Well, Hook and Smee in Epic Mickey are based on older concepts of the final Hook and Smee. Notice Smee's got a red shirt instead of blue.

Demoted? Yay hey, no way! Hook is key to the program; he definitely hasn't been demoted.

It's just Disney milking the cash cow as always. Though I don't get why the protagonists would be generic 5-year-olds dressed as pirates. They really could have used the Lost Boys or something.

[up] I know, right? And that'd let them use Tink as a minor character now and then to reel in the little girl demographic.

As I mentioned earlier, they could have made John and Michael the protagonists. I don't understand why Disney uses them so little.

I don't know if I've ever seen the actual Peter Pan movie in whole as a kid, but as antagonists go, I preferred the Captain Hook from the non-Disney Peter Pan And The Pirates (though I'm not sure the same can be said of the protagonists).

Somehow I doubt continuity with the greater Peter Pan canon was really a consideration when they decided to set a show aimed at three year olds in Neverland. Nor should it have been.

Another new episode aired yesterday. I continue to watch this show, and I watch it almost entirely for Hook. What they do with his character on this show is highly entertaining. Jake and his friends are largely generic, but Hook, Smee and their singing friends add a lot of color to the show.

This show isn't actually that bad for something educational. I've noticed in later episodes that the Viewers Are Morons angle EdutainmentShows usually take is downplayed. The kids usually figure out stuff on their own and yet they still encourage the viewers to participate "helping" them with whatever task they need to do.

Izzy's cute, by the way.

I rather think Cubby's cute, in a "precious" sort of way.
