Daydre stares back.
"... I'm Daydre."
off the shitsLeague Lobby
Diogenes: A pleasure, Daydre. Do not mind Gunto. She is suspicious of strangers.
The Pawniard squints at Daydre.
<Dorf: And I go by the name of Dorf these days.>
Diogenes: An interesting name, friend Dorf.
<Dorf: Tell me, is it your custom to take others with you in seeking wisdom?>
Diogenes: When I first set out, no. But as of late...
He glances over at Gunto sitting on his shoulder.
Diogenes: It does seem I have begun to gather fellow-minded mons.
Ever Grande - Outskirts
Mondo stands there for a moment before Shinobi calls out <Hey, the rest of us are going back to the room. Don't stay out too late!>
Mondo: <Oh- uh. Right. We should get going>
-Beat-
<I meant to bed. Er, my bed, going now>

-He tries to abscond-

"...Yeah, fair enough."

"It's okay, you can't trust every stranger you meet, after all.."
Rowan, who had fallen asleep at some point during the conversation, sneezes.

<Dorf: I may wish to speak to you again on this later, friend Diogenes. For now, I will go watch the competition!>
He trots off to find a screen.
Diogenes: Indeed. However, the Theory of Narrative Causality states that once one joins in with heroes, one finds trustworthy people more often than not. And if I am not mistaken, that is Ren of the J-team you were so avidly watching.
Gunto lets out a tiny growl at Rowan which turns into a squeak at the end. She blushes, and hides her face in Diogenes' collar.

"Narrative Causality?"
Daydre headtilts.
"Also, I've met Ren before, so."
Rowan's ears twitch, and he opens his eyes.

Diogenes brightens, happy to share knowledge.
Diogenes: Indeed! Narrative Causality is a fascinating school of thought, that states that, for some people, life works along more the lines of a story than any sort of reality - heroes especially. And of course, in this day and age, the J-team is a massive sinkhole of narrative, being a rather large band of heroes. Indeed, analyzing the patterns of how the group moves through the world, it becomes apparent...
He continues to go on at length.
Gunto, meanwhile, rallies her courage to try another growl, but this one is all squeak.
X-Naut Fortress
-As soon as Maggie finishes speaking a certain young Polynesian woman suddenly pops out from under one of the floor panels-
Arika: Someone rang?
-looks around-
Ooh, you guys are on Chapter 7!
Nico: ARIKA HOW DID YOU DO THAT
Arika: ...Ammy taught me?
Nico: HOW DID YOU DO IT TO GET TO THE MOON?!
Arika: -thumbs to herself- Ahem. Lunar Pendant?
Kaguya: -blinks-
Arika: Anyway, what'd you guys need?
Near Tagg
Umbra:
-smiles-
Alright then. I might as well show you.
Shadedrake Island, a bit later
-Tagg and Umbra have arrived here, standing on the beach and gazing into the forest beyond-
-Umbra just stares silently for a while before speaking-
Umbra: ...Well. Here it is. Home.

-Banquo stares for a bit, but quickly dismisses it and starts reading again-
Maggie: "Um, well, besides me cursing the rules of comedic timing, we were talking about the Key Cards needed to get through here. Apparently one of them is with the quiz statue on the first sublevel."

"Story lines?... That is interesting, though it does raise some questions about choice and how much it matters... Would all our choices be predetermined, in that case?"
Rowan definitely notices Gunto this time, and stares at her.
<Are you trying to scare me?>
off the shitsLeague Lobby
Diogenes: Indeed, an astute observation! Within the Theory of Narrative Causality, there are whole separate sub-schools of thought on how it relates to free will. Some say that It means there is no free will, others say that choices, while free, will naturally align towards stories - others still treat it as if Narrative Causality is a force in and of itself, the presence of which subverts free will. It is all rather complicated, and beautiful!
Gunto finally gets out a full growl... but much of the affect is lost in how smol she is and how tiny it sounds. She blushes harder, but still persists.
Shadedrake Island
So this is Shadedrake Island, huh?
Feels like a lot of things died here a long time ago...

"That's got to be sad when you consider 'tragic heroes' though.. No matter what they did, it wouldn't matter in the end.."
<?>
<Was I correct?>
off the shitsLeague Lobby
Diogenes: Also a very fair point. The narrative, in whatever way you believe it exerts itself, is hardly a force concerned with morality... overall, at least. It does, however, seem to have a lean towards the just.
Gunto screws up her face, glaring threateningly, or at least trying to...
until she blushes again, nodding.

Arika: Oh, that puzzle... How far are you?
Shadedrake Island
Umbra: Yep. Used to be a nice little island community back in the day...

