In a secluded clearing amongst the trees lining the route, a black-clad superhero is locked in combat with a young man wearing a modified Neo-Galactic uniform. His stun baton crackles in the rain as he swings at his opponent, who keeps using Detect to dodge each attack a second before it hits.
Iapetus: No! No more defeats! This time, I will triumph!
He swings again, only for the Avenger to duck low and jab at his stomach with a Force Palm. He crumples to the ground, groaning.
Iapetus: Urgh...
The Avenger takes a moment to catch their breath, then extends a hand to the loser.
Avenger: Bad luck, Seth.
Their defeated opponent sighs, pulls his helmet off, and heaves himself to his feet.
Iapetus Seth: Luck had nothing to do with it. Once again, I find myself outclassed.
The Avenger suppresses a chuckle.
Avenger: You take this way too seriously. These are just sparring matches.
Seth: The fact remains that I was trained by Neo-Galactic to combat those on the Auric Spectrum. I should be able to hold my own against you, with or without an Aura Jammer. Yet between your skills and your apparent immunity to the Aura Jammer's effects, you best me clearly and consistently.
The Avenger glances down at their feet.
Avenger: I'm sure it's just a matter of time. After all, I... it's not like I'm an expert at any of this.
Seth: No need to be humble. I owe you a great deal.
He bows his head.
Seth: When I first came to you, I fully expected you to hand me back to the authorities. Instead you accepted me and gave me newfound purpose. Not since Neo-Galactic's collapse have I felt such a sense of belonging.
The Avenger tilts their head.
Avenger: ...You're not comparing me to Neo-Galactic, are you?
Seth: Not at all! I... I was foolish to believe their lies. I genuinely believed that Titan offered the only path to a world free of conflict and blinded myself to any contrary evidence. Thank you for your forgiveness, and for showing me a better way.
The Avenger rubs their arm bashfully.
Avenger: Well... way I see it, it's not about forgiveness. I don't get to make that decision. My job is to try and help people, whatever the circumstances. You came to me looking for help, so... that's what I offered.
There is a moment's silence.
Avenger: ...That made sense, right?
Seth: It did, yes.
Avenger: Phew. I was worried that I sounded kinda crazy. Erm, that is, crazier than usual for someone who uses supernatural powers to fight crime, because, uh... that's kinda crazy to begin with. Eheheh...
There is another awkward silence.
Avenger: ...So, same time tomorrow?
Seth: If you wish.
Avenger: Great! I'll, um... I'll leave now before I say any more weird stuff.
They abscond as quickly as possible, leaving a slightly bewildered Seth behind.

Dune: Oh, this is gonna be good.
-Fenrir stands, icy wind blowing across him, as he lets out an echoing howl.-

-Dune's jaw is slack. The door behind the group and the door ahead both are blocked by an icy barrier.-
-The bridge begins to shake.-

-The approach is uneventful, save for the occasional breeze. However, it is not a dragon that greets the group at the quadrant's center, but a massive oil lantern what, at first glance, appears to be a blazing star residing inside.-
Galvani: <... Positron. Neutron. What is this?>
Positron: [Oh, uh, I see you went to check anyway. That, um... That's-]
Neutron: [An experiment from the Forbidden Zone. It is one of the Titan Series, along with Girtablulu and Prometheus's Fire.]
-The light pulses gently.-

