Yeah, she really did not care for Peter's personality, the romance with Liz Allen, calling it cringe, and really didn't like nerdy Gwen.

Man, with all the different adaptations, lots of new fans are going to be in for a shock looking at the older stuff.

Geez, Wells apparently could only manage 19 pages of story content this week for ASM according to people who have the book. There's some Peter and MJ interaction, and the lawyer Michelle shows up for a couple of pages, gets mad at Peter, and storms off again...erm, OK?

Over in Jackpot and BC Peter only gets one mention in MJ's thoughts, and we do get to see Felicia's new girlfriend.

Yes, the very Dikto-Peter has its downsides.

Modern geeks realize they don't have to be isolated and uncool.

Oh, one other thing, in Jackpot/BC The mystery villain threatens to kill Paul if MJ doesn't help them pull off a heist

So now they're trying to hook you into the book by teasing that something bad will happen to the guy nobody likes, his pain is our gain

One thing she did find interesting was that Peter having to go through financial troubles and trying to find a job.

But otherwise, she did not vibe with the show, and just prefers Miles. So she had more fun playing the Miles Morales Spider-Man game.

Like, she actually prefers Miles having friends who knows what he's doing, like Ganke.

I will say I found Spectacular Peter to be pretty cringe, as in, the show literally uses cringe comedy and that's one thing that's incredibly hard for me to watch.

I don't think it's a particularly accurate Peter Parker either, not a good introduction to the character.

Ultimate Spider-Man#3

Peter defeats his first crook, Bullseye, with the help of Green Goblin Harry, they both learn one another's identities and agree to have drinks together

Specifically, Harry interfaces with and overrides Peter's costume to unmask him. Implying that either Tony chose Harry as another hero and equipped him with the same tech, or that Harry has Stark tech from the days when Howard Stark was working with the Maker.

Two scenarios that could have very different outcomes.

Peter and Harry's reactions to finding out each other's secrets being to just go out drinking together is great.

They fight crime and tend to Aunt Anna. No appearance or mention of Paul (he's in the MJ/BC mini though), Peter and MJ discuss life on a rooftop and Peter says it wasn't easy to move on from her. MJ reveals it took her a long time to do the same. Lots of sexual tension between them. At Aunt Anna's house they compliment their teamwork together, Peter says there's good reason to do it again, but MJ reckons the way they are right now, it probably isn't a good idea, indicating they're still in love

Over in superior spider-man. otto takes over baileys body and says he will be the superior spider-boy

His standards have really slipped

It’s funny how Superior basically gave Otto the gimmick of mind swapping and then turning it into a joke.

So much for trying to give him a major villain scheme to overshadow Green Goblin.

This time at least he took over spiders-man and swarmed over Bailey and took him over like that

Like even given Slott’s remarks about wanting to make Otto a worse villain than Norman, he did end the first Superior by having Otto completely give up and put Peter back in the cockpit when faced with a Green Goblin on a roll

Maybe it's just Slott's love of Otto in general, but I feel like deep down Slott really wishes he could've somehow had Otto be Spider-Man permanently. Or that he could write Peter the way he writes Otto, namely as more like Pre-OMD-Flanderization Peter where he could be and often was a major Jerkass who treated the people in his life terribly but still ultimately tried to do the right thing despite himself and managed to carve out a real family through character development.

I honestly doubt it

No, it's the other way around. Superior was meant to be longer, such that the first Spider-Verse event was meant to star Otto not Peter. He had to end Superior early because of the movie.

Some meddling actually worked in reader's favor, huh? That era hit Arc Fatigue, and dunno how much worse it would have been if Slott's plans went through.

Honestly,if Otto had any sense,he'd take over Norman's body. He'd be rich and powerful as he could ever dream,that way.

I can easily see how a kid whose first contact with Spider-Man have been Miles in Spider-verse, or even MCU Peter, not jiving with that show.
I once showed it to a bunch of relatives, those whose first contact with Spider-Man had been the Raimy movie (and the one kids who knew the comics) generally liked it more than the rest.
Interestingly the one comic-saavy kid explained the difference between OG 616 Gwen, post flanderisation OG 616 Gwen, Spider Man 3 Gwen, Spider Gwen, and Spider-verse Spider Gwen. She was the one character who confused them the most since the different version have so little to do with each other.

Gwen is pretty much the Anthropomorphic Personification of characters whose history can be summed up as "writers throwing shit at the wall to find out what sticks because the original version sucked so bad".

Even when 616 Gwen was given a miniseries a few years ago...she was basically written more like a Nancy Drew style character rather than like OG Gwen.

Just barely into my new issue of Ultimate Spider-Man, and I feel like Hickman is more invested in the relationship between Jameson and Uncle Ben, than MJ and Peter.
