-The Chalice teeters as if about to fall off his head-

-Mezzo is wandering through the sands, navigating by moonlight-

-Felis and Sunny are following along, while Freya is riding on Mezzo's shoulder-

Felis: <It's freezing here. Why are we going this way?>

Mezzo: I just get this feeling. Like she's calling out to me...

Felis: <Who?>

Mezzo: ☣♪☼•é.

-Felis stops and stares at Mezzo-

Mezzo: Sorry, you weren't out of your ball when we met her. But you remember ☣♪☼•é, right, Sunny? She was so lovely...

Sunny: <Piano, I'm getting worried about you.>

Freya: <Where did this... noise you made come from?>

Mezzo: I saw her in my dreams last night, and that's what she said her name was.

-Mezzo sighs dreamily-

Mezzo: She's so beautiful.

Sunny: <This isn't normal...>

Mezzo: What do you mean?

Sunny: <What happened to the love between you and Ever? Between you and your family? Now all you talk about is this thing you saw one time.>

Mezzo: Oh... those don't matter anymore. Nothing matters except for ☣♪☼•é.

Sunny: <I think it's poisoned your mind somehow.>

-Mezzo rolls her eyes at Sunny-

Mezzo: Really? I thought you of all peoplemons would understand. You know all about being in love, right? How all you can think is that you want to be in her embrace again... to hear those soft tones she makes... and to be with her forever and ever...

Sunny: <Listen to yourself! This isn't love, it's obsession! It's brainwashing you!>

-Mezzo pauses as she spots a pale shape drifting in the moonlight ahead-

Sunny: <Oh no...>

-Forte, Jane, and Pianis stand at the gate-

-a pair of Jolteon are crouched nearby-

Pianis: Okay, first one to do a full circle around the lake then make it back here is the winner. You guys got it?

Electro: <Yep!>

-Jane's Jolteon nods-

Pianis: On your mark...

-Electro lowers herself to the ground-

Pianis: Get set...

-Jane's Jolteon's hair begins to stand on end-

Pianis: Go!

-the two rocket off, Jane's Jolteon launching forward with a lightning bolt-

-Rose goes wide-eyed at the thing in front of her. She's about to issue a move command to Nora, but just ends up silent.-

Nora: <...Okay, I get that you're aiming for "spooky" creepiness, but honestly that costume just brings a totally different variety of creepy to mind. It's weird. You're weird.>

-She starts sparking up, readying for an attack whenever the time comes-

???: Ahhh, Jaide, it's been so long! I'd try to catch up, but, you know, this thing is trying to kill you.

-In her prehipheral vision Rose will notice the apparation of a lean, handsome man with blonde hair and mismatched red and blue eyes... that looks like he's been stitched back together after being ripped limb from limb-

Protip, it absorbs the first attack it takes harmlessly! Pretty nifty, huh?

Megamart Back Room

-Rose stares agape at the apparition in the room.-

Rose: I, uh...

-Beat-

Rose: I have no clue who you are. Thanks for the trial advice, though!

Nora: <Hey, I'm waiting here, any day now!>

Rose: Er, right, uh... Nuzzle it!

Nora: <Finally!>

-Nora scampers up and tackles the Totem Mimikyu with the side of her face, cheeks sparking.-

-Sunny leaps in front of Mezzo and growls at the Nihilego-

Sunny: <You stay away!>

Nihilego: é☣•±☣

-the Nihilego fires a ray of light at Sunny; it directly impacts him, but he stays standing-

Sunny: <I won't let you—>

-Sunny is then picked up and thrown out of the way by Mezzo-

Sunny: <Wait, no!>

Mezzo: Ignore him. Just let me come back to you...

Sunny: <Stop! Don't go near it!>

-Mezzo ignores Sunny's warning and runs toward the Nihilego-

-Freya, on the other hand, hops off Mezzo's back-

Nihilego: ■≥■■☣√

Mezzo: I know... I missed you so much too.

-she hugs it, and it responds by wrapping its tentacles around her-

Mezzo: Stay with me.

Nihilego: ♀☣♦☼☣

Mezzo: Please. I love you.

