Every: Well, there aren't any battles going on...guess I'll get some fresh air.

-stands up and goes to walk outside-

"Should I? Ah, Tangent couldn't understand him anyways even if he wanted to tell him..."

"I'm doing good, I was just helping Nadia out to learn how to fly a bit better with my Pokemon."

<Milo: "Namely Vlad, the rest of us have pretty much just been watching them.">

-Getting up-

<Nadia: "Oww... Wait, Tangent still lets you go off on your own, Basket?">

— So... evidentñy I'd have to go and support that thing with the experimentation facility. I guess I can just go and sign it up, Tangent? Would like to go change my clothes in the meantime, and check on Maekrite and Dintel anyway... *looks at Tagg* Didn't they give you any trouble overnight?

Yeah, so she cried and ended up running away from us, and I ended up finding her curled up in a corner. We talked, and the Unown ended up teleporting us back to Slateport, before teleporting us back to the Sinjoh Ruins while we were still asleep just as a prank. (I forgot to mention that before then Anom got teleported there by the Unown for kicks and ended up marking Jane as a target for his "destroy all shippers" campaign.) After making our way down to Blackthorn, we got to the airport, and took the plane to Nuvema Town's airport.

Latias: (running over to where Wolf and I are) Oh, DS! That battle was so awesome! Rainbow here (holding up her plushie) can't stop talking about how awesome it was!

Basket: <You understand me? Well, that is convenient, now.>

<Tangent is as scatterbrained as always. He just fell asleep in Abigail's igloo last night without gathering the rest of us back up. Not really sure where everyone is now, in fact. Saw Rufus on the roof a bit ago, at least.>

<He teach you about thermals, Nadia? In a city like this, they are very handy.>

— The Minccino research? *blinks, remembers* Oh, yes, it's taken long because of all the new information that keeps popping out from Unova, but otherwise it's almost reached the publication stage. What I'm trying to study now is the way Minccino in a common area establish social ties after they've ended up tidying their dens and strolling area.

(Raises an eyebrow and changes his tone slightly)

— What is getting me into troubles is the Latii research. Couldn't find that douché with the Latios yesterday... he probably has left already.

- Notices Jane -

Oh, hi Jane! I just won my first Gold Conference battle! Did you see it?

Huh? Oh, uh, no. I actually just woke up ten minutes ago.

-has wandered outside of the stadium, lets out Pokemon-

Diesel: Krrick!

Those fangirls swamping the place yesterday? Silent lured them in with Nidoran and cake. But now we aren't sure where to apply our new test subjects... Silent refuses to impose them on the Nido colony, though...

Ah well. Tagg has been telling us about your groups's adventures. What were the Unown like? I've never managed to see any of them...

-Rufus wanders up to the group. The Sandile is still dazed after falling off the roof-

— And Justin Bibarel, Tangent, don't forget old, good, false Justin. Jane, we're trying to figure out what to do with the captured fangirls. I (somehow) siad use the hidden environment testing facility, the other alternative is using them for Larvitar research. What do you think?

Oh well, it was just my first battle. If I keep doing this well, I'm sure you'll have plenty of other oppurtunities to see me battle in the tournament!

I don't care about the fangirls as long as they're out of my hair, but try not to torture them. They didn't do anything worthy of physical subjugation.

Stratus: <Now, I'm not the best battler in the world, as Luke and Lake have already seen for themselves. I've won enough battles to eventually become a Dragonite, but I've never been that good at them.

So, naturally, when I evolved into a Dragonite, I was dreading the fight I would have to have with my Dad. I practised every day leading up to that fight, trying my best to get stronger. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't make myself any better.

Then, finally, the day of our battle arrived. My whole extended family turned up to watch. I was shaking with fright, but I had to do my best. I couldn't lose to my father. But...>

...But?

Stratus: <...But I did. I tried as hard as I could to defeat him. But I couldn't. He countered ever one of my Physical Attacks, he shot me with an Ice Beam whenever I tried to attack from far away, and I didn't get a chance to use any moves like Dragon Dance or Roost. So...I lost.>

Lake: <Then what happened?>

-Stratus looks pained simply recalling the memory.-

Stratus: <I still remember what my father said to me next like it happened yesterday. He told me: "You're pathetic. You're an embarrassment to me and everyone in our family, and I am ashamed to call you my son. I want you to leave, and never return. You are no longer welcome here."

So...I left...>

-Stratus hangs his head in sadness.-

Stratus: <...And I've never been back since.>

Lake: <Oh gosh...>

Woolly: <(Sniff) That's so sad!>

Sol: <That is... Unbelievable. I'm so sorry that happened to you Stratus.>

Flare: <He disowned you just because you can't battle as well as him? What a jerk!>

Unite: <That's just awful.>

Aww, Stratus...

-I go over to the Dragonite and place an arm on his shoulder.-

I see why you came here now! You want to get stronger to prove to your dad that you are good at batlling so he'll let you come back, aren't you?

-Stratus nods.-

Stratus: <...Yeah.>

...Well, you're in luck. I'm a Pokémon trainer. Bringing out the best in Pokémon is what I do. And I'm certain I can make you into an awesome battler, Stratus.

Stratus: <Are you sure? You saw how bad I was out there today!>

You weren't that bad! You managed to get a few hits in! I'm sure if we work at it a bit more, you'll be a brilliant fighter, I'm sure of it! And I'm going to help make you better! In fact, all of us will help you! Right?

Lake: <Yeah!>

Woolly: <I'll help you!>

Sol: <Of course I will!>

Flare: <RIGHT ON!>

Unite: <You can count on us!>

Stratus: <...(Sniff).>

Woolly: <Aww...Are you crying?>

Stratus: <Yeah...But only because I'm so happy!>

-Stratus picks me up and hugs me really tight.-

Stratus: <THANK YOU!!! I PROMISE I'LL TRY AND BECOME THE STRONGEST DRAGONITE EVER FOR YOU GUYS! I SWEAR ON IT!!!>

Urk! That's great Stratus! But could you not hold me so tightly? I'm finding it hard to breath...

Stratus: <Oh...>

-Stratus loosens his grip a bit, blushing from embarrassment.-

Stratus: <Sorry, my bad!>

It's okay. No harm done.

<Nadia: "Oh, b-b-but I...">

<Vlad: "... Um... I guess I should have elaborated on that constant altitude thing... Right now she's still chaining ascents and dives.">

-Nadia lowers her head in shame-

"Nadia, it's okay... Every flier goes through this at some point..."
