ITT: We are all Pokémon Trainers

-the Zoroark smirks and stands over me. I punch him in the face, and while he's distracted scramble to my feet. Snarling, he starts to glow as he charges a Night Daze. Katan leaps towards him but is tackled by a Pinsir. Epona's every move is blocked by an Extreme Speed from the Dragonair-

-I look around frantically for some thing to attack him with when a giant blast of energy knocks him off his feet. Startled, I look for the source to find Hecate standing over the unconscious body of the Spiritomb, looking grim. She nods once, then leaps over the Spiritomb, blasting Dragonair with a Night Daze. I kick the Zoroark in the face, then run past him and over to Blue-

Katan!

-he looks up and manages to throw the Pinsir off and runs over. He slashes through the ropes with his scythes-

-just imagine Matrix-esque jumping and kicking between platforms over a fiery pit of lava, as my words could never do that justice-

Ah, Nidoran stuff? What have you gotten up to in this reality... my memories of this timeline don't give me a very privilieged view... Honestly I'm probably not legally supposed to be headmaster right now, but nobody's complaining. We'll find out what Elm thinks, I guess.

Oh, yes... Tracer and the crew have a real crazy plan in the works, involving repurposing a lot of PEFeDOS's test equipment. Not sure how much detail I'm allowed to-

-I start leading Blue towards the exit. The Zoroark runs towards us, snarling and preparing a Night Daze. Katan races over and stops him, slashing at him with X-Scissor. I keep moving, kicking and punching 'mons out of the way as I go-

-meanwhile, Epona and Hecate are tag teaming Dragonair, occasionally blasting aside a 'mon that tries to interfere-

I could. He probably won't say much until you're out, though.

— Gotten into?

Maekrite — <Nothing bad, just an ar-mmmmmmfffffff!> — is muffled by my hand, I don't care if he bites.

— Ssshhh. — back to Tangent — Not much honest. Anyway, let's hope they let you remain in this post, at least for as long as things get orderly...

-Hears explanation and sees Tangent being tacklepouncehugged Oak-style-

— What the....? Was that a mini-Tropius?

Maekrite (tilts head) — <"Uncle"???????> — remembers — <Oh, right...>

-Both staring at the screen-

"Oh hai..."

-In the apartment-

<Lardna: "... So what is it that you all plan to do tomorrow?">

"Well... We were going to expose 'Burgh'... And check up to see if the Resistance has put any portals nearby..."

<Lardna: "... Portals?">

<Guy: "They're wormholes. Generated by a gun.">

<Shaun: "We were hoping to use them in order help evacuate towns in Unova before Napoleon made any further attacks...">

<Lardna: "Napo- Oh. The cretin to the north...">

<Teala: "Yeah.">

<Gligar!Vlad: "... You're coming with us, right?">

<Lardna: "... I have a different trainer in this time... She's probably worried sick about me, Jasmine, and Ludwig too...">

<Milo: "So what? She's obviously not here. Just go with u- OW!">

-Is clubbed by Kat-

<Kat: "Shut it, weasel boy!">

-Leering at Milo-

<Lardna: "Look, I can't just abandon her okay?! It's my duty to try and find out what happened to her and return!">

<Pascal: "What did happen, man?">

<Lardna: "... She and her family had to flee several months ago. I and the others stayed behind to buy them time in order to escape by sneaking aboard a plane at the airport...">

<Nadia: "... Where was it going?">

<Lardna: "Some hole that humans stopped caring about... Almia, I think...">

<Shaun: "I think that we could probably help... The portal network the Resistance has been constructing leads to a number of regions outside of Unova... We could check and see if one of them went to Almia...">

<Vlad: "But... You're our teammate...">

<Lardna: "I know, I don't like this situation any more than you do...">

"There's a way that you could keep in touch with us... Or at least the other Pokemon with us... And it might help you find your trainer through her Pokemon..."

<Lardna: "What's tha- OH... I think I see where you're going... But... You're okay with this?">

"I won't admit that it's not an uncomfortable proposition for me... But it would be incredibly selfish for me to ask you to sever some old ties for my sake..."

<Gligar!Vlad: "... But what happens if you manage to fix this timeline...?">

-The room goes silent-

"... I really don't know... But I hope that there's a way that we can resolve all of this without causing a lot of pain..."

