But anyway, while I don't trust Muninn one bit either, Ever's got him under control and he knows that if he ever harmed Ever I'd make him wish he died a second time.

Rose? As we both know, while Rose shares Paula's face, she's not Paula and shouldn't be treated as her.

Verax? It's weird to say, but despite the fact that he's tried to kill me about three times, and came closer to doing so than anyone else not named Tokarev or Constantin, I'd trust him with my life. I was leery about even letting him in three years ago, but we couldn't have beaten Illusion or the Avalon without him, or at least not without heavy casualties, so it's definitely worked out.

Kaito: I've only seen him once or twice, and I defended him when Lucius was doing his thing again, but... honestly, I don't know whether Lucius is actually wrong like I said he was. I don't know him well enough to be sure that he's not conspiring with other former Cipher operatives, but I want to believe that he's not just so I don't have anything to worry about.

-Kaito is not the one to get the call, for the sake of narrative convenience.-

-Now that Vierr doesn't have that mess of a project to worry about, he has taken to meditating at the Lake of the Sunne and Moone.-

-For who knows how long.-

Elysia: <Vierr, you're doing it again. You're doing that thing where you get all obsessed with an Aura Nexus.>

Vierr: Elysia, I'm fine. It's a calming place to meditate. It's not like I'm at risk of doing... like, anything.

Elysia: <When's the last time you ate?>

-Vierr's stomach answers before he does, growling loudly at the mention of food.-

Vierr: ...Recently enough. Ignore that.

Elysia: <Don't make me start poking you. We both know how you feel about claws in your stomach.>

Vierr: Fine, fine! Just. Ten minutes, and I'll be up.

-Elysia groans and flops onto her back.-

Elysia: <You're so boring.>

Vierr: Just for that we're making it fifteen.

-Elysia grumbles.-

???: You should listen to your Sableye you know.

-Vierr blinks, and turns toward the sound of the voice.-

Vierr: ...I know that voice from somewhere.

-A woman in very familiar gear with a fancy staff and a Dunsparce is there-

Polly: Glad you recognise me, Vierr.

Vierr: You... you're one of the Guardians that showed up during that whole glitch mess, weren't you?

Polly: Yep! Polly's the name.

Dunsparce: <Got it memorized?>

Polly: Dunsparce no

-Vierr stares at the Dunsparce, before shaking his head.-

Vierr: I'm gonna pretend I don't recognize exactly what she's quoting. Anyway, is there... uh, any particular reason you decided to show up?

Polly: Two main reasons, really.

-Vierr raises an eyebrow-

Polly: One, I don't think you have found any of the underground Aura Guardians as far as I'm aware of.

Vierr: I wish. Ken, I think is just experienced, not a full-blown Guardian. And everyone else... yeah, pretty sure they're just hedges like me.

Polly: Hm. Well, that's not a complete loss. Even informal training is still training. Problem is you're indecisive on who.

-Vierr raises an eyebrow-

Vierr: Well, maybe I'm just being trained by a few people? I've got four different types to work with, maybe I like to train around.

-Polly raises her own eyebrow-

Polly: Well regardless... I feel I oughta take matters into my own hands.

Vierr: ...If you say so. All right, what do you suggest?

Polly: I'll train you! I'll be a voice in your head, a figure in your dreams; either way I'll whip you into shape!

Vierr: Uh. Right. Mind not being too intrusive a presence in my head? Khoshekh freaks me out like that enough.

Polly: Duly noted, but I can't leave one of my own descendants in the dust when he's got this kind of potential.

Vierr: Oh, now you mention you're my ancestor, why didn't you explain that earlier? Sign me right up, then.

Polly: ...I'm going to interpret that as not sarcasm and finish. On the list of of others you're related to, you ought to get to know your cousin and another descendant of mine Nico better. He's a powerful Psychic, you could learn something.

-Vierr groans-

Vierr: Rrrright, Psychic. The type I technically have but can barely do anything with.

Polly: Exactly! He's good at raw physical Psychic offense like me; he could teach you some tricks!

-Vierr blinks-

Vierr: Well, I guess that explains things, my physical specialty probably came from you. If you can call the only thing I have any ability for at all a "specialty."

Polly: Well the thing is. Your pan-Auric ability came from my Dark Obscuric husband. Who is a direct descendant of Kan'al'colel, meaning guess what? You and Nico are too. We've got a hell of a complicated bloodline.

Vierr: ...Welp. That explains... things. Kan'al'colel... is that the Ruler of Four Quarters' name? Because, like, none of the stories I read ever actually gave a name, just a hundred different variations of their title.

Polly: Bingo, sonny.

Vierr: Huh. The more you know, I guess. So, anyway... uh, how far back an ancestor are you?

Polly: About a thousand years back.

Vierr: So right between Kan'al'colel and the age of Conquest. Right, got it.

Elysia: <That video project made you such a nerd.>

Vierr: I'll have you know I've been interested in history since before you were born!

-Polly and her Dunsparce both snicker. Vierr rolls his eyes.-

Vierr: Whatever. All right, so, any chance you know a bit more about Kan'al'colel, since I've got the misfortune of only having 1300-year-old stories to look at?

Polly: Well here's the thing. A ring containing their soul is still around, as are four doohickeys containing fragments of it. And the ring is in the hands of someone with very well-intentioned but horrible ideas who also has a history of going mad with power.

Vierr: Wait, what? I knew about the four Artifacts, but there's a ring too? Who's got it?

Polly: A certain Gudrunn Ginunng. You and Nico need to find her and either talk or smack some sense into her.

Vierr: ...Of course. Of course it's her, she's weird and was oddly interested in me more than I was interested in her. I guess I know why now.

Polly: It's the Dark Obscuric in you, you can sense when something is up. That said, she doesn't mean any harm... yet.

Vierr: ...Right. So. Talk to Nico, confront Gudrunn, nab the ring from her while I'm at it? Since, it's sorta my ancestor we're talking about here.

Polly: And it's my responsibility as an Aura Guardian to deal with this somehow! But you are correct.

Vierr: Of course.

-Beat-

Vierr: ...You know, I'd expected my first real meeting with a real Aura Guardian to be more... "whoa cool you're a real Aura Guardian holy shit" but this is just... "oh, cool, okay, whatever."

Polly: ...Is it because I'm dead?

Vierr: I dunno, maybe. It might just be because I was occupied with meditation stuff.

-Elysia hops back on his shoulder-

Elysia: <By the way, I think you're nearing your ten minute limit, Terrible.>

Vierr: I told you, we're making it fifteen.

-Polly promptly thwacks Vierr in the head with her staff-

Vierr: Ow! Okay, fine, I'll stop!

Elysia: <Thank you, Polly. I think my poking has stopped working.>

Polly: You're damn well welcome.

Dunsparce: <See you around, partners.>

-And they are gone-

Vierr: ...Well, that happened.

Elysia: <Go get some food, you idiot.>

Vierr: I am, I am!

-He starts heading back toward Ula'ula Meadow on his way back to Tapu Village-

Kaito: That's the problem, we don't really know all that much about what we're dealing with. Maybe Myra can get as much info from the rest of them as she can, I'll have to talk to her about that once I get back.

Tagg's Place

Robin: At the very least we're going to have to get someone to deal with that Mewnium Z. Like an actual Mew.

Mezzo: See, this girl has the right idea.

Lapras♀: <Whatever you say.>

Mezzo: Why are you still here?

Pianis: Because she's our way out. I told you, relax.
