-With the Trevenant unconscious, Scarlette walks up to the chain.-
Scarlette: All right, let's see...
Bedhead: Be careful!
-She picks up the chain. The moment she does, she feels her body temperature suddenly drop about ten degrees. She shudders, but still gives it a simple tug to test it out before dropping it again, the chill disappearing as soon as she breaks contact with it.-
Scarlette: Eugh... I can tell that there's something weird about it.
???: Oh, come on!
-A Lampent angrily floats toward Bedhead after observing Scarlette and her "attempt".-
Lampent: This is the best help you could get? She's missing an arm, for Kyogre's sake!
Bedhead: I-I know, I didn't bring her for her strength! I was hoping she could figure out—
Lampent: And I was hoping we could actually be done with this accursed ship, but no!
Scarlette: Oh, boy, here we go...
-She digs out a second Poke Ball, and sends out Calliope between Bedhead and the Lampent.-
Lampent: Hey! Get out of the way!
Calliope: <The first thing you say to me, and I already don't like you!>
-Calliope sprays a bit of water in the Lampent's face, damaging and infuriating it.-
Lampent: THAT'S IT! I'm putting an end to this!
-He immediately fires an Inferno at Calliope. The Brionne dodges easily, leaving an incinerated chunk of wood in the already broken hull.-
Calliope: <Hah-hah! Is that the best you've got?>
Bedhead: Oh, nonono, please be careful, I don't want this ship to go completely under, oh no...
Scarlette: All right, Calliope, listen to me — use Surf!
Calliope: <This'll be a piece of cake!>
-A wave of water crashes into the Lampent, pushing it back and dealing massive damage.-
Lampent: Urk—! You'll pay for this!
-Another Inferno, another miss. Another smoldering hole in the hull.-
Calliope: <You know, you really need to cool down a bit.>
-He uses Surf a second time. This time, it knocks the Lampent off the ship completely, sending it splashing into the water.-
Calliope: <Ha! You deserved that!>
Scarlette: Kind of unnecessary, but... oh well.
-A glow starts to envelop Calliope...-

-The glow fades, and Calliope is a Primarina.-
Calliope: <Awww yeah! I look awesome now!>
Scarlette: Good job. Now, we need to figure out a way to pull this chain up...
-She looks around, and spots a Jellicent with a broom trying to clean up the ashes from the Lampent's attacks.-
Scarlette: Hey! Jellicent! Can I borrow your broom?
-The Jellicent turns her head.-
Jellicent: Are you... trying to take my job?
Scarlette: What? No, I—
Jellicent: I will not allow it! For over a hundred years, I've been swabbing the decks, and I shall for centuries to come!
Scarlette: You can do more after, I just need—
Jellicent: I will not stand for this insult to the janitorial arts!
Scarlette: ...Janitorial... arts?
Jellicent: VICTORY OR DEATH!
-The Jellicent smacks Scarlette with the broom.-
Scarlette: Ow! You're already dead, there's no victory to be had!
-You've never seen a Jellicent look more offended.-
Jellicent: HOW DARE YOU!? You will regret this day for eternity!
-She smacks Scarlette with the broom again. Viper buzzes angrily and spits a Thunderbolt at the Jellicent, electrocuting it enough to make it drop the broom.-
Scarlette: Thank goodness, brooms hurt. Think you could keep her occupied for a bit?
-Viper buzzes in affirmation, and starts exchanging attacks with the incensed Jellicent. Scarlette picks up the broom, and goes over to the chain.-
Scarlette: Let's see how sturdy this is...
-She sticks the broom in a chain link, and gives it a tug. The broom handle holds, and Scarlette is safe from the mysterious chill.-
Scarlette: It works! Sweet! Okay, give me a second...
-She goes into the ship to find more objects to do similar things with.-
You're shivering. Are you afraid?
Clerk: Sadly we don't keep track of our former employees. You can have this brochure if you like!
Forte: Uh, no thanks.
Pianis: I can't wait to build a deck of ice elementals.
Cinnamon: <What's an elemental?>
Pianis: It's uh...
Shadow: <...Think of one of those Ice types whose body is made from nothing but ice, and apply that to other types.>
Cinnamon: <Oh, so like me then? Am I an elemental?>
Pianis: Not really I think.
-Forte pauses a moment, then counts their Pokeballs on hand-
Forte: Hey guys, where's Celeste?
Pianis: I thought Shadow was trying to teach her more about how to read.
Shadow: <No, she went to the library for that... but then I thought she went back to her ball.>
-Forte opens Celeste's ball, and nothing comes out-
Pianis: ...Hoo boy.
-Celeste is wandering around-
Celeste: <Library book, library book, where could you be...?>

