Warner's more or less relying on Lego properties at this point. Storks was kind of eh, and so far on their slate there's Lego Batman, Lego Ninjago, and a Lego Movie sequel (and apparently some kind of animated Scooby-Doo movie that's supposed to start a Hanna-Barbera movie universe).

Well people are worried about Warner Animation Group because it was made to birth a line of successful original animated features the likes of what Pixar and Dreamworks started out doing, but now they're only left with ONE of the three leads of that team! And with Storks doing poorly, it looks like they'll rely on building blocks more than they had before!

[up][up]The Road to El Dorado ultimately was pretty weak in regards to character and plot. There is a lot of jokes in it, and I appreciate the more adult content, but it seemed like the stakes were extremely low, and nothing was really gained from it. And some of the undertones regarding the "white men" saving the naive natives is kind of disturbing. Despite that, I would prefer a film like that over Turbo, Home, and Bee Movie.

Warner Animation Group was already riding off the back of The Lego Movie enough as it is, but when that franchise gets tired to people, as well as the management issues, the company will find itself in a box that it will be hard to break out of. Hopefully the company can get enough money this year to enter the acquisition deal with more stability... at least financially.

I have A LOT to say about a LOT of things, and NO little minded opinions will hold MY opinion back.

There was everything wrong with the Bee movie.

The Bee Movie was the absolute nadir of early Dream Works. It's kind of telling that the next movie they did was Kung Fu Panda, and look at everything Dream Works made from 2008-2012, that was their renaissance.

I felt that Bee Movie was very...confused? Like artistically I have no real idea what it was trying to be. Nowadays the only thing people care about are the memes.

Also for my part I quite like Road To Eldorado and consider it one of Dreamworks' better and more interesting films.

It's flawed, but I really like Sinbad Legend Of The Seven Seas. The traditionally animated stuff is gorgeous, especially Eric, while the CG is...clunkier (but the environments are still wonderful), and there are bits where the CG frame rate genuniely looks lower than the 2d frame rate.

[up] Bee Movie was the one Seinfeld was involved in, right? Maybe the confused nature of the movie was because Jerry Seinfeld was trying to push his vision, but Dreamworks was trying to do their thing too and it just got all mixed up and muddled, because Seinfeld is not a whimsical person, and his voice doesn't mesh at all with Dreamworks.

I heard some people criticized the trailers for apparently revealing way too much of the plot. I haven't seen the movie in forever, but I remembered as a kid hating every time someone said "Thinking Bee".

[up][up][up][up]Katzenberg is very hit or miss, so I would not count on it. I guess hit or miss is a step up from what Sony has been putting out lately.

[up][up][up] This may be harsh, but Bee Movie is complete garbage. The arcs were all over the place, most of the jokes were painful at best, and outside of the animation (which has aged a lot), there is nothing redeemable about it. Definitely the worst Dream Works movie.

[up][up] I have went in on Sinbad in the past, but as of recently, it is becoming a slight guilty pleasure of mine. There is actually a lot of context regarding the character interactions that I am fascinated by, and the soundtrack is pretty good. My main issue with it is that there was so much potential for this to easily be the best Dream Works film, but they just blew it so hard. While I was pretty eh at best on Dorado, it frustrated me with how flawed this film ended up being.

I have to say that I am glad that this thread is growing more than it was in the past. People usually just talk about Disney and Pixar, while ignoring all of the other companies.

"Dreamworks" would be an excellent name for a Georges Melies studio.

Because I liked it way more than I should have. And sorry about bringing it up again.

I have to say I love Dreamworks but none of their upcoming Non-HTTYD work looks all that promising to me. Except Captain Underpants that looks cute at least.

The one with their old distributor before the merger with Universal. Trolls was part of that contract.

Storks was a surprisingly funny (and moving!) movie. Nothing to write home about, but better than it had a right to be.

"According to Variety, Timberlake and Anna Kendrick are returning for the sequel as Branch and Poppy. Since the movie is over three years away, we may have to wait a while to find out whether Zooey Deschanel, Gwen Stefani, John Cleese, James Corden, Jeffrey Tambor, and Quvenzhané Wallis are coming back.

Co-director Mike Mitchell (Sky High) isn’t returning to direct, but he’s a part of the sequel and helped craft the story. He’s currently busy with The Lego Movie Sequel, due out in 2019."