-Somewhere else in Castellia-

-The Tyranitar from earlier enters a darkened room-

<Tyranitar: "(*gulp*) Th-The boss is gonna have my hide when he hears about what happened earlier...">

<???: "Oh? Why do you say that?">

-The room flickers and the form of a Zoroark appears before the Tyranitar-

<Tyranitar: "AAH! BOSS!">

<"Burgh": "Muahahahaha! I see that that trick never gets old, does it?">

<Tyranitar: "C-Can't you just walk in, boss?">

<"Burgh": "But that's so boring! Now... I believe you were going to tell me something? About how you failed to capture one of the most wanted Pokemon in this region and managed to get an entire ambush of more than 60 enforcers beaten up?">

<Tyranitar: "H-How did you-?">

<???: "Mmm hmm hmm... The same way he knows about everything...">

-The form of a familiar-looking female Unfezant appears-

<Familiar!Unfezant: "Someone saw it...">

M'kay.

-Katan finally knocks out the Zoroark and makes his way over to Hecate and Epona, who have worn down Dragonair considerably. The three make one final attack together—Hecate Night Daze, Epona Megahorn, Katan Aerial Ace—and finally knock her out. Hecate and Katan turn to the circle of remaining guards, while Epona gallops over to me and Blue-

Epona: <Helen, are you—>

I'm fine Epona, get Blue out of here.

-I help Blue onto her back and charges out of the building, tossing 'mons aside with Megahorn. I run over to where Hecate and Katan are standing back to back, fighting off the remaining guards. The last few go down and we leave the pagoda, both Pokemon looking utterly spent-

-After a fierce fight, "Clair" collapses.-

-pant- You win. -pant- I am dishonoured. -pant- There is only one solution.

-She takes a step back off the edge of the platform.-

NO! -I dive across it, and...-

-In the abandoned apartment-

"So how do we go about this?"

<Lardna: "... I'm not sure at this point... I mean, you said that you wanted to expose that Zoroark that's controlling the gym. And then you wanted to look for portals... But...">

<Aloysius: "But what?">

<Lardna: "I'm not sure if you'd be safer in a group, or broken up...">

<Kat: "Why's that?">

<Lardna: "If you're in a tight group... You'll be easier for those goons to isolate and bog down... But if you're not... You'll be in much greater danger if you get ambushed...">

"Hmm... Do you have any input, Dr. Tagg?"

-In a darkened room elsewhere in Unova-

<"Burgh": "So... I take it that you're already aware of what a failure of this magnitude merits, right?">

-Starting to tremble-

<Tyranitar: "N-No, boss! Pl-Please! I-It was a lapse, I swear!">

<"Burgh": "... If I were to go strictly by the book...">

<Familiar!Unfezant: "Mmm hmm hmm... Why don't you?">

<"Burgh": "A few reasons... One... Tyranitar don't exactly grow on trees. Two... There's that psychotic fat lump up in Nimbasa at the moment. Three... The book kinda sucks.">

<Tyranitar: "... I-I don't understand boss...">

<"Burgh": "Disposing of Pokemon of your caliber for singular failures is the sort of thing that that idiot child from Black City would do... And just look at where that got her...">

<Tyranitar: "Wh-What about your boss, boss? D-Don't they mind?">

<Familiar!Unfezant: "Mmm hmm hmm... Do you honestly think that they care about how we get things done?">

<"Burgh": "If that were so, that prissy Serperior general of theirs would have been turned into a pair of boots a long time ago...">

<Tyranitar: "S-So I'm g-getting another ch-chance?">

<"Burgh": "You are... Just keep in mind that if you can't work with someone who doesn't play by the book, I'll have you reassigned to someone who does...">

<Familiar!Unfezant: "Think of this as your first 'strike'...">

<Tyranitar: "R-Right, boss...">

Basket: <Oh! Hello, Silent, Maektrite.>

<Finally convinced my flock I wasn't completely crazy with the whole timeline mess and insane computers and human borther and all. So I was able to bring the boys back here while we... do whatever you do in a situation like this.>

<So, here's Mint, and Boldo.>

Mint and Boldo: <Oh hai!> -wave leaves simultaniously-

...forgive me for asking but.. are they twins?

Mint and Boldo: <Identical!>

uh... -sweatdrops-

Mint: <Haha! Love doing that!>

Boldo: <Heh, freaks everyone out!>

-the two high-five their leaf wings-

-...grab her hand.-

"Clair": Let go of me!

No! -I reach around my back and pick a Dusk Ball off my belt-

"Clair": What are you doing?

You'll thank me later. -I use the Dusk Ball-

-"Clair" gets sucked inside, and is captured.-

-I collapse on the platform, breathing heavily, relieved that it's over.-

I'd say that was a success, but we still have to get out of here.

