I know that the HD system ports make time travelling in Quartz Quadrant harder since you can't get time travel off the vertical conveyors like in the originals.
I suck at special stages as well. Heroes and Sonic 1 are the only ones I can get them all legit, Mainly because they're easy.
Which levels are your favorite and least favorite for each game?
- Sonic 1: Labyrinth Zone(favorite), Spring Yard(least favorite)
- Sonic 2: Oil Ocean, Wing Fortress
- Sonic CD: Wacky Workbench, Collision Chaos
- Sonic 3: Ice Cap, Marble Hill
- Sonic and Knuckles: Lava Reef, Death Egg
- Sonic Advance 1: Hidden Base, Neo Green Hill
- Sadv 2: either Music plant or Hot Crater, Leaf Forest
- Sadv 3: Twinkle Snow or Chaos Angel, Toy Kingdom though it's grown on me a lot.
- Sonic Rush: Aquatic Palace, altitude freakin limit
- Sonic Rush Adventure: Ghost ship, actually as far as I'm concerned SRA has no actual bad levels, they're all good. I guess Coral Cave is my least favorite.
Just for the 2D or the 3D games as well?
EDIT: Actually, I'll just do for both anyways.
Sonic the Hedgehog 1: Green Hill Zone/Labyrinth Zone
Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Chemical Plant Zone/Metropolis Zone
Sonic the Hedgehog CD: Don't remember much of this, sorry.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3: Marble Garden Zone/Carnival Night (Not because of the barrel, but I just didn't really care for it)
Sonic and Knuckles: Sky Sanctuary Zone/Mushroom Hill Zone, I guess?
Sonic Adventure: Sky Deck (Sonic)/Ice Cap (Big)
Sonic Adventure 2: Final Rush/Mad Space
Sonic Heroes: Power Plant (Team Sonic)/Mystic Mansion (Team Chaotix)
Shadow the Hedgehog: Sky Troopes/Lost Impact
Sonic 2006: Crisis City (Sonic)/End of the World
Sonic Unleashed: Having not played the HD version...Rooftop Run (Daytime)/Eggmaland (Night)
Sonic Colors: Starlight Carnival Act 1/Something from Aquatic Park
Sonic Generations: Modern Crisis City/Classic Planet Wisp
Sonic Rush: Water Palace/Dead Line
Sonic Rush Adventure: Sky Babylon/Can't think of any
Sonic and the Secret Rings: Night Palace/Pirate Level

Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)IIRC the mobile remakes are compatible with bluetooth controllers at least on Android.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Well, without a doubt my favourite level of all time is Sky Road, Act 2, from Sonic Lost World.
Though the entire Ice Zone from that game can melt away for all I care. >:|

