I was expecting Dimps to develop a full-fledged platformer for mobile (and maybe 3DS download if they have the time). The Advance series isn't that "big" in terms of content, so a game of that scale would fit perfectly on mobile.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I wasn't. Wasn't it known that it was going to be similar to the other mobile games for a while now?
I expected an auto-runner but I didn't expect it to basically be a clone of Canabalt. Maybe something like the Special Stages from Sonic 2, 3D Blast, and Rush.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!If they developed a full-fledged platformer, I'd rather they just put it on XBLA/PSN/Wii U eShop or something. Not exclusively mobile.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."They aren't making any more Sonic console games so this is what we will get from now on.

Source.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Personally, I was hoping for a Sonic R sequel.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).That doesn't say they're not making any console games any more. It says they feel PC and mobile are growth businesses and are going to make them a priority (and even that is extrapolating), which isn't the same thing at all.
It's the same basic thing as how "no current plans to do X" in no way means "we're not going to do X," yet people commonly take the former to be the latter whenever developers say it.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. My dream of a Spiritual Successor to Sonic3 is going up in flames with every year.
Speaking of, shall we talk about why Sonic3 is the greatest Sonic game of all time. I suddenly am in the mood for that.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Sure, as long as "Sonic 3" is just code for Sonic Generations. Love me some Radical Highway and City Escape.
In all seriousness, what, are we ignoring Sonic 4? I thought we liked that one.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).People like Sonic 4?
Okay, okay, fine, that's a dumb question. People like anything... and Sonic 4 isn't even the worst the franchise has to offer. But... yeah, they really dropped the ball with that one. (I mean, what momentum-based platformer has you lose all momentum in mid-air the instant you stop holding a direction...?)
Moon◊Correction: I didn't like it, I despise the art style, the "everything old is new again" approach to the boss fights. But to those who actually played it, the gameplay by itself could've been pretty fun.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).It's a pretty poor follow up after Sonic 3 dude. No physics, no any sense of narrative or scale, level design is stripped down. It's like Sonic 1 retraux than a real sequel
Oh and Sonic Generations is good, really good, but it's not Sonic 3; Sonic Generations is good but misses the mark on a few things. Sonic 3 is great with very little actually wrong with it.
Therefore Sonic 3>God>Sonic Generations :V

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. There was a Sonic title named "God". God, SEGA really is full of themselves.
Umm. The Metal Sonic parts? Seemed to have some continuity there.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Oh right, he existed. I keep forgetting that game had an Episode 2. In any case, I guess I'll give it that, it's kind of weaker than Sonic 3 tho considering it didn't have the luxury of being the final part of a entire saga.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. The problem with Generations is that on its own, it's just average. It's excellent compared to every other 3D game in the series, but on its own, its severe lack of meaningful content balances out the fantastic design of the content that is there.
But, yeah. There needs to be a 3D Sonic game that does all of these things:
- Multiple playable characters that you can play as on the same stages (and not on completely different paths like in Adventure 1) and have the same get-to-the-end goals.
- Elaborate multi-tiered levels, plus the some characters can access certain paths others can't.
- Rewards for exploration, preferably getting the Chaos Emeralds, true ending, AND super forms. And maybe also unlockable extra levels that are short yet challenging.
It's not like it's that hard to conceive. Thank God fans have started developing the Sonic World engine. Give it some time and it should be stable enough to hold a game.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I honestly prefer Sonic 2 to Sonic 3.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I've heard that the best way to take the two Sonic 4 episodes is to compare them to the first two Sonic games in approach. There've been some fans that assume that "Episode 3" would've followed a style more similar to Sonic 3 & Knuckles had it been made/fully realized.
Personally, I only played Episode I, twice. I... enjoyed it, but it's definitely not my favorite (or least favorite) Sonic game. I'm still debating on getting Episode II though.
I seem to be in a microscopic minority that not only likes both games, but their soundtracks as well.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."I like it, but not as much as I thought I would when I first heard about it. I still need to play Episode II before I can comment on it, but I hear it's a much better game than Episode I.
And I agree that the soundtracks for both Episodes are underrated. The only songs I didn't like all that much were the boss themes from the first Episode.

I don't even hate them, they just really miss the mark of being "Classic Sonic" and as a result, are only just "ok". Not the worst platformers I've played, but don't really live up to the legacy before them.
Generations Classic Sonic isn't perfect either but I'd much rather have that.
But yea, Sonic 3 Spiritual Successor plz. Plz Sonic Team. Pretty plz.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Prefferably not too many, and with gameplay that is different enough from Sonic to have some meaningful choice, but not so different that it feels like i'm playing a completely different game, especially one i'd rather not be playing instead (aka unleashed). this honestly isn't that hard to manage since sonic 3 and knuckles did this fine already.

Ya know, at this interval I'd only see Sonic Tails Knuckles and Amy even being playable at all at this point.
Which is kind of depressing, the dark side of Loads And Loads Of Characters not all of them can be important at once.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
Were you guys really expecting something big out of a mobile game? Come on, now.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."