-Scarlette comes back with a bunch of assorted items — brooms, swords, spears, oars, et cetera — that can fit in the chain links. She sticks them in the chain, spaced out enough to fit a person or Pokemon between them. She sticks wood planks next to some of the sharper objects.-
Scarlette: All right, anyone who's not unreasonably angry for any reason, come on and help! Just, careful not to touch the chain itself, okay?
-The ghosts chitter, and all gather around the chain. Scarlette lets out Gus and Pun-Pun, and all of them start pushing on the makeshift handles, trying to drag the chain out of the water.-
-Some of the miscellaneous objects break. Some of the ghosts give up. However, after a bit of effort, whatever had the chain snagged at the bottom of the ocean finally gives way.-
Scarlette: Yes! Finally!
-The chain suddenly starts pulling back on them. Something in the water tugs on it, rocking the boat a bit.-
-More, seaweed-covered chains shoot up out of the water, and hooks at the end cling to the side of the hull and dig into the floor.-
-Clankclankclankclank.-
-The thing gets snagged on the bottom of the boat... and rips right through the hull. It reveals itself as a creature, cloaked in Ghost Obscura and consisting of red seaweed, the ship's steering wheel, a massive rusted anchor, and — lodged in the chain — a purple sword that would be familiar to anyone other than Scarlette.-
Captain Chantey the Dhelmise: It has been far too long! But now, it is time to seek revenge on the gods who have cursed us!
Bedhead: Um, captain... I think there's something off—
Chantey: SILENCE! I sense... off that girl, the same Aura as those accursed beasts from the sky! She must be one of them disguised as our own former kind!
-Chantey wraps his chains around several of the very ghosts that helped save him, absorbing them in a manner similar to a certain Ranseian warlord and becoming even more massive. Unlike the warlord in question, however, he retains his form as a Dhelmise.-
Bedhead: Oh no... oh dear...
Chantey: You shall get the first taste of my wrath against the gods!

<I was chilling in the Center earlier,> the Rockruff began, jinking his head towards the center's doors. <and out of sheer boredom, I eavesdropped on a few texts - sorry - and someone mentioned something about an Ultra Beast.
<Now, I dunno about you - this is probably an everyday occurrence for ya - but I've always wanted to meet a legendary.> Colton explained.

