So, what have you been doing this past month?

Teddie introduced me to his family.... I got a nice bed on a fold out couch. W-we got to go to the zoo and I saw my first movie! I'm having lots of fun thanks to you guys....

-Villers smiles, the little duckling flapping his wings in this trembling hands-

That sounds fun. What movie did you see? -continues to stare-

I don't remember the name, but it was about this mouse like me. They had this little needle they used for a sword and they fought people much taller than themself... It was really cool.

Desperaux. I think.

-shakes his head- Can't say I've heard of it. Then again, I haven't watched many movies. -continues watching the ducks-

Well, it was a lot of fun....

... I still have nightmares every day... I don't know how to stop them....

I don't think they ever go away. You just have to surround yourself with good things so it's easier to deal with them. -continues watching the ducks-

-Villers nods sadly before turning his attention to the ducks-

I guess it's just punishment for being a shadow... for being created to do terrible things.... I'll do my best to be happy, though.

-wordlessly gets up and pats Villers on the head, causing the ducks nearby him to peep in terror and hop away. The one in Villers's hands struggles similarly-

-he then leaves for the stairs- Might as well unhide my swords.

-The mouse squeaks softly as Cloud pets his head. He lets the duckling go as he grows curious, following Cloud upstairs-

Erm, why do you want to unhide them? There's no enemy here...

Because I don't feel safe without them.

-hesitates on the stairs for a moment, starng blankly ahead of him-

...Oh, shut it. You're just bitter because you're dead.

-continues up-

-Villers watches on, staying silent.-

So you hear voices like that too? The ones that were closer to you but died?

It depends. I used to hear many voices. Some were good, some were bad. Now I only hear one or two.

Define "close."

Well, I hear the other shadows from time to time.... I mean, I can talk to them, and they talk to me... Is all.. I just usually do it in the middle of the night, without anyone else staring at me. It's not that weird, isn't it?

No. Or, if it is, I'm not one to judge.

Until recently, I rather liked one of the good voices. It was Zack. He... wasn't real, but he always knew just what to say to cheer me up, or help me in a pinch. He's gone now. And I know I shouldn't, but I miss him terribly.

I... the one I was talking to on the stairs... that's Jenova. She's one of the bad voices. -closes his eyes- She tells me to burn and slaughter and kill. She sings to me, all the time though my blood and my bones and my being. She tells me everything will be okay, because the deaths would only be obstacles, temporary measures. Then there would be Reunion and cleansing, and all would be brought together as part of one, as part of her, and it would be glorious and beautiful.... -through the time he has been talking, a slow smile speads across his face-

C-cloud! Snap out of it! Don't listen to the bad voices!

-Villers holds onto Cloud, worried for him-
