ITT: We are all Pokémon Trainers

At two o'clock this afternoon in Snowpoint, Joseph and Munn were wrapping Christmas presents, taking care to hide the gifts for each other. Two mugs of hot cocoa sit on the table near them, steam lazily rising. Snow flakes down outside the window.

Inside a cafe, Mimmy sipped from a styrofoam cup, whipped cream frothing on her upper lip as she jotted down various notes in a spiral notebook. In careful handwriting, she wrote down various ideas and inspirations for future appeals.

At the same time as all this, a young woman exited Eterna Forest and entered the city. She wasn't particularly tall or short, nor was she particularly fat or thin. Inky black hair blew back in the wind, falling into a messy tangle onto her shoulders. She wore a thin coat, a pair of wire-rimmed glasses, and a deep frown. She was going to be quite busy in the coming days.

-Alys answers-

Alys: Yes?

NI HQ, past

-Beat-

-Beeeat-

Marianne:Hm. This isn't Wilhelm's voice. Who is this. Put him on.

Sunny: <Today is a special day, you know.>

Mezzo: <Wait, why's that?>

Sunny: <Because it's Piano's birthday!>

Felis: <And she's not here to celebrate. Great.>

Mezzo: <Relax, we've got a placeholder handy. All I have to do is say "happy birthday" and pig out on candy or something, right?>

Felis: <Uh, not exactly.>

Mezzo: -growls- <Rrr... this is worse than the time I was stuck in mindscape hell for my birthday.>

NI HQ

Alys: Wrong number? One moment.

-beep. She switches callers-

Alys: Wilhelm. Your aunt. Here.

-she switches them-

NI HQ

(Wilhelm initially starts, but quickly regains his composure.)

Wilhelm: Ah, Aunt Marianne! I presume you're calling to enquire about that little task you set us?

NI HQ, past

Marianne:You know me too well. I trust everything's been taken care of?

NI HQ

Wilhelm: Indeed it has. Now, onto the issue of payment...

Hearthome City, a Café [Present]

Phaz is sitting on a couch, drinking some Earl Grey from a red and green cup. Atop of his head is, instead of his favorite bonnet, he sports a Christmas one. At his left side Cynthia and Embry wears the same one, if not smaller for Embry. He is enjoying some Pokepuffs, while she is drinking some hot cocoa from a Delibird-patterned cup. Ashley and Volta discuss over them about what they should do for Christmas.

Ashley: <...But my points still stands. We should enjoy Christmas with Amelie in Sinnoh.>

Volta: <No, no, no! I'm pretty sure Cynthia would be able to send us to that region you came from, Hoenn. It would be great!>

Ashley: <Yeah, but we would be letting Amelie down. Come on, I'm pretty sure she would like to spend Christmas with her brother! Say something, Phaz!>

Phaz: -looking away, still drinking his tea.- .....

Volta: <See? He's not saying anything. That means he'll be with his family in the Hoenn land! Right?>

Phaz: -still not saying any word while drinking, he just relax more on the couch he's on.- .........

Cynthia: ~Could you two just cut it out? We're kinda tired hearing you talk about this...~

Phaz: Listen. I've thought about that, and we arranged everything. Just enjoy whatever you want while it's still the time, okay? Whoever we will spend Christmas with is a surprise. Oh and before you try, Volta...

he turns his phone off, protect the charging and the jack port with a rubber plug in his phone case, and tuck it in his pocket.

Phaz: No cheating for you.

Volta: with a straight face <Oh no. Rubber. My archnemesis.>

Ashley: <...Guess you are right. You certainly thought about everything. Well... Is it possible to have some cocoa here?>

Embry <Uhhh... Ashley?>

Ashley: <Yes Embry?>

Embry: <How can you drink?>

Ashley: <... Let's just say i can, okay?>

-Marianne tuts over the phone-

Always so impatient. I'll arrange payment to be transfered in...regular intervals. I only hope for your sake this ins't a swindle, Wilhelm.

NI, Alys' Office

-Alys drums her fingers on her desk, impatiently, as Kirsten complains to her-

Kirsten: It can't wait 'til Monday?

Alys: I'm afraid not. If we want to expand, we'll need to work every single day for it-especially if there's already competition. You'll be going to Johto on Sunday.

Kirsten: Come on, Alys, it's Christmas!

Alys: It is? Oh, excuse me...

-she reaches behind her to flick a light switch. The lights on a small Christmas tree on her desk begin to flash festively. Deadpan, she reaches into her desk and takes out a set of sleigh bells, and jingles them as she speaks-

Alys: You'll be going to Johto on Sunday.

-Kirsten growls-

Kirsten: Fine.

Alys: Would you have preferred I told you in a Christmas carol?

Mitch: Okay then, well I need to go get the beak-head forged, so you mind giving me your contact information?

Hearthome

Sholto: "Oh, right."

-He gives Mitch a phone number-

Mitch: -He in turn gives Sholto his contact information- Okay then, well I'll call you when the product is finished.

Vulcan: <See you guys later.>

-Ismo waves as the group leaves for the exit-

NI HQ, earlier

(Wilhelm glowers at the sudden hanging up.)

Wilhelm: Tch... kurwa...

(He gets to his feet and strides purposefully out to head for Alys's office.)

NI HQ, earlier

-Alys tilts her head at Wilhelm as he enters-

Alys: Well?

Alys's Office, earlier

(Wilhelm sighs.)

Wilhelm: She says she'll pay us in intervals. What intervals and how much at a time, I'm not sure, but I'm afraid this means we may well have to keep the prisoners detained far longer than I had anticipated.

Alys' Office

-Alys' nostrils flare-

Alys: Intervals? Why?

Alys's Office

(Wilhelm shrugs.)

Wilhelm: Search me. Perhaps she was savvy enough to assume we'd bluff and wants to make sure no news her children survived emerges?

Alys' Office

-Alys shakes her head-

Alys: We'll see. What's her number?

Alys's Office

(Wilhelm instantly rattles off Marianne's number from memory.)

Alys' Office

-Alys dials, waiting for Marianne to pick up-

-Click-

Marianne:Yes.

Alys' Office

Alys: Mrs. Heiden. I'm calling to issue my sincerest apologies. I should have arranged the details in advance.

-she gives a small smile-

Alys: If I had known that you needed time to get the money, I would have gladly agreed in advance to accept the money in intervals!
