Also Lucas is shot twice in the chest... and he not only survives, but he's strong enough to escape on his own.
Officially a cartoon villain. He should grow a Snidely Whiplash-esque moustache to complete the effect.

hashtagsarestupidYeah, it's probably a really good thing Lucas was an only child.
Trump delenda estOnly child that we know about...
hashtagsarestupidAre you kidding me?
meteoric iron, maybe their timeline had been taken over by Serpent Men?

hashtagsarestupidMeteoric iron is still iron. F-fucking-e. The only thing special about meteoric iron is that it's likely near or on the surface and would require the kind of significant mining effort the colony couldn't mount. Though it does raise the question of why in 150 years they don't have fully robotic mining equipment they could use.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritYeah, why not oh, say, rare earth elements, which are considerably more valuable nowadays.
Trump delenda estBecause the writers are hacks.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritExactly.
If they're so desperate for iron (fucking iron), maybe they should remember it's one of the most common elements in the entire universe. A single asteroid would have trillions of tons of the stuff. And you wouldn't need to separate the ore, it'd just be there.
I think I remember reading once that a single asteroid, fully mined, would basically crash the materials market because the price of the stuff would be just above zero. Or something. So yeah, fuck iron.
It's not over. Not yet.And that's why I don't think they want the iron just to sell it...
I think it has to be because there's something that they can make with the iron. I just can't come up with a product that'd be so profitable... Air filters, perhaps... But I have a hard time coming up with a reason why iron is so necessary, as opposed to some other material...
I'll admit while I normally just ignore the plot holes you guys bring up, this one bugs me too. Mostly because it wouldn't have been at all difficult to pick pretty much any other dense element as the thing they're mining from the meteor impacts (most of Earth's heavier stuff comes from that, after all). Not to mention that they decided to burn down a jungle instead of cut down the trees that no longer exist in the future, and therefore are probably worth more money than you would see in a lifetime.
Most of early molten Earth's heavy elements sank, it's the reason the core is still molten.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritMaybe they're going somewhere that. The lasting consequences of their dumbfuckery will cause a temporal paradox, or the head of Lincoln memorial will be replaced by a T-Rex.
I'm a skeptical squirrelI do like how they found the prow of an eighteenth-century ship at the end.
Terra Nova is actually a reboot of Land of the Lost.
It's not over. Not yet.I want Sleestak damn it!
Trump delenda estAccording to Entertainment Weekly, Terra Nova has been cancelled by Fox.
Though, they do say that the show is going to try to pitch the other networks to pick up the show... It likely won't happen if they want to keep their current budget, though.
I'm betting Scifi will buy it, if they do.
Fight smart, not fair.Heh. When I saw this pop up I thought "people still watch this?"
Nope!
It's not over. Not yet. They hadn't come back yet but yeah. *Sigh* After how awful the season finale was though I find myself not really caring. The fact that there were supposed to be dinosaurs in this show never seemed to be an important point.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " SpiritFox canceling a sci-fi show after one season.....holy shit that is a surprise!!
You will never love a women as much as George Lucas hates his fans. That does seem weird, considering that Terra Nova is apparently their highest-rated show!
There is a chance that another network might pick it up. Does anyone know how long that process takes? If that does happen, I hope it's a network that can afford the budget that show's got!
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee! It'd have to be a big name network, or someone like Sci-Fi would have to be willing to make it their cornerstone show. I seriously doubt it'll be saved. With the budget it must have required I doubt anyone would be willing to take the risk on it.
How strong is 10.1 million viewers? I really have no idea.
"Tyyr's a necessary evil. " Spirit
Okay, so what all this about was... iron. Fucking iron.
Are you kidding me?
