Okay, so, there's four of them, one for each type.
There's an iron locket turned orange with rust, heals whoever's wearing it as long as they've got Fighting Aura, also messes with their head and gives them a hell of a hero complex.
Then there's what most sources tend to call a pink diadem or tiara, although technically it was originally a headdress before the crest came off. That one dulls pain, and probably also has some sort of psychic enhancing power? Either way, it sorta gives the wearer a sort of unfeeling, detached state of mind.
Then there's a black chalice, made of tarnished silver, that surprisingly isn't usually described as a direct power enhancer — usually — but instead turns whoever holds it into a cocky bastard that people somehow find charismatic anyway. Kinda like a politician. Some stories do say something about making Dark Obscura stronger but it's not part of every account.
And finally there's a purple sword, the one that's stood the test of time far better than the other three. Gives the user power not unlike the Ghost Lord, but at the expense of an ego not unlike him either. Oddly, the guy never actually possessed it. Or let it possess him.
Now, keep in mind any of these could have inaccuracies or inconsistencies. Stories about real-but-mythlike things tend not to be exactly the same each time, oral tradition skews them a lot of the time. Any questions?

Okay, so, there's no way you're gonna convince him to just give it away. Side effect of the personality stuff, they get really protective of the artifacts. Best case is a sharp "no", worst case a number of other sharp things and lost head.
