You should really try it before you judge, the control system is a lot easier to pick up then you realize.
On the subject of Sonic 3, at this point it's obvious that the "rumors" of Michael Jackson and Co.'s involvement are true. There's a mountain of evidence. I don't know if the excuse that MJ didn't want to be credited is legit, all I know is that Sega won't ever admit it because they'll owe tons of royalties. I read somewhere that MJ's estate is in the midst of a lawsuit with Sega, thought I don't know if that's true or not.

We know that Ice Cap wasn't done by MJ, but by Brad Buxer.
Take a listen to Hard Times by The Jetzons and tell me that it's not Ice Cap Zone.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Brad Buxer was a frequent collaborator with Jackson. He worked with him on the soundtrack of the game.
Buxer even admitted as much, although he said the reason Jackson wasn't credited was because he didn't like the sound on the Genesis. I think that's bull. My theory is that Sega tried to cut him loose after the molestation allegations but didn't want to pay up for the music he already composed.
Of course that last part is just speculation.
As Somecallmejohnny said during the Brainscratch run of Sonic 3, why did he make Moonwalker if he hated the Genesis's soundchip?
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Exactly. Which is why I think Buxer was covering for him.

That was just a port from an arcadia, that's a different case.
Allowing a game to be redone from arcade machine to console doesn't require much besides confirmation that they can.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. It's not a "port" if it's a completely different game.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.It's a different version of the game because the Genesis/Mega Drive is much weaker hardware than a Arcade machine, changes were necessary. It still uses the same music though.
These arcade games were always made different when they were sailed off to home console remakes.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I have tried it. Didn't like it.
I've tried it on everything from emulators to the Sonic CD mobile release. I don't like not having actual buttons to work with—I feel that without the tactile feedbacknote , as well as with how inaccurate pressing down on a touchscreen can benote , it ruins the sense of control.
In addition, I don't like a) covering up a decent portion of the screen with the button commands, and b) having to cover the screen with my fingers in order to make the game work. I'd like to actually enjoy looking at the game in addition to playing it, AND I like being able to see everything on the screen in general—I don't like the idea of your own fingers being a hindrance or obstacle due to not being able to see something coming underneath them.
It doesn't work for me. Simple as that. If they were gonna bother to make such polished ports of the games, they should've made them commercially available on an actual gaming platform that isn't completely unorthodox. Hell, I'd love to have these versions to play on my 3DS, maybe on a compilation rerelease of the three titles in the vein of Sonic Classic Collection on the DS (except superior due to less compressed music, remastered visuals, etc.) or even just in the eShop. I'd love to be able to enjoy these ports at all, but the only one I can enjoy is CD since it's the only one that's been released outside of cell phones.
EDIT: Yeah, the Moonwalker arcade game is basically a beat'em up a la Double Dragon, whereas the home console version is a basic platformer. I do love that the arcade version has a dedicated "strike a pose" button—played it with a few friends recently at a local arcade, and we had a blast before we moved on to Q*Bert or something else, I don't remember. My only real experience with the Genesis version is the AVGN review, the Brain Scratch Commentaries' LP of it, and that clip of Michael Jackson going "OOOOO" being used like all the time in a video game retrospective show that my On Demand service used to have (the show was called 24/7gamer on there, but I've found it online under a different name before).

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I found out about the Taxman remake of CD back when I was in high school (and by "back when a I was in HS I mean a year ago") cause I saw a dude playing it and I asked him "dude how did you get Retro Arch running in HD?" and he told me "no brah this is a new port for the HD."
You talking about "Icons", that show that used to come on G4?
edited 10th Oct '15 4:18:22 PM by RoboZombie
Nah, it's called "Best Game Ever". Here's an episode they did about the Sonic franchise (though it's obviously very dated, being from 2005 apparently).
Has anyone seen the Icons episode about the Dreamcast?
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!I remember watching that after class back when G4 actually had video game shows, I liked it a lot.

Mileena MadnessLarry?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Despite being terrible, I feel like Pumpkin Hill is such an iconic stage. I love the atmosphere, and the music is dope.
Maybe the series will revisit the level in the future.
Knuckles had some sick beats in the Adventure games.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! They slowly sapped all the allure from Knuckles over time. He isn't associated with hip hop anymore, he doesn't rival Sonic, he doesn't even protect the Master Emerald.
On another note, did you know Knuckles had a Caribbean inspired design? He was supposed to have a Jamaican accent, along with the dreads and the shoes.

I remember they gave him that accent in the Sonic & Knuckles strategy guide...it was pretty lulzy.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Ya know, someone pointed out something that kind of annoyed me; Tails` name has become an Artifact Title. Not only is he barely playable anymore, but when he is, its hardly using his tails at all.
That's...pretty damn sad if I'm perfectly honest.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.... It doesn't change the fact that he has, you know, two tails.
And now I wonder if anyone in the games has ever referred to him by his proper name Miles.
But yes, make Tails playable more often and let him fly for fucks fox sake. That weird "only with air current" thing in Shattered Crystal should had been an addition to his maneuverability, not a restriction.

Not that I recall.
Flanderization is not fun, especially when it comes at the cost of the one of the character's most iconic attributes.

Eh. If I wanted to play those games, I'd do it on a console or on an actual handheld gaming console (e.g. the DS Sonic Classic Collection, even if the music in that version is stupidly compressed and low-quality and doesn't always loop right).
I don't own a phone to play platformers. A smartphone is the worst possible platform through which you can play one of these games, unless you have a Bluetooth controller, and at that point, what is even the point of having it on your phone?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.