-Sunny turns toward Felis-

Sunny: <Hey! Why aren't you trying to help her?>

Felis: <She seems fine to me, runt. A little misguided, maybe, but I don't really care.>

Sunny: <But that thing's going to eat her! We have to stop it!>

Felis: <She doesn't look like she's being eaten.>

-Mezzo closes her eyes, being held in the Nihilego's tentacles as it wraps around her-

Felis: <I don't get what's going on, but you're crossing a line here, runt. I don't care what you think is better for her. She's the one with the authority here, you understand?>

Sunny: <You can't just say that! Look at her!>

Felis: <She's not dead, and that's good enough for me.>

Freya: <I have to say, I'm siding with the black one here.>

Felis: <Okay, you know what? Get lost. Go back to the whiny kid or something.>

-the two Jolteon run through the park, Jane's taking a slight lead-

Pianis: Looks like they're pretty close.

Jane: Heh, I bet you thought this would be easy. My Jolteon, he's faster than lightning.

Forte: Don't give up, Electro!

Electro: <Don't worry. There's no way I'll— Oof!>

-Electro trips over a tree branch in her path; Forte winces-

-but rather than flopping on the ground, she curls up and rolls like a ball, then gets right back on her feet-

Forte: Yeah! Just like Sonic!

Pianis: Okay, that was unexpected.

Megamart Back Room

-Indeed, the Nuzzle bounces off the Mimikyu harmlessly as it hisses and lets loose a Shadow Claw-

-It then cringes, however, from the ensuing paralysis-

Ghost!Odin: Oh, I know. I heard about your little amesia problem. But, hey, it's my day off!

-Nora rolls back a bit to lob a Thunderous Orb(TM) at the now-paralyzed Mimikyu-

-Annoyed while clutching what appears to be a Psychinium-Z-

Darn it, where is Mezzo, after that guy in the trenchcoat showed up she disappeared on us, and then we had to go battle that distraction when we took the wrong turn.

-In the same area appears to be an unconscious larger than normal Metagross embedded into the canyon wall next to a Z-Crystal pedestal-

Muddy: <She might be even more under that Nihilego's thrall than she already is...>

Tyto: -Is currently fussing with his feathers-

-Sunny runs past, then stops as he notices Tagg-

-Freya is clinging to his back-

Sunny: <Help! Piano's in trouble!>

-despite her speedy recovery, Electro is still trailing a little bit behind the other Jolteon-

Pianis: Looks like they just reached the halfway point.

Forte: C'mon...

Haina Desert

-Someone is facedown in the sand, looking more scruffy than usual. A windswept Espurr is idly poking him.-

-He's not having a good day.-

-To Sunny-

...Let me guess, Mezzo's finally met up with a glass jellyfish?

Tyto: -Still preening- <This sand keeps on getting everywhere!>

Helios: -Blowing the sand off said scruffy person with some wingbeats- <Tagg, I found Vierr!>

Sunny: <She found a— Wait, how did you already know?>

Freya: <That is more or less correct. We think it's trying to eat her.>

-Vierr mutters something that can't be interpreted as any sort of coherent language through the ground as Helios blows sand off of him. However, it's accompanied by him semi-triumphantly holding up a Psychium Z for about two seconds before his arm flops back down.-

Khoshekh: <He got the thing!>

-To Sunny-

It was kinda my best guess considering what was going on and how Mezzo's been muttering about that thing the past couple days.

-To Freya-

It's unlikely that the Nihilego will eat her, all reports state that Nihilego enthrall as a self-preservation tactic, but it's still important that we free her from its clutches, or else things will get seriously freaky as Mezzo's mind breaks down from prolonged neurotoxin exposure.

-Pulling out the odd Poké Ball-

Luckily, if/when that happens I have one of these.

Helios: -To Khoshekh- <Did he just take a nap after beating the Totem Metagross?>

Sunny: <Are you going to catch it? You sure that's a good idea?>

Freya: <How will you free her?>

Forte: Hey! Electro!

Electro: <Kinda busy right now!>

Forte: Try using Dig!

Pianis: Wait, she knows that?

