Sound powers. Would such a side-effect make sense?

I was thinking of creating a character with sound powers. She would have super-hearing, which would make sound painful to her. Sadly, she would have been very hammy and dreamed of becoming an actress before developing her powers.

But someone told me this makes no sense. And how would one with superhearing would be able of using sound attacks?

Could anyone please help me?

Depends on how the sound powers work. If she has a form of telekinesis focused on amplifying sound waves, then it's totally plausible that she could amplify ambient noises so that she can hear things she couldn't otherwise. And conversely deaden her own attacks so that she doesn't hurt her own ears.

However she could have Power Incontinence and be Blessed with Suck so that her powers don't naturally properly protect her.

Meaning, it would make sense if she amplified sounds. Did I get it right?

Yep.

If it was straight "I can yell really loud" then super hearing wouldn't make much sense. Though self-healing ear drums might be a Required Secondary Power.

Makes sense. But it would make sense her feeling unconfortable or sometimes feel pain just because of the noise, even if her eardrums can heal themselves?

I'm thinking of "has to wisper because her own voice bothers her".
