Soujin: "Uh, hey, I think I'm ready for the Grand Trial now."

-Teacher spots the Grubbin-

Teacher: <Good evening. Would you perhaps be looking to add fulfillment to your dull, dull life?>

Tapu Lele is flanked on each side by a pair of... disturbing Gardevoir. They do not break eye contact with Lunala while she is in the room.

Tapu Lele bows. <Milady.>

Ruins of Life

(Lunala gives the Gardevoir a quick, uncomfortable glance.)

Lunala: <Yeesh...>

(She returns to her usual perky self when she looks at Tapu Lele, however.)

Lunala: <Aww, no need to be so formal, Lele! We're both gods here, after all~>

Iki Town, an ambiguous time

Hala: Now, I'm sure Ilima will already have told you this, but I can't recall a Trial challenge like yours being requested before.

(Belinda nods energetically, Simon curtly.)

Hala: I'm an old man set in his ways, so believe me, it was hard having to think up a variation on the model that's served me faithfully for years - but I managed! Allow me to explain...

(The Kahuna makes his way up the steps to the wooden podium in the centre of town, the twins trailing him.)

Hala: As I'm sure you know, usually the Grand Trial is a simple battle with the Kahuna - no fancy obstacle courses like you get in Verdant Cavern and such. A perfectly sensible system when there's only one challenger, but two working against each other... not so much.

(The twins still just nod, not having anything in particular to say.)

Hala: But then I realised - there is a way of sorting out this conundrum while keeping matters simple... I would just need a little help!

Ilima: And I was more than happy to provide~

(Simon jumps out of his skin, having not noticed the Trial Captain slinking up beside him.)

Ilima: The Kahuna's answer, in case my presence didn't tip you off? Tag Battles. One of you sides with me, the other with Hala, and we fight alongside each other. Whichever side wins, they get the Fightingium-Z - just one of you two, though. It's not like Hala and I have any use for it, we completed our Island Challenges long ago.

Hala: Ah, yes, I remember being a youngster doing my Challenge like it was yesterday! But that reminds me, you will both get your Stamps no matter who wins or loses. You need those to keep your Challenge going, after all!

(Simon and Belinda glance at each other. Compared to the madness of Verdant Cavern, there was no obvious way such a simple task could go wrong...)

Simon: ...you have a deal.

Belinda: Agreed! I can't wait! :3

Hala: Well really? Let's have at it!

-Sends out a Mankey-

-The Grubbin leers at Teacher-

Grubbin: <Who do you think I am? You just want to eat me or something.>

Soujin: "Okay..."

"Beat, let's go!"

-He sends out the Torracat-

Beat: <Been a while, Hala. Look who's gonna beat you now!>

-She rushes at the Mankey with a Fire Fang-

Teacher: <What? Of course not! I merely want to offer you an invitation to join the greatest sensation to have ever been presented to your life.>

-Angelica suddenly pops out of a bush-

Angelica: <And be slightly appreciated by someone whose level you can never reach!>

Iki Town

-The Mankey flails and hits Beat with a Power Up Punch-

Route 4

-The Grubbin gives a metaphorical eyebrow raise-

Grubbin: <Go on?>

Tapu Lele shrugs. <The Court of Life knows to bow to the night, for it is prudent to do so.>

She grins. <Oh, but how rude of me, have you met Infinity and Distortion? Big fans of yours, of course.>

Infinity: <the swirling maw of fate will consume you just as it has consumed the gods of old entropy will grind all to a screeching halt->

Distortion: <as the whispers from beyond the beyond continue to deceive so too will all of your words be treated as nothing more than meaningless distractions from the truth as is written as it will be>

-Beat is knocked back by the Punch, taking a bit of damage-

Soujin: "Stay wary, the Mankey'll be stronger now."

Beat: <Yeah, yeah. I'll be fine!>

-She goes in for another Fire Fang-

Teacher: <That would be the opportunity to serve me! Beginning immediately!>

Angelica: <We get refreshments too!>

<Sometimes.>

<Usually he gets them.>

Grubbin: <...Yeeeah no.>

(Lunala looks more than a little uncomfortable.)

Lunala: <Right, uh. Yeah. Fans. Nice to meet you, fans. Yep.>

(A shake of the head to clear her mind.)

Lunala: <Not important, though! I'm here because I have an urgent message!>

-Beat is Swept Low by the move, knocked to low health as well-

Beat: <Yeah, yeah, you warned me...>

<Still going to take you down, though!>

-She spits an Ember at the Mankey-

Teacher: <Hmph, why not? Do I need one of those 'cause' things to entice you?>

Angelica: <Eh, fair. What'd you think we were offering, anyway?>

Heahea City

-Ever has been moved here, but has remained in exactly the same pose-

Estoc: <Is he usually like this?>

Narrow: <He's been weirder since meeting that Lady.>

-Estoc stops dead-

Estoc: <...Did you say Lady?>

Narrow: <Unfortunately, yes. You've fallen in with a strange crowd.>

Muninn: <I hope you're remembering to include yourself.>

Tapu Lele folds her hands in her lap. <Do tell, milady.>

Lunala: <Okay, so I dunno if Koko told you 'cuz he was there but apparently there were nasties in grey suits in Melemele Meadow? Like, I know there were already Skull and Aether, but these were different! We've got a third group of troublemakers on the loose in Alola!>

Tapu Lele grimaces. <How bothersome.>

Infinity: <a minor issue in the grand scheme of the universe->

Distortion: <they will soon be forgotten much as well all shall>

Tapu Lele: <Oh, hush you two, grown ups are talking.>

Lunala: <...how do you put up with those two?>

Tapu Lele giggles. <They keep people out of my cave~>

(Lunala now looks like she would rather be anywhere else.)

Lunala: <So, uh, yeah... just wanted to say, watch out for weird grey-suited humans...>

Tapu Lele grins. <My dear lady, don't you know by now, they should watch out for me~? I would be all too happy to curse them if they enter my domain... but maybe I'd prefer to work a blessing on them instead~>

Lunala: <Well, uh, good to know you've got it covered?> ^_^;

(She starts to drift towards the exit.)

Tapu Lele: <You just leave them to me, milady~ They'll wish Yveltal had got their hands on them personally when I'm done. o3o>

Lunala: <Uh yeah I'm sure they will bye!>

(Whoosh! Lunala is very quickly gone.)

-The Mankey goes down-

Hala: Good one!

-sends out a Makuhita, which snickers and Earthquakes-

Grubbin: <I'll be off now.>

-he starts scuttling away-
