Sophacles: Huh? Why?
Molayne: I've heard that there is a group of trial goers challenging trials in a short span of time. I wanted to make sure we don't overtax our electrical grid again.
-The intercom Buzzes.-
Hokulani Observatory Employee: Trial Captain, is Mr. Molayne with you?
Sopacles: Yeah, Big Mo is with me.
Hokulani Observatory Employee: Good. Well we appear to have a older trial goer, but it seems he thought Mr. Molayne was still the Trial Captain here.
Molayne: -slightly bemused- What's his name?
Hokulani Observatory Employee: Ummmm... Renard Clavis. He apparently already has an Electrium Z and wants to take the trial to obtain the Steelium Z.
Molayne: Clavis? Hold on a second. Please ask him to wait in the reception area. If this is who I think it is there are some extenuating circumstances.
Hokulani Observatory Employee: Yes, sir.
-The intercom buzzes off as Sophacles turns to Molayne.-
Sophacles: What was that all about Big Mo?
-Molayne is digging through some old records from when he was still Trial Captain. Before pulling out a particularly old document.-
Molayne: ... Well. He's 20 years late...
Sophacles: Huh?
Molayne: Oh. Sorry, Soffy. That man out there was supposed to do the Ula'ula trials 20 years ago. I can't remember all the details, but I remember it because it was such a special case.
Sophacles: Why?
Molayne: Well his grandmother is Alolan, and his grandmother and his father both did the island challenge. I think his father is a fairly important member of the Clavis Conglomerate... Anyways, his father arranged for this guy to do the Ula'ula trials while they were visiting Alola 20 years ago, but all I remember is that he didn't go through with it due outstanding medical reasons.
Sophacles: But, I'm the Trial Captain now. Why not just let me handle it?
Molayne: Because he's challenging the trial based on the old rules. When the island challenge was just a right of passage, rather than league qualification challenge. This is really only a problem for us, since the I was the only trial captain to change in the interim.
Sophacles: So... Umm... What does that mean?
Molayne: It means that I'll probably have to come out of retirement this once... Oh I hope my Totem Pokemon is still up for a challenger...

-Molayne and Sophacles enter the reception area where Ren and Co. are waiting.-Molayne: Welcome to Hokulani Observatory, Renard. I'm Molayne, and this is the current Trial Captain, Sophacles.
Sophacles: Umm... Hello.
Ren: -stand respectfully towards the two- Yes. Hello to you both. I'm assuming from the way the receptionist spoke things have changed since my challenge was issued.
Molayne: Quite a bit. The island challenge is now Alola's "gym challenge", but since you technically started your trial 20 years ago...
Ren: -sighs- Things got complicated.
Sophacles: I'll say. Big Mo, I'll go get set up for anyone who comes for a Island Challenge.
Molayne: Right. See you later then, Soffy.
-Ren watches the young Trial Captain leave before turning back to Molayne.-
Ren: So what happens now?
Molayne: Normally, If anyone wants a Steelium Z nowadays, they'd have to beat me or get lucky and find one, since we are sill looking for a podium site for them... But due to the extremely unique circumstances here, you have to clear my trial instead of Sopacles'. And considering your level of skill and experience - and the fact that my trial hasn't been run in years - I need to ask you to wait while I make arrangements for your trial and safety.
Ren: -with a look of concern- Safety?
Molayne: Well normally only two or three supervisors are needed to ensure a challenger's safety - even when Team Skull were running around. But recent events have made it so security has to be a fair bit higher to ensure the safety of a trial's participants.
Ren: So do I need to come back tomorrow, or do need to wait here until you're ready?
Molayne: The latter. I'll come and get you and explain the trial once we are ready to begin.