Sinnoh Underground
The Avenger is making their way through the gaping caverns of the Sinnoh Underground when they stop in front of an entirely innocuous rock wall. They kneel down and tap out a brief sequence against the rockface, whereupon part of it slides away to reveal the entrance to a Secret Base. They step through - though not without bashing their head against the top of the entrance.
Avenger: Owww! Every single time...
The base appears to be a superhero lair in the making, with a couple of costumes on display and a central computer in the middle of the chamber. Despite the rough-hewn walls and stray boulders scattered around, the furniture is both immaculate and organised to an almost obsessive degree. The Avenger slumps into their deskchair and pulls off their mask, allowing a veritable bush of unkempt brown hair to break free. A Tranquill flies down from a nearby stalagmite and nests in it.
Samus: <Chirp~>
Zoe wearily reaches up to pet the birdmon.
Zoe: Hey, Sam.
As she does, something taps her on the shoulder from behind.
???: ~Boo.~
Zoe: AAH!
She jumps out of her chair as a Dusknoir emerges from the wall behind her.
??? Revan: ~Huh, you seem tense. Tenser than usual, I mean. Usually it takes a screamer to startle you like that.~
Zoe sighs and settles back into her chair, the Tranquill in her hair still comfortably nesting.
Zoe: Sorry. I'm, er... kinda on edge at the moment. I'm really worried about this thing with Seth, to the point where I'm worried that I'm not worrying enough about all the other things I have to worry about. And that's, um... worrying.
Revan: ~What's there to worry about? Seems to me like that guy was still in the abs queue when everyone else was getting brains.~
Zoe: For starters, how am I going to explain it to Lilli? "Don't be mad, but while you were away, the guy who you had to stop from killing Lucius kinda became my sidekick." I've probably already messed things up enough even before that, but I don't know because I can't talk to her, and I have no idea where she is or if she's even okay and this is a completely unrelated issue but I'm still freaking out because what if something terrible's happened to her whilst I was just goofing around here and dear Arceus I have no idea what I'm doing
She grips her head in her hands, takes several deep breaths, then stands up and turns to face Revan again.
Zoe: That's the other thing. What if Seth finds out I'm just a big fraud? I don't have any powers. I can't even fight properly. That's Lilli's thing. All I have is this suit that I don't even understand because it comes from twenty years in the future and shouldn't be able to replicate Auric Spectrum abilities in the first place given how little energy it consumes and that's not even getting into its immunity to modern Aura Jammers and-
Revan: ~You're doing the technobabble thing again.~
Zoe: Oh, right. Uh, sorry. I forget you're from the past and all.
Revan: ~Hey, I can use technology well enough to find the smutfics on your PC.~
Zoe goes bright red.
Zoe: Wah! You r-read those?
Revan: ~Not much else to do down here. Also, Keith/Lance? You know you're trash, right?~
Zoe: They're such a g-great couple, though...
Revan: ~Please. Anyone with half a brain can tell that Lance is going to end up with Pidge.~
He folds his arms and looks down at Zoe.
Revan: ~Anyway, I'm going to take a wild guess and assume that shipping wars aren't your main concern at the moment.~
Zoe shuffles her feet, still blushing.
Zoe: W-well... no. See, there's this p-police detective...
Revan: ~Ah, so you have a crush.~
Zoe: I d-do not! I... I think he's kinda cute, t-that's all. Thing is, I dunno what's happened to him. I was gonna see if I could convince him to let the Avenger keep an eye on Seth rather than locking him up, but I can't find him anywhere.
Revan: ~You sure he's not just shut up in his room?~
Zoe: Erm...
Pastoria Pokemon Center - Two days ago
The Avenger climbs through the window of the room where Shun was staying.
Avenger: Detective Hontou. I have something to discuss with-
They are cut off by the room's occupant - a half-dressed woman - screaming at full volume.
Joan: Who the hell are you?!
Avenger: N-never mind! I'm g-going now!
They hastily scramble back out of the window, narrowly avoiding a thrown table lamp.
Zoe's Secret Base
Zoe: ...P-pretty sure, yeah.
She starts pacing nervously.
Zoe: Now Seth says the two girls who were in the hospital have gone missing too and I know they were supervillains and kidnapped Lucius and all that bad stuff but if people are just vanishing and the police can't do anything about it then that's the kind of thing the Avenger should be sorting out and Lilli would've found them all by now but I'm just sitting here panicking because I'm a useless superhero and I-
Revan: ~Hey. Now you're doing the self-depreciation thing. I can tell you from personal experience that hiding from your problems in a cave and feeling sorry for yourself for several centuries doesn't solve anything. If you want to stop feeling useless, then get out there and start looking for your crush. I once served a guy who gave up an entire kingdom for love.~
Zoe: Really?
Revan: ~Well, no. He gave up his kingdom because he committed terrible atrocities as part of his descent into self-destructive madness and had to flee because his former subjects would've lynched him otherwise. I tell the love story version because the truth's kind of a downer.~
Zoe frowns.
Zoe: ...Sure sounds like it.
She sighs.
Zoe: Still... I ought to be doing something. Maybe looking at some of Interpol's files might give me some hints about where to look next...
Revan: ~Are these files public?~
Zoe: Um... no. But I reckon I can get hold of them anyway, even if it is, erm... kind of illegal. Probably very illegal, actually.
Revan: ~Right, because all of your unsanctioned vigilante activities up until now have been entirely legal and above board.~
Zoe: That's, erm... that's a good point. And it's for a good cause, so... yeah. Time to put my leet hacking skills to the test!
Beat.
Zoe: ...I, uh... I said "leet" ironically. Just in case you, erm... you thought I might actually be-
Revan: ~Doesn't matter. I'm still judging you.~
