Between Route 7 and Route 8:

I down in the grass at the vulcan's slopes.I'm not really sure what to do next, and part of me (well, most of me) would also like to just stay there and enjoy the day for a while.
Skotos walks around, in the grass, disguised as a Rattata. Or, actually, the weird kind of Rattata that lives here. The pokemon here are weird. Not only Rattata, but apparently Meowth and Grimer as well. Still, they look great. I wonder if there are any other new versions. Like an Alolan Zoroark.

Skotos: <These moustaches are weird. They don't really act like moustaches, but they aren't feelers either. How do they work?>

They've been practicing all day. Not to get it right, apparently the illusion automatically replicates what they've seen, but to study them. It is interesting that they can use it that way, it'd appear that the illusion replicates how the body would react even if they don't really know how it works, unlike what one'd think. That's something worth studying. Some other day.
I look at the last ball, the one I put Salamandra in. Unlike the others, I still haven't redecorated it, so it looks like any other net ball (I know, but I didn't have many options). The unique pokemon of the island are also fascinating. I miss Unova, but somehow I feel quite at home here, more than I ever did in the last few years. That's something, at least.
I stand up, and start walking. Skotos follows me, on all fours (I know that they are actualy on all fours even if they don't need to, it's just their style), without dropping the illusion. Maybe it's time to start actually do what I came here to do. I've gathered a bit around the trials, they appear to be based on specific types (and there isn't a Dark-type one, because of course there isn't one) and requires captains, although the specifics of their involvment are still unclear.
From what I've heard (and, actually, for an obvious reason) the Fyre-themed one should be around here. Let's see what we can find.

Filros: Yeah, I guessed I wouldn't have been the only one. I am more interested just to understand them and their purpose, at least for now. They are different from collecting badges, but it turns out that they are consistent with having a league, so I'm intrigued.

Yeah, me too, it's a uinque variation of purple ("uinque" meaning "what happens when you forget to check before posting".

Well, either they are not from here, or that answers my questions about Alolan Zoroark.
Do they have Alolan version of humans too, or is that an actual robot arm?

Underground Lab-Far Past

Lane:There!

-A screen opens up on the monitor, Tapia looks over Lane's shoulder-

-On it, King smashes the Demon crown to pieces-

-A siren blares-

-And with it, a text box opens-

Tapia:<That...can't be good...>

-Lane grits his teeth-

-As this program was loading in, he had been doing research. The facility as a whole was dedicated to this program and those tubes. The program would provide a base layer with the subjects own memories to build a sort of "brain" for this supposed "special" Porygon.-

-...As suspected. The previous subjects had not survived.-

Lane:D...Dammit…are we too late?

-He flicks to a new screen to find a dark room, containing a single staircase leading in, a single platform, and an ominous shape in the far end.-

-He could swear he saw it grinning.-

Between Route 7 and Route 8:

Skotos: *shifts into a Johto Rattata* <Well, it really depends on your definition, those technically aren't.>

I wave awkwardly, I'm once again the odd new one. It probably comes off as cold, I can't understand why. \\

Shaun: "Thanks, Kiawe. This'll be useful in the Grass trial."

-Jessica pokes her head out if Shaun's coat.-

Jessica: <Ooh, so it's my turn?>

Shaun: "Yep! Don't worry, we'll practice."

-To Kiawe and Kaisei-.

Shaun: "Well, we should head back down. If you need me, I'll most likely be at Royal Avenue for the next couple of days."

-True to his word, Shaun is currently here practicing Z-Moves outside of the Pokemon Center.-

"Dang that sure is totally poggers my good bitch"

Tabitha: <That name seems kind of passive aggressive.>

Azure: <Yeah.>

Daydre and her team are standing around her somewhat recently caught Grubbin.

Rowan: <Don't you only call people Friendo sarcastically?>

"But they're shaped like a friend.. What better name to express that with?"