Electro: <Oh, good idea!>

-Electro burrows underground, then tunnels her way to under Jane's Jolteon, before bursting from the ground, sending him flying back-

Jane's Jolteon: <Ow!>

-she does a midair flip, then lands on all feet-

Electro: <Eat my dust!>

-she dashes ahead, now with a considerable lead-

Jane: Ooh, that's a clever trick.

Poni Island, underwater

-Ever, Amanita, and Brie are sitting on Box's back, descending down into the water-

Ever: I can't believe we're literally searching for pirate treasure.

Brie: Really? It seems kind of in keeping with our usual lives.

Ever: I know, I just hate that that's true...

-they keep descending-

Ever: Wait, so, our ancestors were women, right?

Amanita: These ones, yeah.

Ever: Cis?

Amanita: Far as I know. Why?

Ever: I mean, if they went down there and were never heard from again, wouldn't that imply that they had kids, waited for them to be born, and then abandoned the family to go be pirates?

Brie: ...That's kind of sad.

-there's a pause-

Amanita: I mean, your ancestors did. Mine was kidnapped.

Ever: That makes it even weirder, really.

-they continue descending-

Spinagon: <Hey, Dewpider.>

Estoc: <Yes?>

Spinagon: <You hunt by dragging fish into your bubble, right?>

Estoc: <Yeah?>

Spinagon: <But Wishiwashi can breathe air.>

Calamity: <Hey, Box, you have a bug on you.>

Khoshekh: <Oh, no, we didn't beat it. He passed out, and Elysia just grabbed the thing while the other thing wasn't looking.>

Vierr: -three mumbled syllables, followed by lifting his head and sputtering because he made the bad decision of trying to speak with his mouth buried in sand-

-To Sunny and Freya-

We can't just let it run around and enthrall someone else if we just beat it up since we lack a method of creating Ultra Wormholes, and Mezzo will continue searching for it anyway regardless, so it's probably better if it stays where I can keep an eye on it. The difficulty will really depend on whether or not it'll try ensnaring her other mons as well, though the reports have stated that Nihilego are plenty strong in a fight by themselves.

Helios: -Tries getting the sand out of Vierr's mouth by gathering it with Psychic-

Freya: <That doesn't sound good.>

Sunny: <She'll be okay, though, right? Once we get her away from that monster?>

Jane: Well, if attacking your opponent is fair play... Jolteon! Show her your last resort!

Jane's Jolteon: <Oooh, yes!>

-Jane's Jolteon focuses a moment, then Electro suddenly finds herself hit with a barrage of stars from all sides-

Electro: <Ow! Hey! What?>

-it stops and disorients her for a few moments, allowing the other Jolteon to run past-

Jane's Jolteon: <See ya!>

Electro: <Oh no you don't!> -jumps forward-

Haina Desert

Vierr: Ptheh. Thanks.

-He forces himself up, and pockets the Z-Crystal-

Vierr: Sand sucks. Anyway what's this about a glass jellyfish?

 Haina Desert 

-To Sunny-

As long as we get her free quickly enough, there shouldn't be too many complications.

Helios: -Gives a truncated version of the Ultra Beast briefing to Vierr-

-before Pianis can finish, Electro pounces on Forte, knocking them to the ground-

Forte: Ow!

Electro: <I win!>

-Jane's Jolteon jumps on Forte one second later-

Jane's Jolteon: <Aww, you got me. Still, that was the most fun I've had in ages.>

Jane: Well, I'd say you've proved your worth as an Eevee trainer all right. Well done.

-Forte pushes the Jolteon off themself and gets back up-

Forte: Oww... yeah, thanks.

-Jane hands Forte a yellow crystal-

Jane: Here. You can keep this. I doubt I'll have much use for it anymore.

Forte: Really?

Jane: Life is fleeting, like a spark of lighting from the sky. And my spark has almost burned out... but yours is still glowing. Hold on to that, young lady.

Forte: Uh... I'm not really a "lady". I'm kinda not sure about the whole gender thing.

Jane: Oh, my mistake. Hold on to that spark of life, young trainer, and let it shine forth.
