Psha, extra goodies are for wimps. True warriors beat the game only using starting equipment and stats.

I wonder if they'll give the english users the ability to have weird hair colors (for some reasons it wasn't in the english version but it was in the Asian versions).

As one of the under-privileged people with an Xbox who didnt get Demon's Souls, I am really excited about this game.

[up][up]Actually it was. You have to go into details->hair colour. Then you should be able to adjust the colours through red green blue.

So, apparently you'll be able to get invaded by three people at the same time.

New to-do list in order of priority once I get the game:

1- Find Graverobber's ring.

2- Never EVER take it off.

3- Finish the game.

I've also managed to keep one guy running around Latria for around an hour trying to hunt me down. Invasions are funny.

Sadly, no indication of any plans for a PC release.

That may have to do with it being developed by From Software, which is a console-oriented company.

Yeah, well I likely will get a ps3 eventually, though the online will be pretty dead then.

Any reason given for why NB is the publisher and not Atlus again?

I think they just wanted to pick between one or the other. Atlus published the North American version of Demon's Souls, but Namco Bandai published the European version, if I remember right.

And I'm sure the online won't be dead, if Demon's Souls is any indication. That game is still going strong despite being released in 2009. The servers were only expected to be operational into the middle of 2010, and here we are now.

One thing I hope they include is the possibility of parries when a single weapon is held in two hands.

If you frequent Yack Fest, you're probably familiar with my nigh-constant bitching about the inaccuracy of swordsmanship in media. In the case of Dark Souls, I don't mind so much; the combat system of Demons Souls was fun, engaging and tense enough that bringing too much real swordsmanship into it would probably be detrimental to the gameplay. At the same time, though, this is the one concession to proper swordsmanship I'd like to see.

It'd also make two-handed use of a weapon less underpowered. Between strikes being somehow slower and more draining when done two-handed you're better off upgrading your strength to the extent of being able to use a larger weapon one-handed.

Actually? There's a couple more changes I'd like to see. Make two-handed use more viable by reducing the fatigue cost and increasing attack speed along with power. Perhaps even give such strikes smaller, more focused arcs. Along with parries, it'd make two-handed use of weapons legitimately more effective on the offense rather than a self-imposed challenge or once-in-a-blue-moon thing.

After all, single-handed use gets the advantage of a shield or off hand weapon. Not to mention its economy with fatigue makes it a superior offensive choice as well, since upgraded weapons will benefit from more strikes rather than stronger strikes.