-Scarlette's team gathers in front of her.-
Scarlette: Guys, this thing is literally trying to kill us so let's not stick to, y'know, normal Totem battle rules, okay?
Bedhead: If that's the case, can I, uh, can I join you? I want to return our captain to normal just as you want to.
Scarlette: Sure, every ounce of help is appreciated.
Chantey: So my own first mate betrays me, I see! You will not be spared either!
-Chantey dislodges the anchor from his form, and swings it in an arc down on Bedhead. His disguise breaks, which protects him from taking damage before Chantey retracts it.-
Bedhead: I'm sorry, captain! I need to do this!
-He uses Charm, weakening Chantey's attacks.-
Scarlette: Thanks! Pun-Pun, Dhelmise look like Steel-type, but it's actually the seaweed that's the living part! Er, so to speak. It's Grass-type! Use Poison Gas, we'll do more damage with Venoshock in the long run!
Pun-Pun: <Okay! I can do that!>
-Pun-Pun spits a cloud of gas at Chantey. The red seaweed turns a sickly brown.-
Chantey: Haaaack! Insolent little...
Scarlette: Viper, Poison Jab! Calliope, Disarming Voice! Gus, Crunch!
-The three unleash their attacks on Chantey, doing massive damage. In rage, Chantey wraps Bedhead with an Anchor Shot, swings him around, and slams him into Viper, severely wounding both.-
Bedhead: Ow!
-Bedhead manages to use Pain Split on Chantey, which does significant damage. Viper, meanwhile, is not so well off.-
Viper: <Ow...>
-She tries to move, but winces.-
Viper: <...Gus, hit me one last time. You can ow do your transformy thingy that way! I'm not ow gonna be able to ow help any more anyway...>
Gus: <...Are you sure?>
Viper: <Yeah! Do it!>
Gus: <...If you say so.>
Bedhead: Uh, kid, I dunno if you could hear, but your Lycanroc and Charjabug are planning to—
-Gus smacks Viper with an Accelerock, knocking her out. He starts glowing, and Scarlette's eyes widen as the link is formed.-
Bedhead: ...Do... that. Whatever in Giratina's name that is.
Pun-Pun: <Wow... never actually got to see that before...>
-Pun-Pun shakes his head, and uses the Venoshock Scarlette had planned with him earlier. Calliope uses another Disarming Voice, while Gus's transformation finishes.-
Bedhead: ...Uh, do you think you could try to snatch that sword away from him like that now, weird Lycanroc? I think that's the thing that's making him so... crazy.
Gus and Scarlette: (simultaneously) <On it!
Chantey: YOU WILL NEVER TOUCH THIS SWORD!
-He swings Bedhead at Gus, but misses, instead simply tearing through the floor with his chain. In the process, Bedhead is knocked out. Gus jumps onto the chain and, with astonishing balance and speed, climbs up and clamps his jaw onto the Purple Sword.-
Chantey: NO! RELEASE THAT IMMEDIATELY—
-He's interrupted by another Venoshock and Disarming Voice. The distractions give Gus enough time to yank the sword out of the chain.-
Chantey: AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
-He flails his chain wildly, but all the ghosts he absorbed start spilling out. He tries to grab the sword again, but Gus is already out of range.-
Scarlette: We need to get rid of that thing immediately!
-Chantey falls to the floor, now a normal-sized, incredibly weak Dhelmise.-
Chantey: N-no... it must... be mine—
-The last thing he expected Scarlette to do was throw an Ultra Ball.-
Geothermal Power plant
-Two wormholes appear and from them, two power cord- like appendages reach for the cables, starting to feed on the electricity generated from the Power plant.-
My heart and actions are utterly unclouded. They are all those of 'Justice'.
Oh, by the way, I should have been more explicit about this, but Colton will change back into a human when he comes into contact with sunlight and need to ask if he wants to change again. Sorry for not being clearer on that ^_^;
Sholto: <Oh, well, I think the jury's out on whether they're legendaries, but they're a thing that exists, yeah.>

Haunter: ...You caught the captain.
Sableye: You CAUGHT the CAPTAIN!!!
Misdreavus: Is that even allowed?
Litwick: Does it matter? She saved him! We all owe our lives to her!
Litwick: ...You know what I meant!
Bedhead: Ughhhh... so what now...?
-As if on cue, the ship starts creaking again. It suddenly shifts dramatically.-
Scarlette: ...We need to get off this ship and to saftey. Immediately.
Shuppet: How? We're in the middle of the ocean!
-Some wood cracks below deck. Scarlette thinks quickly. An idea comes to her, but she grimaces at the thought.-
Scarlette: ...All right, who's got a good arm?
Cofagrigus: I've got four! :D
Scarlette: Good, that's four times as many as I have. Think you can throw this—
-She holds out the Ultra Ball containing Chantey-
Scarlette: Toward that?
-She uses her stub arm to gesture toward the Ultra Wormhole.-
Cofagrigus: ...Are you crazy!?
Scarlette: Are you not?
-The Cofagrigus opens its mouth to retort, but has no answer. The sound of more wood splitting is enough of a cue to make the Cofagrigus grab the Ultra Ball.-
Cofagrigus: It's been a hundred or so years since I've done this...
-He winds up, then lobs the ball in the direction of the wormhole. As Chantey is released, momentum carries the anchor into the hole, hooking him inside and letting the chain hang out, with all the wood pieces still on it. Pun-Pun skitters to grab the Ultra Ball as it falls.-
Scarlette: Everyone who can't fly, climb!
-They all start swarming the chain and climb up into the wormhole. At the very end, Scarlette, recalls all her Pokemon except Chantey, inhales and exhales deeply, then starts climbing as well as she can with one and a half arms. Some of the ghosts have the sense to pull the chain up with Scarlette hanging on.-
-With everyone inside, the wormhole closes and the ship collapses. Once again, the Purple Sword is lost to sea.-

