-Herbert has had Maul teleport him back to the outskirts of Castelia, and has pitched a tent in preparation for making camp for the night. He has his team out, all of whom are training against the various wild Pokemon en route whilst Herbert languidly gives orders.-

Herbert: I'm not used to spending the night away from the group, I must say. But I need some time alone to train for my challenge. Just the one night, at least.

Kirk: <Hey, at least you still have us.>

Wrex: <Ooh! I wonder if mommy and daddy are still here! Then they can see how good I've gotten at fighting!>

-Herbert smiles as Kirk punts another Scraggy about twenty feet into the air.-

Herbert: We'll see. Now then, ease off a bit, Kirk. We've still got the whole night ahead of us.

Jordan was just enjoying swimming around, it was then that a certain Gym Leader noticed him and approached him just as he was getting out of the water.

"Dude! I didn't know that there were Poliwraths around here! That's cool!" said Marlon, looking at Jordan with a glint on his eyes.

"<... Eh?>" said Jordan, rather surprised by the Gym Leader's sudden appearance.

"So, hey big guy, do you have a trainer?" asked Marlon, feeling rather hopeful.

Jordan just nodded since he was pretty sure that Marlon wouldn't be able to understand him, the Gym Leader then hung his head in disappointment.

"Bummer..." said Marlon, now looking back at Jordan "Well, where's he?"

Jordan then shruged, much to Marlon's confusion

"Huh? Are you lost?" he asked, intrigued

The Poliwrath then nodded again.

"Oh! Well, if your trainer is going to drop by sometime, why don't you stick around with me and my Pokémon? 'Cause otherwise you won't have much to do here other than swimmin'" suggested Marlon, a smile forming on his face.

Jordan then stopped to think about it for a few seconds, he then gave another nod at the Gym Leader, whose smile just got wider at the response

"Great! Come with me then."

Marlon then started to walk off, he walked a bit and then stopped to see if Jordan was following him or not, Jordan then followed him to what seemed to be the gym of that city.

Above Route 6

| Zeta has decided to take her party out of the vicinity of the City, as she wants to be farther away from the population when she explores the North Desert.

| She quickly slips into the state of mind necessary to reach that place.

The Land of the People

| Moving quickly so as to give herself no chance to hesitate or turn back, Zeta strides towards the North Desert, and the grim skies and withered sands.

Northern Desert

| She stumbles along the nearly nonexistent path, growing more and more uneasy with each step she takes.

| The sands around her are disturbingly uniform.

| They're tinged a pale, almost sickly gray. They are unchanging in color and texture, resembling fine, powdery dust more than sand.

| The heavy winds blow this pseudo-sand up into the air.

| This uniformity, this bland, yet utterly cruel, harsh sameness is, in an inexplicable way, far more disturbing than the ever-changing sand in the Desert of Madness.

| At long last, her legs weak, her mouth dry, her nerves twitching, Zeta reaches the end of the path.

| In front of her stands a raised platform, made out of the petrified stump of a mindbogglingly huge tree.

| She climbs up on it.

| The figure here is the one that looks the most like her.

| She sits on a throne, made out of billowing clouds of shadow, ethereal yet solid. It slowly shifts and morphs. Zeta can see faces emerge from the shadows, silently screaming, before being subsumed back into the dark mass of the throne.

| The figure is dressed in a black, high-collared, tight shirt. She lounges on the throne casually, legs hanging off one end, elbow propping her head up on the other.

| She has a sneer on her face as Zeta, trembling and tense, approaches.

Zeta?: Hah. Finally showed up I see. Took your own sweet time about it, too. I was beginning to think you weren't gonna show.

Zeta: Well, you're a lot less formal than your sisters.

Zeta?: Damn straight.

Zeta: What's your name?

Zeta?: Girl, you know next to nothing. Nada. Zip, zilch. Zero. Why would I bother to give my name to an ignorant little girl like you?

Zeta: |taken aback| Fine. What shall I call you then?

Zeta?: Hmm. Good question. Lemme see...

| Zeta? sits and thinks for a long time.

Zeta?: Call me Stver.

Zeta: Stver. What's the name of this place.

Stver: Whaddya think it's called?

| Zeta pauses, obviously hesitant.

Zeta: The Desert of Shadow.

Stver: DING DING DING! Somebody give this numskull a prize, she's figured out the smallest fraction of knowledge about the world.

Zeta: ...

Zeta: Will you tell me what the keys are?

Stver: Aww. You were just starting to get slightly tolerable, too! No. Figure it out yourself. Actually, first, just get out of my sight. I'm bored with you now.

Zeta: Fine.

| And the shadows rise up to pull her down. They are thicker, stronger, more tangible, more disturbing here than any of the other three Deserts.

| She is gone.

Stver: Stupid little bitch.

| And then she fades out of existence.

| Then the platform.

| Then the sand.

| Then the path.

| Then the storm.

| Then the sky.

| At last, the only thing remaining is the throne made of shadows, billowing against the nothingness.

| After a long pause, it too phases out of existence.

Chargestone Cave

Vincent was painting what seemed to be an entire wall of the cave while Gex was just sitting in place watching him paint as well as eating some berries in the meantime.

"<Can we go now?>" asked Gex, quite bored.

"<No, I'm almost finishing!>" said Vincent, focused on the painting

"<But you said that yesterday...>" said Gex, with a moan.

"<Hush, I'm painting.>" said Vincent, not feeling like dealing with that right now.

"<Aaaaaw...>" said Gex, followed by a sigh.

-Every is wandering around, possibly with Mezzo, looking for Fortis-

Chargestone Cave

As Gex impaciently waited for Vincent to finish his painting on the wall, he noticed a small Joltik coming from behind him.

"<Hm? What are you?>" asked Gex as he curiously poked the small spider "<I don't think I've seen any of you before, you're so small.>" he added, still poking the Joltik

Growing annoyed by Gex non-stop poking on it, the Joltik tried to fire an Electroweb at him, but he moved out of the way just in time, Vincent wasn't so lucky though as he was with his back turned at them and, as such, he was hit by the web and got stuck on it at the same time he received quite a shock and fell to the ground.

"<   Gex!   >" said Vincent, the entonation of his voice being enough to make the Joltik run away.

"<Um... Can we go now?>" asked Gex, looking awkwardly at Vincent's current situation

"<   NO!   >" said Vincent, then getting electrified by the Electroweb again as he struggled to get it off him.
