knockoff, and those that do tend to respond with "it's one of the best Sonic games in years". That or go nuts with the Gunstar Heroes nostalgia.
Me personally after playing FP, the classic games feel really jerky and imprecise. Marble Zone and Final feel awkward, and in a game that was heavily touted as being insanely fast, you really only get to do that in Green Hill and Starlight, and even then you have to earn it.
Speaking of earning your speed, some people use that as their point of why they like the old games, compared to the instant speed gratification of a boost button.
...
"earning VS instant gratification" pops up often in discussions about older games vs newer games.
Wellp, I still like Sonic 2, 3&K, Adventure 1&2, Generations.
I would add more to the list, but I haven't played that many.
Yes, I played Sonic 1 and it was ok, but 2 and 3 just overshadow it.
Well it mostly comes up because of challenge difference.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I know it's the joke. I'm pointing out that they had a better setup for it.
Moon◊So, is it safe to say that the Sonic series is already showing signs of becoming a financial white elephant for Sega, or at least hitting another big slump? The Sonic 4 sub-series got cancelled after Episode 2 flopped in downloadable sales. Sonic Lost World got very mixed reviews and flopped in sales. Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (and Shattered Crystal) was a critical and commercial disaster and was outsold by some of Sega's own titles and destroyed the company that it was outsourced too (Big Red Button). And now Sega has announced that Sonic Runners was also a flop in downloadable sales...

Is it safe to say that water is wet?
To be fair about Runners, it was super easy to pirate.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Wow, that's quite balanced.

I remember I went a good way into the Unleashed unaware that you could boost into bosses repeatedly for extra damage. I just the bosses were supposed to be long. Though funnily enough, after I found out and tried it I felt it made the bosses to easy.