<Yeah, but let's be fair,> Colton started, rubbing the back of his head. < The Ultra Beasts are basically Alolan Deoxae.>
<Deoxi.> Lucario countered. A Pokeball in Colton's sweater's pockets - still being worn by Lucario - burst.
<Deoxyso.> Sylveon proposed. Another one opened.
<Deoxes.> Minister, Colton's Stoutland, offered.
Before anyone could offer any more plural forms, Colton facepalmed, still with enough force to echo across the island. <We are NOT doing this! Let's just get to Malie.>

-Rose sends a frantic text to Tagg, as well as anyone else she knows, saying that Scarlette's gone missing.-
-She knows something bad happened. She doesn't know what.-

-Lights in the building starts to flicker as the electricity is depleting fast. Pretty soon, it will cause a black out.-

-Frieden and Krieg are walking to the library.-
Frieden: We really don't know where to start, do we?
Krieg: Gonna be honest, no we don't.
Frieden: Meh, until news comes, let's just stay in the library. Besides, something useful might be in there too.
-10 minutes later-

Frieden: What's it gonna fucking take, for me to get a SINGLE FUCKING INFORMATION HERE?
-Frieden throws a book on the floor-
Krieg: Clam down, and don't throw books, we'll get fined for the damage!

-Ren is in a room pouring over the notes that Gamma has complied with from talk from civilians and bits of conversation heard from police and medical staff...--Ren frowns as he sighs.-
Ren: Either we're dealing with an Ultra Beast, or a sexual predator who is REALLY good at hiding their tracks...
Kitsune: <So... What do you plan to do?>
Ren: Well it's obvious isn't it? I'm going to investigate. I'm not going to risk doing this by myself if it's an Ultra Beast, nor am I going to alert the entire J-Team in case it's more mundane.
-Ren brings up a listing of known J-Team Members.-
Ren: Dune and Pentigan are a must... And I'll get Blitz in on this, he's an Auric, and since Tagg seems to be otherwise occupied... Hopefully they'll be around acouple of others who can round out the party.
-Ren sends out a text message to Dune, Pent, and Blitz.-

Subject: Trouble in Ula'ula
Hello. Bad news. There's something going on in Ula'ula and considering the circumstances, it may be Ultra Beasts or something more mundane. But either way it's sinister. Here the major points:
- The victims were all found at the base of Mount Lanakila.
- While the returned victims are expected to make a full recovery, they remain in addled state - similar to the effects of drugs with incapacitating agents or a prolonged hypnotic state.-
- Beyond the minor cases of frostbite, all the women were found with minor abrasions on their palms, arms, legs, feet, and back.
- None of the abducted Pokemon have returned.
- Two other abductions have happened. One human, one Pokemon, both female.
- All female when at the the peak of their clarity, have all confirmed the existence of an extremely attractive male with white hair and blue eyes.
- Further, all confirm the existence of a castle or palace of ice.
- Authorities are not finding any man matching the description of the man, nor can they find the said "ice castle"
- Burrows and dens of wild Pokemon are being searched, but no luck.
I'm asking for help at least finding out what or who is causing this. No point in alerting the entire J-Team unless we are dealing with a huge threat, but no point in keeping it a secret either. But don't let too many people on this, since I don't want to run ourselves too thin.
-Ren hits send and looks out the window as he waits for responses.-
