Then look for something more, because you'll just be flailing about making things worse in the long run if you go on pure spite. If this is a good game on its own, then great! It's worth getting. If not, don't let spite put money in the hands of people who have done worse than talk bad about women in Star Wars. Perspective. Do we really want to keep feeding a machine that buys up companies and puts them out of business? If it's a good game and DICE is doing things right, then sure. Let's encourage them to keep doing things right. Otherwise . . . let's not drive the franchise in the wrong direction just to get back at some people for saying something on the net a lot of them might not even believe. Trolls exist, and they do it to fuck with peoples' heads. Plus the possibility of EA feeding them in order to rile up feminists specifically FOR their spite dollars . . .

Same. Unfortunately, can't take those jokes as jokes. There are people who actually feel that exact way out there ("I have nothing to live for, all that drives me is hatred of other people and seeing them suffer") and they might be reading this stuff.

I'm not going to get it because it just doesn't fit with me. Hell, probably never getting a new Star Wars game again until EA loses the rights, which will never happen. But I won't badmouth the game itself if it turns out to be good. I'll just continue attacking EA at every corner because, in the video game industry and ONLY in the video game industry, they are one of the worst companies ever. There's far worse in other industries, but we're not talking about those.

Meh, Origin is nowhere near as ugly as Games for Windows, and they've gotten better with the discounts so they're not as godawful as in the past. And if you're lucky, they'll occasionally bring back the monthly "On the House" freebies; that's how I got my hands on a free copy of RA 2 and Yuri's Revenge.

EDIT: I'd even go as far and play the devil's advocate for EA as a company overall. Because for all their faults, even their crappiest games are only so on a relative scale. Battlefield 4 was an awful glitchy mess with balance issues and poor design choices galore at initial release, but it was ultimately fixed, and now mostly outshines both it's predecessor and BF: Hardline. Battlefront 1, while again lacking in material and being rushed out to cash in on the release hype of The Force Awakens, is still decent, if very basic and watered down compared to Battlefront 2.

You wanna talk about real videogame companies that are genuine scum of the Earth? Look no further than half the "freemium" crap you'll find online on either Facebook, the Apple Store, or most mobile titles. Those games are BLATANTLY designed to be as cash-greedy as possible and will monetize virtually every single aspect of their gameplay, and yet somehow, for some reason that baffles the ever-living shit outta me, they actually MAKE MORE CASH THAN SOME AAA CONSOLE GAMES DO.

The worst I've seen so far was Plarium Inc: they've essentially made the same exact game 4 times already (the original being Total Domination), and all they did was re-skin everything to match a different genre. And there is not a single thing they will not monetize: since the upgrades tied to your base, or even building certain units provides EXP to level up in addition to premium time bonuses, you can theoretically level up like crazy using nothing but premium purchases, and even re-purchase the entire army you lost almost instantly. The game is utterly impossible for all but the most obsessed credit-card warriors to even stand a chance at winning. I'm surprised nobody's tried suing them for their business practices being so utterly exploitative and obvious.

Yep, they did. Because it was that crappy of an alternative to virtually everything else on the market.

Yeah, I remember playing Dawn of War 2 and getting so irritated that it would bug me to sign in EVERY. TIME.

But anyway what sort of missions do you guys think we'll be doing in the story mode? I can imagine the tutorial level will be at Endor.

All those people salty about a female lead... Me, I'm just salty that it's an Empire campaign.

I wonder if they're going to take the route of Battlefield 1 and have Iden's story be only one of several "War Stories" about otherwise unrelated plots. People were suspecting the same of the prominent roles of African-American soldiers in BF 1's marketing.

Nah, the protagonist lady seems too important to the story.

I imagine we'll do Endor, then a few other battle zones, then Jakku, and maybe then a Time Skip to the Battle of Starkiller Base?

To be fair Battlefront 2's campaign was also technically an Empire campaign.

I don't think there's ever been a purely "Rebel" campaign other than that PSP spin-off nobody liked. Who wants to play as those sissies anyway? It's the badass bounty hunters and Sith we want to control.

The Sith faction in Mos Eisley Assault mode had a tendency to gang up on lone Jedi units.

They would then proceed to use are of effect lightning attacks. They honestly kill each other so fast that even as a human player, you literally cannot kill the enemy fast enough to make up the difference.

They're getting a leg up on becoming Sith Lords, duh. Rule of One and all that.

Not so far, no.

God dammit.

That's the only mode I ever even play on my Battlefront 2 Classic.

Same here, it was the biggest blast and pretty much the big reason why I still actually play the game on PC.

I found myself on the side of the contrarian party each time. I dunno why, but I always hated playing clones and stormies. Part of it is that the droids and rebels have better ships.

Watch as it's DLC.

Yeah, plus the Empire didn't have Droidekas.

They do in the new canon, of course.
