Because Pokemon can die?

I don't like the Nuzlocke comic's "You can talk to your pokemon" route. So basically my guy and everyone else is fighting and killing Pokemon for sport.

Not exactly the basis for the kindest of characters.

I kind of like the talking to your Pokemon thing.

But yeah, if you don't take that route you're likely to come off as a Jerkass for trying to kill other Pokemon and risking your team's lives for nothing.

Well, maybe money.

I vaguely justified it as the 'mons in this region are a bit more fragile than the 'mons in other regions and that death is a possibility. For my team that is. Everyone else ends up relatively okay.

Its unfortunate that I suck at drawing I guess I could always use the screenshot narration method.

It's not that bad.

I'll just do the journal method.

I've got a semimotivation. In this playthrough, I've named the main character Zinc. He is sick of the big name trainers stealing all the glory.

So he mugged the first kid he saw with a cap and took his place. Somehow it worked.

Lol. I think I'll justify it as wanting to go out and have an adventure, but it's too dangerous not to take a team along. And I just get sucked into the whole Rocket/League thing.

This isn't my run, but NTom64 did a Nuzlocke of Black in video form.

I decided to make my character be forced into the Nuzlocke World even though she didn't want to. She eventually decides to make the best of it by the third strip though.

Your art's really good. I hope you don't get stopped too soon. Well, I don't want you to get stopped at all, but I hope you get what I mean.

I started my run!

Dropped my starter (chose Totodile, named him Sould Guide) off in Cherrygrove. My team now consists of three members:

• Diana the Pidgey (first catch, new starter. One move: Tackle)
• Eli the Caterpie (second catch, String Shot, Tackle)
• George the Geodude (third catch, Defense Curl, Tackle)

They're all Lvl 3. Gonna do some serious grinding before going anywhere.

I lost my starter.

R.I.P. Ol' Smokey. 5-16.

Incidental I found out delaying evolutions doesn't actually lead to over all better stats. So I sorta immediately evolved half my party and am kicking myself still for not learning this in time to save him.

On the other hand the team is building itself quite quickly, up from three [including Ol' Smokes] to five:

• Cityface The Pidgeotto. 22.
• Brunhild The Geodude[tte]. 21.
• Arthur The Nidorino [and Future Nidoking of all Briton]. 19.
• Drowzee the Corinthian. 17.
• Reynardine The Vulpix. 15.

Currently grinding to take on the Ghost Boss

This isn't Fire Emblem where waiting to evolve makes you stronger in the long run. Not evolving does lead to learning new moves earlier though.

I lost my second Touhou today. I will miss you Ming Liu the Meiling, even if our time together was short.

I know, I could grumble on about it [I didn't believe it until someone told me very recently] but I'd rather bury it along with old Smokes.

Going to Nuzlocke Black. As Pokemon Green is nowhere to be found.

If we didn't have to hide everything in my damn house, I would of started it already (Kelptomanic Sister).

Off to a pretty good start! Grinding before going anywhere, or even taking on Joey. Diana's up Lvl. 5, Eli's up to 6, and I'm getting George up now. He's 4 at the moment, will level up as soon as I kill this Rattata.

I'm considering delaying Eli's evolution until he learns Bug Bite. That means he stays as a Caterpie until Lvl 15, but it also means he'll evolve faster once he's a Metapod.

Uh, Butterfree is more of a Special attacker and Mezzer. Bug Bite at the cost of not learning Confusion or the Powder techniques probably won't be worth it.

Yay! Loophole earns Zinc a Dratini [Not yet bought as I need a nickname]! Yay gamespots, childrens card games and hours of monotonous grinding!

Also, ??? has a point. Butterfree is better when it's putting thing to sleep than trying to be a striker. I'd recommend Pidgey for the job. Give him roost and he'll make an awesome tag team with Geodude [The synergy makes the two of them my favourite commons]. They saved my ass many times back when I had just obtained Blue and continue to do so to this day.

Status Update:

I've discovered two things. I hate grinding and will even risk my pokemon's lives so that I don't have to spend hours just to get them a couple levels over the Gym leader's pokemon [with type advantage, I'll even risk being under leveled].

Also, Pursuit is worse than Hitler.

Why?

Given that this is a Nuzlocke thread and Pursuit is an attack best aimed at an escaping weakened pokemon, somebody got killed. And the rest is emotions.

Two in a row [against completely different pokemon, within an hour of each other] got killed actually, but yeah.

Though more hyperbole than emotions. I'm actually surprised how mellow I am when a lot of the pokemon die. Only Ol' Smokes was hard to bury [I kinda considered dropping out to save him].

Cityface and Brunhild are the only two I'm really attached to [Though Rey is growing on me]. The feeling was that it was a bit of a waste. I sorta expected it to be a bit more heart-rending.

Evolved Eli anyway, I'm not waiting till 16/17 to get a Butterfree.

Caught a Bellsprout! Named him Mitch. My team has an enormous Flying weakness, and the one holding everything together is George the Geodude. He covers Flying, Fire, and Electric, who would murder everyone else.

And Aragog the Spinarak can now beat down Bellsprouts, Hoppips, and Rattatas on his own, making grinding him much simpler.