I'm afraid you'll have to swim. I don't have a Pokemon that can Surf with me.

Why didn't I just bring Hermes? Idiot!

Well, staying together increases our strength, but makes us an easier target. Splitting up increases our chances of getting under the radar, but it also makes it so that a single group can be easily overwhelmed. This is tough.

-falls asleep-

-In the abandoned apartment-

"Hmm... Maybe it would be better if we stuck together..."

<Milo: "Yeah, those ambushes aren't going to get any smaller after today...">

<Vesta: "So we go to the gym first... And then look for portals?">

<"Burgh": "Well... The other 'gym leaders' in this region are having a nasty tendency to get ratted out recently... Brass is having a fun time shoehorning in last-minute replacements...">

<Tyranitar: "So you think that those guys will be coming after you?">

<"Burgh": "With that kind of power with them? I'm surprised that they haven't come knocking on the gym door already!">

<Familiar!Unfezant: "Mmm hmm hmm... How do you plan on getting around that?">

<"Burgh": "Simple... If any of those Pokemon show up tomorrow, they'll need to fight their way out of that gym...">

<Tyranitar: "What if they run for it bo- Err... Richard?">

<"Burgh": "Hmm... I can get someone to damage the road on Sky Arrow Bridge tonight... It'll be light enough for it to be easily fixable, but serious enough to give us a reason to shut it down to traffic tomorrow...">

<Familiar!Unfezant: "Which would leave it open for this city's forces to use it for an ambush... Mmm hmm hmm... How delicious...">

<"Burgh": "Have the enforcers beef up patrols on the northern outskirts and at the ferry terminals... Those Pokemon aren't going anywhere fast from this town!">

<Tyranitar: "Right! I'll inform the others right away!">

<"Burgh": "You're dismissed then... Keep in mind that you have two chances left... And this is your last one in this town...">

<Tyranitar: "Y-Yes, b- Richard...">

-The Tyranitar hastily leaves-

<"Burgh": "As for you...">

<Familiar!Unfezant: "Yes?">

<"Burgh": "I need you to also go looking for those Pokemon from earlier...">

So I guess we'll be staying here for the night and making a break for it in the morning.

Helios: -Offhandedly- <I wonder how Algira's doing.>

I'm sure she's probably doing fine.

I wonder how Fool's doing, perhaps I shouldn't have left her alone at the Entralink and brought her with me. Oh well, can't change the past.

-A Salamence is flying over the road surface-

<Goon!Salamence: "'Damage it a bit, but not too much!' Honestly, what sort of instructions are those?!">

-Flies along the roadbed-

<Goon!Salamence: "Hmm... Thing's supposed to be tough as nails... So I'm probably going to need to hit it with something huge...">

-The Salamence uses Hyper Beam laterally along the roadbed, ripping up the asphalt, causing the raised pedestrian walkway to tilt, and one of the cables to snap, which narrowly misses-

<Goon!Salamence: "AAAAAAAAHHHH! (*pant*) Oh Arceus! (*pant*) That was way too close!">

-Surveys the damage, still winded from the Hyper Beam-

<Goon!Salamence: "... Looks good enough. The only people and Pokemon that would want to cross that thing would either be nuts, or desperate.">

-Flies off, content-

-Lardna is approaching the figure of a dozing Emolga-

<Lardna: "Well he's alive... So that's a good sign...">

<Dozing!Emolga: "Zzz... Oh, what I would give for the others to see this...">

<Lardna: "Hey, wake up...">

<Awake!Emolga: "Zzz... Huh? OH! Wait! Who are you? Wait... Emboar? What are you doing here?!">

<Lardna: "It's been a long few months, hasn't it Emolga?">

<Awake!Emolga: "No kidding! Our trainer's been so worried about you, Psyduck, and Gloom!">

<Lardna: "... I just realized that she never gave us names, did she?">

<Awake!Emolga: "Uh... She always had trouble coming up with good names... But worry about that later, I've got to go get her! She'll be so- Wait... This isn't the house... Where are we?">

<Lardna: "... It's a long story...">

Oh, and in regards to the Dark Stone...Would you mind if I had a look at it? Just for a short while...

Flare: <But that's the think with taking risks. There's a chance they'll blow up in your face...But that's what makes it so rewarding if things do work out.>

-The Lucario says nothing. Instead, he leans in and give the Blaziken a kiss on the beak.-
