Mezzo: Oh, come on! I can be useful!

Nanu: You haven't even done the island challenge yet, have you?

Forte: That's pretty cute. Is it like a Pikachu?

Shadow: <Personally, I think it's unnerving.>

Ever: No, that's just a disguise. Look.

-he takes off the-

-Whoops, right-

Ever: Oh, right, that causes internal bleeding... I probably shouldn't show you what he looks like. He's really cute though. He used to be that Latios that tried to kill me a couple times.

Scarlette: Er, right, be right there!

-She follows Hala out, as does Rose.

-Hala, a spare set of Pokeballs with him, goes to the main stage in the center of town.-

Hala: Here in Alola, we have our own set of starters.

-He throws out the first Pokeball, and a red cat with black stripes pops out. He leisurely licks his paw.-

Hala: This is Litten. They're our Fire-Type starter.

-He throws out the second, revealing a round ball with feet. Then it turns around revealing a beak, two big eyes, and a little leafy bow tie.-

Hala: Rowlet is our Grass-Type starter, though he's also a Flying-Type.

-He throws out the last, and a blue aquatic mammalian happily barks as it does a hand-stand.-

Hala: This is Popplio, our Water-Type.

-Hala puts his hands on his hips.-

Hala: Each of them can be quite a handful if you don't respect each other! Choose wisely.

Iki Town

-Locke looks curiously between the three starters-

Nanu: Okay, you know what?

-Nanu tosses a black crystal at Mezzo-

Mezzo: -catches it- Huh?

Nanu: Figure out how to use that, and then maybe we can talk.

Mezzo: Wait, really?

Nanu: I'm not making any promises, though.

Forte: Uh... that's creepy. But cool, sort of?

-Shadow, meanwhile, is staring at a particular plushie on the shelf-

Shadow Plushie: ...things are still unchanged...

Shadow: <You...>

Thrifty Megamart, do not lose hope! Stay DETERMINED!

Ever: He's terrible. I love him.

-Muninn blinks-

Muninn: <Is that another Mimikyu?>

Ever: I think it's just haunted...

Iki Town

-Scarlette looks at the three Pokemon.-

-The Popplio looks back.-

-Scarlette's gaze gets more intense.-

-As does the Popplio's.-

-There is a burning fire within the Water Pokemon's stare.-

Scarlette: ...It was meant to be.

-The Popplio cheers. If he had proper hands, he'd probably fistpump in triumph.-

Popplio: <WHOOOOO! FIRST PICK!>

-The Popplio bounds toward Scarlette, and nudges her with his nose (earning a distinct honk sound).-

Popplio: <We're gonna make the most awesome team ever!>

Light: Well, in this region I should say. Like Hala said, they do stay away from polite company, such as this town.

-I follow everyone outside and see all the starters being shown. Heart gives me a glance from his spot on my shoulder. I tell him in whisper,-

Light: It's ok buddy. Your my starter for this region. Nothing can equal to you when it comes to starters.

-Heart flashes me a heart with his arms, happy from hearing that. Continuing my whispering, I add on,-

Light: Though I still have to talk about Hala about something. About something I have missed. I have gone through trials to gain you and the others. A Pokemon team that I feel proud about and that I can tell will help me "evolve" and that I can help "evolve" too....but now it's time to go through a different trial. Well, a set of trials. I missed these trials because of what went down between age 11 and 18. You remember the event's right?

-Heart nods his costume head.-

Light: Good. I just hope that none of the other Trainer's here or the rest of my team learn about it. It's not a proud point of my life and I'm ashamed that I spent any of my time.......with that vile group. Now, we are dedicated to the Vow.

Iki Town

-The Rowlet shuffles-

-Though clearly well kept, her feathers looks slightly less green than normal green!-

-Beat-

-Jason staaaaares-

Jason:Well...

-He reaches out a hand and pets the Rowlet-

Looks like you're stuck with lil ol' me, eh?

-He smirks and cocks his head-

If you'll have me?

-Beat-

-The borb mimicks the headtilt-

Rowlet:-happy borb noises-

-Huggles a borb!-

-Hala gives a hearty laugh.-

Hala: Luckily, I figured I'd keep some spares around.

-He tosses out one of each again.-

-Ludmilla watches from a distance, only tangentially interested in the barking of the Popplio but otherwise just kinda kicking her legs.-

Ludmilla: I wonder if there are any puppies around here...

-Cun hears Ludmilla's question and decides to start asking around.-

-Joseph doesn't need to think twice. He sees the Popplio, standing on his tail with a goofy smile, and immediately rushes forward to scoop him up-

Joseph: I like him!

-the Popplio giggles, repeatedly booping Joseph with his big red nose, that distinctive honk ringing out-

Joseph: Ooooh, you're a silly one, aren't you?~

-The Litten of this group casts her gaze at Soujin-

Litten: <You.>

-Soujin is a bit startled by the Litten focusing on him-

Soujin: "Uh?..."

-The Litten smirks-

Litten: <You look tough. Wanna be partners?>

Soujin: "Uh, sure, yeah."

-The Litten nods and walks to his side-

Mendel: -to Silent- Um... Professor... I'm not sure if you picked up on it... But that was Izanagi - Mr. Clavis' starter Pokesona - who apparently has gotten several times stronger somehow. Why would one of our allies need to "breadcrumb" us?

-Rather than ruminate on the fact that his first Partner is no quite a bit more powerful than Reynaert and that he promise to help him when Ren was in Mortal peril.-

Ren: -out loud, to no one in particular- He called Mikuratana "corrupted"...

Rose: So, looks like that's it here, right? Now we just need to do whatever we need to do to get ready for meeting Ilima?

Scarlette: Yeah. And, er, related to that, um...

Rose: Hm?

Scarlette: Would you, uh, be willing to battle me? As my first real battle, I mean.

Rose: Uh, sure.

-Scarlette smiles, then turns to Hala-

Scarlette: Erm... since we're right here, mind if we use the stage as a battlefield?

Ever: You've got to hit him twice, by the way. That costume may not look like much but it'll take pretty much any hit once.

Marmalade: <Good to know.>

-she leers at Muninn, who gulps-

Marmalade: <Wanna see how high I can hit you?>

Muninn: <Ever, didn't you say something about not making empty threats?>

Ever: Didn't sound empty to me.

Muninn: <...> -gulp-