Maggie: "Pretty much just need that and the other two keys to face the boss of here, since we thankfully didn't have to find any elevator keys or do those walking tile puzzles."
"That and..."
-She whispers into Arika's ear-
"Something's going on with TEC. He seems to be on the X-Naut's side."
-TEC's voice comes through the loudspeaker-
TEC: I assure you my instruments are sensitive enough to pick up on whispering.
And I assure you, I have no reason to betray Sir Grodus.
While I may be able to impede you other than keeping certain doors locked, I assure you those doors will stay locked.
Maggie: "...Okay, yeah, some of the doors are locked too. The elevators and the doors we needed to get through seem to be fine, though, so... hopefully the Card Key doors are fine."
"...Granted, I'm guessing one of those doors does have our way of getting back, but we've got a Crystal Star to get before we worry about that."

Lyuri was sleeping and rolling around on bed a little before stopping... Then she heard an all familiar very loud noise right next to her ear and woke up immediately with a jump, she then looked and saw it was indeed Duke playing the very same prank on her
"... Goddamnit, Duke." Lyuri covered her face with her hands
Duke chuckled "You shouldn't be joking around if you can't take a joke yourself."
Ever Grande City, after Halloween
-Zeal has changed out of his costume, and Gui's mostly back to her normal disguise. The pink and green in her hair have switched locations. Zeal blinks.-
Zeal: Um...
Gui: What's up?
Zeal: Your hair. It's less green.
Gui: Oh, yeah! I thought I'd switch it up! Green is, like, your color, so I thought I'd make pink mine!
-She frowns.-
Um... do you not like it?
Zeal: Well, it's... it's less green.
Gui: Should I change it back?
Zeal: N-no, it's fine! Whatever you want, really!
Gui: ...Right, then.
Ever Grande City, earlier
-Zeal and the majority of his mons are sleeping. Gui is as far from everyone else as she can be, curling up into a ball.-
Gui: Still can't get that stupid feeling out of my head. Stupid Shadow Pokémon... Stupid Silvio... Why do you have such a big effect on me? I can't do anything when I'm like this...
-An apparition of Silvio crossed with a Scizor appears before her.-
Scizor!Silvio: He hates you, you know.
-Gui stares with a mix of rage and confusion.-
Scizor!Silvio: You can't tell?
-He grabs the sleeping Zeal with his claw and holds him up.-
He just can't wait to be rid of you. What has he accomplished since he's met you? Nothing at all. Because of you he's forced to ignore his responsibilities. Because of you he's being dragged further and further away from any chance of finding Fajro, or the person who killed Lanie. It's all because of you.
-He crushes Zeal's head, and everything vanishes into black aside from Gui and himself.-
Gui: That's not true! I've—
Scizor!Silvio: You've seen his thoughts? Do you really think that's enough? Look at you now, unable to use your telepathy because of a mere memory. You call yourself a Latias? You're pathetic. You can't possibly pretend you're able to catch everything he thinks. It's impossible for someone as useless as you.
-He splits into many, circling around Gui.-
You're nothing to him. You're just wasting all his time. You're taking everything that matters to him away for no reason other than your own enjoyment. And you're giving him nothing in return. You self-centered, immoral, manipulative bitch.
-All of the copies fade away.-
And I guarantee it, he's just counting down the days until he can get you out of his life forever.
-The darkness fades, and the room is back to normal as Gui wakes from the nightmare and sits up. Zeal is already awake. He waves.-
Zeal: Good morning!
Gui: M-morning...
-Zeal tilts his head.-
Zeal: Still tired?
Gui: N... no... Not that.
Zeal: Oh?
-He frowns.-
...Were you having trouble sleeping again? Are you all right?
-The voice echoes in Gui's head.-
Scizor!Silvio: Go ahead and ask him. You'll see.
Gui: Um... do you hate me?
-Zeal blinks.-
Zeal: Of course not. What's that about?
Scizor!Silvio: Do you really think that was sincere? You can't just look into his head to find out, can you? And it's not like you could trust his thoughts even if you could.
-Gui covers her ears and eyes.-
Gui: Shut up!
Zeal: Gui?
Gui: Just... go away! Don't bother me!
Zeal: Do you want me to—
-Gui looks Zeal in the eye.-
Gui: No, please! Just... just leave me alone. Okay?
-Zeal looks down.-
Zeal: ...Okay. I'm sorry...
-He leaves her alone in their room. She reverts to her Latias form and cries alone.-
Ever Grande City, now
-Zeal is wandering around, clearly lost in thought.-

Diogenes: My name is Diogenes. I am a mon of education, a seeker of knowledge and pursuer of truth.
The Pawniard continues to stare at Daydre.
<Dorf: Oh? A sage!>
Diogenes chuckles, a bit self deprecatingly.
Diogenes: I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a sage. Merely a travelling scholar.
