Back to religious representation in media, I don't mind at all if a film based on the Bible shows God as being powerful or capable of anything.

But what I really have trouble enjoying is when any religion is shown as the true one through proof or an undeniable miracle (even when the person doesn't believe in it), because it takes away the faith part of it and there's no questions remaining. It becomes just a plot device and something for the characters to use when they're in trouble.

Life is unfair...

Yeah that's interesting, I mean maybe that's why that sort of story is so hard.

Why was Satan trying to tempt Jesus into jumping off the Temple? How could anyone fall for that? And Jesus is too smart/wise to fall for a Deal with the Devil.

I remember that he was saying "Jump. If you're really the Son of God the angels will catch you." and Jesus went "Nope."

He is not a Daily Planet reporter and thus is not going to jump off a building to test that angels relly can Catch a Falling Star.

Must be why that youth that fell to his death diring Paul's sermon was raised from the dead instead of God sending an angel to catch him.

Hello all.

I don't remember when I last posted but I've had some growth since then and I figured out that I don't care if I am male or female, I want to live out my name which glorifies the Lord, I am going to stay Catholic, I just need more education on what it means to be so, and I am on the autism spectrum.

I hope everyone else is fortunate to figure themselves out.

Or if anyone's in school also, I hope it goes well!

I'll probably not dip back in here until December, I'm gonna be busy.

I've even gone to my church's Young Catholic Adult night for the first time, that was great!

O Lord, there are so many worthy causes in the world, I want to help them all, I would love to fission myself like bacteria and work in Your Name!

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary both be ever honored, blessed and adored!

[up][up]Welcome back. Glad you're making a return (it's a return, right?) to the Catholic Church. And I'm sure you're way more committed than I am (since I'm still trying to figure out whether to make a full return or to remain a lapsed Catholic). I hope things are going well in your community.smile[tup]

Hey, guys. I just got an update from my mom today that my dad lost his job. He works at a feed mill and was in a fairly high-up position, but there was a derailment last week and they decided to blame him, so he lost his job that he's worked at for my entire life (23 years as of around two weeks ago). He's got a few offers from family friends that were offering stuff for him if he ever needed a new job so we think it'll all turn out okay, but I'd still like some prayer from people and figured this was one of the best places.

[up] Will do.

You say I am loved, when I don’t feel a thing. You say I am strong, when I think I am weak. You say I am held, when I am falling short.

Can I take part in this discussion, if I don't identify as Christian myself, but am curious to hear people's opinions about a few books that take some terminology from Christianity, but the mentioning of which could risk some unintended crossness?

I think most of us welcome discussion, so I say go for it.

What are thoughts, opinions, views and analyses of you folks here on such books as Oahspe and Urantia?

I literally no nothing of any of the writings that aren't in the Bible, sorry xD The only one I even know remotely of is the Book of Enoch and even then I don't know anything about its contents.

Oahspe apparently had a small doomsday cult around it with a leader terrorizing members into submission, according to some Amazon -reviews left by a survivor from that cult. Wouldn't dismiss something like that.

Urantia's theology and cosmology is full of celestal bureaucracies ran by some alien-angel-hybrid-beings.