I do writing, feel free to check out my stories here! https://numbugwritingblog.tumblr.com/post/686233243868102656/numbugs-shared-heroic-uniI meant Marble Garden. I tend to mix my zone names up lol. But it's a bit of a slog, the music is just sort of whatever and the boss is a bit annoying if neat conceptually.
- Sonic Adventure: Speed Highway or Red Mountain, any of big's levels
- SA 2: Green Forest(amazing music), the driving levels(especially on missions ughhhh)
- Sonic Heroes: Hang Castle, Final Fortress.
- Sonic Colors: Sweet Mountain, asteroid coaster
- Generations: Rooftop Modern, Wisp Classic.
Hmm... Favorite/Unfavorite?
- Sonic 1: Fav: Maybe Spring Yard. I can hardly remember any of the stages past Marble Zone, but I do remember liking that. Unfav - Marble Zone. I typically get bored and leave before or immediately after beating it when replaying, so I rarely see the rest of the game.
- Sonic CD: Fav: Wacky Workbench. Unfav - Collision Chaos.
- Sonic 2: Fav: Hill Top. Don't ask me why. I'm actually not sure. Unfav - Wing Fortress.
- Sonic 3: Fav: Launch Base. Unfav - Carnival Night, though not specifically because of the barrel. I didn't think it fired most of its gimmicks well.
- Sonic & Knuckles: Fav - Flying Battery Act 2. Unfav - ...
- Sonic 3D Blast: Fav - Spring Stadium. Unfav - Volcano Valley.
- Sonic Adventure: Fav - Sky Deck, all characters, final answer (still hoping this comes back in a hypothetical Generations 2). Unfav - Casinopolis as a kid (alas, I didn't have my love for pinball back then, so all I had was the dislike for grinding that Pokemon hadn't yet dulled at the time). Twinkle Park now.
- Sonic Adventure 2:
- Speed: Fav - Final Rush or Metal Harbor. Unfav - Pyramid Cave.
- Shooting: Fav - Cosmic Wall or Sand Ocean. Unfav - All of Tails' levels.
- Treasure: Fav - Pumpkin Hill. I can sense it in my feet. Unfav - Mad Space.
- Heroes: Still have yet to play it fully. Of what I did play, I recall liking either Frog Forest or Lost Jungle.
- Unleashed: Fav - Atopos. Unfav: Empire City, Adabat.
- Sonic 4-1: Fav - Casino Street Act 2. Unfav - Mad Gear.
- Sonic 4-2: Fav - White Park. Unfav - Sylvania Castle
- Colors: Fav - Varies. Parts of Planet Wisp, Asteroid Coaster and Starlight Carnival. Unfav - Sweet Mountain.
- Generations: Fav - Mod. Rooftop Run, Cla. Sky Sanctuary. Unfav - Planet Wisp, I guess. And some of the missions.
- Lost World: Fav - Sky Road. Unfav - Ice World.
I try not to count final levels as unfavorites (since they're supposed to be frustrating) unless I think there's something bad about their design.
The wonderful irony of Sonic and Knuckles is that as much as I dislike it and gush about Sonic 2 or 3, it's the only Classic Sonic game I can actually remember having the patience to beat fairly as a kid - not counting CD since that game is actually pretty easy when you're playing to win. Though I never saw Doomsday Zone.

- Adventure: Speed Highway/Either Lost World or Hot Shelter
- Adventure 2: Either City Escape, Radical Highway, Metal Harbor, Cosmic Wall, or Final Rush/Mad Space and Security Hall

- Shadow: Westopolis or the second to last level on the Semi-Dark path/The Doom

- Colors: Starlight Carnival/Aquarium Park
- Generations: City Escape (Both Classic and Modern)/Classic Crisis City
- Lost World: Only played Windy Hill
I can't believe it took me this long to discover this, but I just found the basis for Ice Cap Zone's music.
Now I'm going to spend the rest of the day having "Hard times / Happiest day of my life" stuck in my head. Why on Earth was this unreleased? It's a fun, upbeat little New Wave tune.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.I've known this for almost two years because of Sonic Retro
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! And then there are people insisting that it's closer to Smooth Criminal.

Show them this counterpoint :V
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Well, Michael Jackson was still involved in Sonic 3's music to a certain extent. Carnival Night has some elements from "Jam," and Brad Buxer did admit that the credits music was the basis for "Stranger in Moscow."
It's just that Ice Cap Zone's music had little, if anything, to do with Michael Jackson.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy. It still works as a mash-up.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. That mashup of Ice Cap/Hard Times would make a perfect Smash remix for Ice Cap Zone if you remove the vocals.
But, it will never happen.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!@Burnt: His keyboardist used to work with The Jetzons.
Also Carnival Night is practically a chiptune of Jam.
BEHOLD, CHAO GARDEN IN THE UNREAL ENGINE

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!I realize that. I just didn't know that Ice Cap Zone is really an unreleased song from an obscure '80s New Wave group and not one of Michael Jackson's songs.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy. To be fair, this literally just came to light two years ago.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.2/10 no Kindergarten showcase
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyYeah, we need to see how quartzes are made.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. That Chao Garden just got retweeted by the official Unreal Engine Twitter account, and with food reason tbh because it looks pretty good
What is a food reason?
On QWERTY, "f" is right next to "g".
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.
huh, didn't realize it.
