Estrogen feminizes. There's a reason, during HRT for MTF transsexuals, they receive androgen blockers and synthetic estrogens. They're what result in the development of female secondary sexual characteristics in MTF transsexuals and biological women.

Yes, both males and females have estrogen. However, male estrogen levels are significantly lower, and generally is not the dominant hormone influencing male physiological development. And androgens, which are generally considered the 'male' hormone, are present in women as well, as women wouldn't be capable of having a sex drive without it.

I haven't had a good laugh at such a nerdy topic in awhile.

If you want your answer, people think of Estrogen as female hormones because for most of a female's existence estrogen is the dominant hormone. If you wanted to be more accurate you could say estrogen is the puberty and on female hormone but is the developing male's hormone... but until most of the world's population doesn't expect to live past twelve(and remember, despite all the death in the world human population is increasing, elders included) it is still going to be thought of as a female hormone unless that rapidly expanding population take a drastic shift to medical fields and from their shift to early childhood or birthing.

Males do have estrogen: If we didn't have any estrogen, we'd have all sorts of health problems, many of them related to bone formation (estrogen, IIRC, inhibits bone resorption and promotes skeletal growth).

Still, it's not the dominant hormone. The dominant hormone is testosterone, the hormone that allows males to become bearded, muscular hunks.

<Mod Hat ON>

This has been explained just about every way that it can be, from medical term to words of one-syllable, and besides, Signed is no longer with us, so trying to explain it to him anymore is rather pointless.

I'm going to lock this thread now.
