Colt ascended the steps, confident in his team that they’d be able to win. The steps dragged on for a little too long, so when he finally reached the top, he was halfway through a can of Lemonade.

Sitting in the throne across from him was some glamorous-looking lady with flowing blonde hair and a white dress that reminded him of the Aether Foundation, mostly from both the logo on her breast and the yellow highlights on the skirt.

“Shall we get started?” She asked as she stood up and took a few strides forward.

Colt grabbed his headphones and removed them from his neck. “No more words. Just the beauty of Pokémon in the heat of battle,” he said deathly seriously.

Lusamine nodded. They each grabbed a ‘ball and threw it forward. Colt replaced his headphones and nodded his head rhythmically.

Clefable forewent status and just blasted Pyukumuku.

Pyukumuku, injured somewhat, extended a glimmering hand in front of herself that left a glimmer.

Clefable complained, but only Pyukumuku heard. It was something she anticipated.

Clefable once again blasted the Water-type through the Light Screen.

Pyukumuku wasn’t gonna take anymore. She grabbed the Light Screen and used it to fling herself into Clefable.

Clefable staggered backwards, surprised at how much it had hurt. She didn’t want it, so she tried to ward off Pyukumuku’s attempts at damage.

The sad part is Pyukumuku was making steps to confirm that did not happen, and succeeded afterwards.

Having forced Clefable to attack, the Water-type steeled herself again.

Clefable just stood there and delivered a couple of attacks, not caring about Pyukumuku having hurt her pride.

Lusamine returned the Fairy-type before sending out her second, who struck quickly.

Colt wasn’t very surprised, and sent out his next ‘mon like clockwork.

Sylveon met eyes with Lilligant, who had started twirling around. Soon she did as well, falling down to the ground.

<Bluh,> she groaned as she stood back up, world spinning around her. She didn’t risk anything, instead demanding accuracy. Which she got.

The stars stung a little harder than normal, Lilligant realized. This Sylveon was powerful. Time to stop her from making moves.

It didn’t stop her ability to form ethereal constructs, as evidenced by a loud noise followed by Sylveon looking noticeably better off.

Lilligant decided this was going rather slow, and just went for damage output.

Sylveon took the move with grace as the Light Screen started to fade, and she responded accordingly.

<DID YOU REALLY NOT NOTICE THAT?!>

A glow appeared behind her left ear.

<SERIOUSLY? WHAT ELSE CAUSES THAT GLEAM?!>

Sylveon paused to get her voice back. Just as well, given the next Pokémon Lusamine had in store for the Eeveelution.

Milotic made her presence known by firing off a massive jet of water at Sylveon.

Sylveon got back up to her feet, summoned a few more stars and weakly fired them at Milotic.

Milotic merely blasted Sylveon with a little ice before she collapsed.

Colt paused to contemplate his options. He grabbed a Pokéball and realized, why not?

Upon landing, he was met with some blue fire that still hurt.

Helmsman didn’t even try to acknowledge it, instead favoring to just power up for the future. <Get hype!

Milotic paused at the remark before she attacked, this time deciding to try to keep him stationary.

But the Formidable Pokémon didn’t much care he was slower, instead lashing out with a seamitar in a brutal manner.

The Samurott beamed a little, pausing when he saw who was next.

Not sure how fast this thing was, Helmsman quickly drew some water into his seamitar and fired it off.

<Barely a dent,> Helmsman noticed as a couple of paws then rammed into his face.

“Helmsman!” Colt announced as he got his Samurott’s attention, who had been priming the water needed for Waterfall. “Now that it’s raining more than ever-“

<Know that we’ll still have each other!>

Hydro Vortex Tempest!

“<Okay, really?!> Colt and Helmsman sighed as they saw the Normal-type take the move with only noticeable damage at best.

And then attack.

Colt sighed and considered his fighting-types.

Who would want in on this?

He had been using Roy a little too often...

He landed and fired.

Colt and Lucario found the damage Helmsman could not. Bewear slammed his head into Lucario’s as he and his trainer celebrated.

Lucario staggered backwards, his wrist spikes lining up. They fired, hitting Bewear square in the chest.

Lopunny quickly lashed out with a fist coated in fire.

Lucario, somewhat frustrated, rushed Lopunny down with a strike to her legs.

He looked back and felt a pang of regret.

Lopunny lashed out at the dumbstruck Lucario.

Lucario apologized under his breath as he rammed a fist into Lopunny. Said fist left a purple tint on her.

Colt returned his fourth and contemplated. He knew who to sent out, and thus did.

Lopunny smiled, and approached Xatu with a fist coated in ice.

Lusamine was applauding Colt reasonably slowly. Colt paused. “Wait, only five?”

“I don’t understand your complaint - you’ve won, right? At the rate we’re going, even if I had a sixth you’d win,” she argued, a hint of understanding in her voice.

Colt had to concede she had a point.

“So where do I register my team?”

“Oh, it’s automated. You can leave now,” Lusamine waved off as she sat back in the throne.

Colt descended the stairs, not on the sunshine he had anticipated.

Maybe some actual interaction.
