Hm, I'm intrigued.
The sequel to Dead Island will be My Neighbor Totoro.
Jonah FalconThat was just... weird.
I'm just going to jump to the conclusion that it was Japanese and therefore would make more sense if I lacked that cultural divide.
Also: doesn't seem to separate itself from any of the other millions of zombie games out there. The zombies in a kitsch location is totally Dead Rising.
Edit: It's being developed by the polish, apparently.

This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Meh.
Unoriginal idea. And killing the girl just seems done for shock value.
All I thought while watching the trailer was "LOOK WE KILLED A GIRL! ARE WE EDGY? BUY ZOMBIE GAME #5512!"
Honestly I am more interested in the tech than the in game.
Disagree completely. I've been following the game since it was announced, it's definitely not for shock value. It's trying to be the most realistic zombie video game. It's open world and anything can be used as a weapon, ala Dead Rising, however it's in first person and it's not comical. The death of the girl was supposed to show a parent's worse nightmare and how awful the outbreak is...It's a loss of innocence. The safety and comfort that you knew are gone in an unexpected instant, leaving you shocked, angry, hurt and scared. Does This Remind You of Anything?? Because if you're over the age of 14 and live in America, it should.

^^The Oklahoma bombings if I'm not mistaken.
I remember the news coverage of it preempting an Indiana Jones movie and pissing me off as a kid as I was a huge Indy fan as a child.

I was talking about 9/11...
I really kinda liked the trailer going backwards.
If the survival mechanics have less or equal depth to fallout new vegas' 'hardcore' mode i'm not interested.
You don't have to be. -shrugs-
If New Vegas was REALLY hardcore, you wouldn't be able to save.
I think you mean your save gets deleted when you die.

Nah, I mean you have one life with no option to save. Could you imagine that?
I know I'm derailing the thread and I apologize, but seriously, imagine a New Vegas where you couldn't save. Wouldn't that be awesome?

So it would it be trying to beat Super Mario Bros 3 on NES without the warp whistles.
You technically can already, though... just never reload a character's save ever.
@tendollar
Dead State is actually looking more realistic. But Zombies are getting overdone like crazy.
And I"m sorry but to me this trailer was the video game trailer equivalent of an internet shock image.
Yes, showing them or showing footage of 9/11 does invoke emotion, but its bad taste, and cheaply done.
I could go around showing horrifying images to people, and watch them react to it. That does not make me an artist.
But it's a game about zombies. Kids have been killed by zombies since Night Of The Living Dead.
And?
That doesn't make it DEEP or invoking. It just shows that they are killing a child in a way to get your attention.
Unfortunately... it seemed to have worked.
Wouldn't killing ANYONE be a way to get your attention? Your argument that because it's a kid, it's supposed to be edgy. But why? Would it not be edgy if it was a grown man? What about a teenage boy?
Sadly. People think edgy angst stuff is ART.
Societal perceptions. How many random nameless men have you killed over your video game career? A girl's dead body is the first thing we see. No context, just "BAM HERES A DEAD GIRL I BET YOU FIND THAT SHOCKING HUH?"
Showing a dead man can still have some shock, but no where as much. Thats the only reason they killed a small girl in this trailer, to make you go "HOW TERRIBLE D:"
All I see is a cheap attempt to get me to react.
Know what could have been more effective, and still get the message of "his daughter just died"? He's running protecting his daughter, fighting through zombies to protect his daughter. He thinks he just got her to safety when he realizes she's gone, He slumps over defeated, because he knows theres no way in hell she's alive.
There, we just got the message of a daughter just dying, without it shoving it in your face.
What the fuck?
Okay, I'm going to go watch Grave Of The Fireflies to cheer myself up.