Mr. Bitey: <I dunno about you guys but I think it sounds fine!>

Grubbin: Friendo: <...> -Doesn't make a sound, but looks pretty pleased-

"See? I think they like the name."

-Friendo nods.-

The rest of the team, sans Mr. Bitey, still look skeptical.

Tabitha: <If it gets you to the Grand Trial faster...>

"I'm working on it! We're done with Ilima's trial, at least.."

-Tabitha raises an eyebrow, but says nothing.-

Okay, so it took me forever to get this going at all, let alone in a way that felt satisfying... Hopefully it's worth it~ Also thanks to Sky for letting me kidnap his characters for this long and write for Ignia

-After a climb that seemed to last forever, Tori and King finally exit the spiral stone staircase and find themselves in a large room made of stone, but unlike the lower floors of the tower there were no windows or openings to let light in, making it hard to see anything in the gloom. Except for the red and yellow buneary lying at the far side of the room-

Tori: "Is this the place...? Then where's... Iggy!"

-Tori rushes toward the mon-

"Maria": "Not so fast!"

-Suddenly 'Maria' materializes and holds up the small buneary and points a gnarled staff to her neck-

"Stay back if you value this one's life!"

-Tori skids to a halt and puts an arm out to block King, who also stops but growls at the sight of the witch-

Tori: "What do you want Maria?"

Maria : "You, to stand down. I'm not going to let you destroy the core and sink this island."

-Tori looks confused for a moment, before noticing the massive carnivine head of the core, now a lifeless grey color, apparently dead or inactive lurking in the shadows behind 'Maria' and her hostage-

Tori: -headshakes- "I never wanted to destroy the core, I only fought it out of self defence. I just want Ignia turned back to normal so we can go home!"

Maria: -grins mischievously- "Is that so? Well... you've done me a great service by removing that oafish doctor, even if you did destroy the crown in the process..."

???: "What's this I hear...?"

-A cruel distorted chuckle echoes around the chamber while everyone looks around for the source of the voice as a cloud of red and static-y particles rise up through the floor behind Maria,-

-Maria drops Ignia and turns quickly raising her staff in a defensive pose-

Maria: "You!? Theres no way you could have survived!"

???Doctor?: "My, my, you sound surprised to hear from me... You weren't planning anything rebellious in my absence, where you?"

Maria: "Begone, demon!"

-Ignea stirs, and after the briefest glance around runs and hides behind Tori's legs as Maria raises her staff and sends a trio of dark orbs at the glitchy particles, only for them to pass harmlessly through-

Doctor?: "Ha, ha ha... You should know this already... Servants who rebel have no need of free will!"

-The cloud of red and glitchy particle pounces on Maria, her startled cry turning into a muffled grunt as the phase into her-

Ignia: <M-Mama... What-?>

Tori: "King, get Ignia out of here. Now"

King: <Right>

Ignia: <Mama!>

-King grabs Ignia's paw and runs, nearly dragging her toward the staircase before a large red crystal phases through the floor, there is a bright flash just as the pair are about to run into it-

-The doctor's disembodied voice chuckles darkly again as the light fades, leaving only Tori standing-

Tori: "What the hell did you do?!"

Doctor?: "I told you before... I'm invincible now. And with this power my mind has never been so clear... I should thank you"

-The core's head on the wall in the back starts to stir-

"True, my physical body is gone, and I was quite looking forward to enjoying it too... But I can find ways around that~"

-Tori becomes uncomfortably aware that the reason the room is darkened isn't a lack of windows, but due to a literal wall of grey formerly grassy tendrils of varying sizes attached to the core covering the interior of the room-

"Yes... I think I'll enjoy breaking you this way too"

-The carnivine head lowers itself to the floor and creeps closer to the girl, a red mass of red and glitchy material making the mouth look more like a massive fanged eye before a flash of static reforms it to look more like the skeletal visage of what used to be a human wearing the primary carnivine head of the core like some sort of mask-

"You'll learn to call me master soon enough!"
