Rex: A...trade?

Young Boy: Yeah, a trade! You know: two trainers exchange Pokemon! It's easy~

He hugged the Farfetch'd next to Rex happily, the duck-like Pokemon letting out a happy coo at the affections.

Young Boy: I've always heard about how cool Farfetch'd are, so I wanted to catch one myself! But...I'm scared of all the Miltank on the route where they are! So, if you traded yours to me, it'd be a really big help. What do you say? I have a really good Pokemon that I'll trade you for it!

Rex: ...

Looking over to the happy duck and the boy, Rex felt a small nagging sensation in the back of his head. He didn't want to trade any of his Pokemon! He caught them fair and square through battles and training and all other kinds of things!

But looking at the expression of joy on Farfetch'd's face, he felt his desire to say no waver. This boy did seem to care a great deal about the species...and Farfetch'd did seem to take a shine to him almost immediately.

...Would Farfetch'd be [happier] if he went with him?

Rex: I...I...

Future (Lilycove City: Contest Hall)

Girl: Rex? ...Are you alright?

Blinking out of his reverie, Rex's eyes focused on her face, hesitation clouding his features.

Rex: I'm fine...

He looked over at Dahlia, the plant Pokemon finally meeting his gaze. She looked at him not with anger, but confusion. She seemed...uncertain about the possibility. To be honest, any unwillingness he felt was probably greater than hers. There was no way that he wanted to lose any of his teammates...but at the same time, wouldn't it be better for Dahlia were she able to be with someone who could better meet her needs? He wasn't even sure about the direction to take his own life, stumbling between battles, researching, and being...whatever a member of the J-Team was.

Dahlia had never cared for Gym Matches. She'd found his attention to her during his researching phase flattering, but being able to become a famous Contest star was greater than any attention that he could give. And as far as the J-Team, he doubted that she'd enjoy "saving the world" from disasters on a frequent basis.

So, there was only one thing to do.

Rex: ...I accept.

At some random house somewhere in La Rousse's sprawl

-Hearing Umbra-

Trainer: "No, really. Why did you just break down my door?"

-Facepalming-

"Smooth first impression... Uh... We thought that these guys here might be yours..."

-Points at the couple dozen Larvitar on the front yard-

Trainer: "They are... Or more accurately, were... Why?"

-A Nidoqueen comes to the door behind the trainer-

<Nidoqueen: "What's going on here anyways?">

Looks can be deceiving, let's see how this plays out. Because we got the impression that they were released for not being good enough.

Comet turns her attention to the Larvitar, tilting his head at him.

Comet: <Sorry, kid. You're, er...mother was just setting a bit of a bad example.>

She had a feeling that what she just said probably didn't help matter much, and instinctivly took a step back while still trying to stay composed. Although low level, Comet didn't really want to be on the receving end of the Larvitar's attacks.

Meanwhile, Lake turns his attention to the breeder's Nidoqueen, trying to prevent her from getting any bad ideas about his group.

Lake: <Sorry, some of my group may have gotten the wrong impression about your trainer. We certainly didn't mean to cause any property damage, honest.>

Well, Odette sort of lost her round to Veronica's Skarmory.

Odette: (looks down sheepishly) <I wasn't fast enough...>

But, at least I managed to get the sixth gym badge recently.

A House Somewhere In La Rousse - Future

Trainer: "Excuse me? I released them because the only alternative way that I had for keeping them was to leave them in a box for the rest of their lives. And what would give you that impression anyways? Did a "little Taillow" tell you that or something?"

<Larvitar: "Wait, Trish? What's going on? Who's at the do-">

-And notices the other Larvitar-

<Larvitar: "Oh! Hi guys! You came back!">

Yes, so instead of keeping them in a Box to rot you release them into the wild in a region they're not native to so they can become Skarmory food, amongst many other predators native to Hoenn. That's a bright idea. It's a wonder that none of them have gotten eaten yet.

Yeah. I think Odette will evolve sometime soon, and after she evolves, I'll work on training up Tulip so she can learn the rest of her level-up moves so that she can evolve too.

Comet sighs, shooting Tagg a glare.

Comet: <So is everyone just going to ignore me now?>

She crosses her arms, breathing a lick of flame in annoyance. Sensing her irritation, Treeo bends down to talk to her.

Treeo: <To be fair, it does look like this woman may not have been giving these Lavitar the best treatment. You can understand how everyone may be upset about that, right?>

Comet refuses to meet the Sceptile's gaze for a second, before turning her head to look at him.

Comet: <I guess so...>

A Few Months Ago - On a Random Street in La Rousse

Trainer: "Well?"

Random Pedestrian: "Er... I mean... It's cute and all..."

Trainer: "And she'll turn into a 7-foot tall lizard that can turn a mountain into a molehill, what's not to like?"

Random Pedestrian: "Uh... Oh! I think that I hear my fridge running! Gotta go!"

-And takes off running-

Sometime after that

-Leaving a box full of Larvitar on the steps of a local school marked "Free to Good Home"-

Trainer: "This should do the trick, there's no way that schoolkids could possibly pass these guys up... I still can't believe that leaving a box at the bus station only managed to move three of these guys! I had that box there for two weeks!"

A few hours after that attempt, at the same house

-Hearing a doorbell ring-

"Coming!"

-And opens the door to find a pair of stern-faced school administrators, and the box of Larvitar from earlier-

Random School Official: "Are these yours?"

Trainer: "Er..."

5 minutes, and one long rant later

Random School Official: "And don't bring them back!"

-And slams the door shut-

Trainer: "They stopped panning out after the first couple of boxes' worth of Larvitar."

Tagg: 5126. I was sort of following along, but I'm not totally sure what's happening. Thank you.

-The top of the Egg is cracking-

Comet sighs, shaking her head at Tagg.

Comet: <It's fine, at least you didn't blow her front door down...>

"Oh, sounds like you may not have been using the best methods of finding these little guys a new home."

I pause, thinking for a second.

"...Perhaps we may be able to help with that?"

<Larvitar: "Psst! What happened to the door?">

<Larvitar: "It was in the way.">

"Okay, some of us work for the P.E.F.E, the Pokédex Extended...er...I forget what the rest stands for. Anyway, we work mainly to benefit Pokémon, and one of the many ways we do that is by taking in sick, unhappy, or otherwise unwanted Pokémon that their owners otherwise wouldn't be able to care for.

Now, seeing as you can't look after all of these Larvitar by yourself, perhaps you could hand them all over to us? We promise that they would be well looked after with us, and most would go on to be with loving trainers."

Hey Tagg where are you? I'm in fortree.

Fool lost to Umbra, DS learnt about Charon being behind the weather from Sierra and Vvyan, a foreign Salamence is in pursuit of a little girl carrying an Articuno egg, a bunch of us time shenaniganed to the future to do the Eugeni!Tar event, Rex is trading away Dahlia, and Casval and Wally are double battling in LaRousse City.

I would suggest training Tulip up a bit for the next Gym, yes. Odette would be at a slight disadvantage against the signature mons.
