Brie: Yeah. I didn't really plan on becoming a full-time trainer, honestly? I had Skyfire, that was pretty much enough. I was wandering around Kanto with her, she ended up evolving after a fight with some ghosts in Lavender Town. I decided, hey, why not try the Gym in Pewter City? You know, they'd all be easier after that, right? We were excited to fly together for the first time, I figured it would be far enough south to be out of range.

(dryly) It was not.

-an odd shape appears in the distance, quickly flying toward them; it's a strangely bird-like, feathered Aztec Camera with giant chained earrings hanging from fleshy hooks on its chest; it prepares a Psybeam-

Dioh: 'scuse me! -takes aim and shoots it down with two arrows- Now, that was a Skeptic, one of the many types of fiends here. They patrol the edges of this island like sentinels. If there's one, there's a crowd...

-a high-pitched child's scream goes off in the ruins not far away; in its direction are more Skeptics-

Dioh: -looks happy- Ah, so we don't have to go looking for a rescue quest! Fantastic! -runs toward the screaming, picking off more fiends as he goes-

Brie: Pretty much. So yeah, we ended up in the hospital, weren't thrilled about flying in Kanto after that, so I went to Johto instead. Caught Tara and Whirlygig, ended up going on a journey from there.

But I was antsy around birds, and I'm pretty sure it showed? So they'd get antsy around me too. Got to the point where it's a self-fulfilling prophecy, pretty much.

-she sighs-

So yeah. Birds. Nerves. It's better now that I can actually talk to them, but like...

Kai: Yeah, I get that.

Kai: I used to have a colossal fear of Toxicroak, and as a result, a general distrust of Croagunk as well. Which, from my experiences, had backing. My mom was killed by one, before she came back as a Golurk. I was almost killed by one, and I still have the scar to prove it. And the heart damage. Deimos had three of them, almost as if to specifically get to me, and now I have blood on my hands that I'm never gonna totally wash off because of that bastard. And hell, even just hearing about Ever's Toxicroak helped to cement my distrust of them. Only reason I beat my fear was because J-Team shenanigans happened and now Toxicroak is my Pokeform.

Brie: Oh...oh Lugia, that's awful, I'm so sorry. I'm glad things are better, but...wow.

-she hugs back, and then blinks-

...Ever has a Toxicroak? I can't picture him with a Poison-type.

-she stirs, and gradually sits up despite her beaten, half-dead appearance. It's a younger Channah, about ten years old, in a floral dress and pink headband-

Ten: Agh... -blinks up at Dioh, squinting- Y-you...? -tenses, then shoves surprisingly hard at him despite the obvious pain she's in- You need, to stop... following me everywhere!

Dioh: -backs away- Uh, alright, alright...

Ten: -turns and sees Tagg, then starts, her hard expression turning to happiness- ...Tagg! Tagg, hey! -she stands to greet him, wobbling-
