So Star Fox Zero from what I hear is technically a remake of a remake of a remake.

If this was a reboot, I really hope they don't remove Krystal. Because I think she has potential on being a well developed character. Make it so she's inexperienced in technology and flying planes, but on foot, she is skilled in close combat, and martial arts. She is a psychic, so maybe she can predict when danger is coming, ala Spider Senses. As a character with personality, I imagine her being like Starfire from Teen Titans, where she doesn't know everything on regular social behavior, but she does want to learn about the social experience. As a love interest to Fox, Fox could be the one to teach Krystal about technology and how to fly a ship, being sort of like a teacher to her. Plus, I do want to see most of her backstory, since it was barely touched upon. Maybe her planet is still alive, as well as most of her people, but is slowly dying, and they have to find a way to save the planet.

In fact, I want to know the backstory on many of these characters. I would like to know more about Star Wolf and why Wolf is so obsessed over Fox, the relationship between Katt and Falco, Fox's mother (Seriously, ever notice how they never talked about her in these games, Pigma's motivation for betraying the original team, and so on and so forth. I would also like to see Miyu and Fay from Star Fox 2, and if they do have to bring some characters from Command, at least give Lucy Hare a cameo, so it's not surprising that Peppy has a daughter.

If they want to restart after the travesty that was Command, go ahead. But, I do want to see more characters expanded and would like to know more about the universe. I'm just hoping for something good.

They said it isn't a remake, prequel, or sequel.

They said it just exists in the Star Fox universe.

Star Fox Zero is rebooting into an AU. The plot seems to be the same as the original's and 64's but the stages are largely different and the original continuity still exists if someone wants to continue it. Miyamoto himself said that it's not a sequel, prequel, or remake.

[up][up] So is it non canon? I am totally confused. Canon or non canon, my opinions remain the same.

It's an AU. Simple as that. It exists in its own canon.

It's a redoing of Star Fox/Star Fox 64, but Miyamoto doesn't care about story enough to say what that actually means in terms its relation to the other existing games.

[up][up] Ok, an alternate universe. Fine by me. Although, I'd rather have them go all the way, like pull a Megaman (spinoff, I mean), and give it a new gameplay style (RPG, platformer, FPS), and give it a vastly different artstyle. (I can see this having the style of Ginga Densetsu Weed, or Solatorobo, or even give it a western cartoon look)

Ya know what I dislike about flat characters with fans? Fans either fanon their personality or imagine how they would like their personality to be with such excitement they forget there wasn't personality originally tongue

Like seriously, why do Krystal fans so eagerly want a game centered around her? <_<

...I wonder how much money it would be to buy rights on Dinosaur planet stuff from Nintendo xD

I'm a Krystal fan and I don't want a game centered around her. I just want her to keep appearing.

@Spooky Mask For me, it's because you know there is a story and you know there is a character somewhere, that the original creators didn't put in. The only fanon in this series (as well as any series, unless the creators had the guts to put in a gay couple) I don't agree with are the Yaoi shippers. Yes, there are people who ship Fox and Falco. I blame the fact that we don't have a lot of female characters in these games. We don't even have a female villain yet. (not counting the aparoid queen)

And I'd prefer the story to move on from Assault/command, rather than go all Endless 8 with regard to the war with Andross.

Eh, I'd like a reboot if it meant including Star Fox 2 stuff xD Like Star Wolf designs, Wolf's scar was pretty awesome

You know, I remember the true fight against Andross being really hard. Like, no matter what, I could just barely win and I never fought him as a kid since I could never beat him.

I just fought him and, once I remember his weak point was on the back, the fight ended very quickly in a hail of Hyper Laser fire.

Those medal requirements are absolutely brutal, though.

EDIT: That's the first time I've heard General Pepper go "Whaaaaat?" at the bill. Naturally, this is the first time my score has broken 1,000.

[up]The original game's Andross fight was pretty nasty too. While the concept was the same (you're fighting a giant face that blows objects at you, shoots lasers at random, and has his weakspot in his eyes), the Venom hard route switched things up. His true weakspot, a Cube Core with his face on it, would (sometimes) shoot back, move erratically, and had some armor on it's top and bottom to protect it. And when his face reconstructed itself, it would take the visage of some demon-like creature that now shot plasma balls from the eyes, in addition to the domino-like objects he's constantly blowing around.

The saving graces was that he actually couldn't eat your ship when sucking back in all the dominoes, nor did he have the floating hands that appear in the N64 fight.

There's a video of it here, if you're curious.

It was hard enough that while I managed to beat the Easy Route Andross sometime in 2nd or 3rd grade, I only managed to defeat the hard route sometime in my later middle school years or Freshman highschool. The entirety of planet Macbeth and the Great Commander warship (especially it's 2nd and 3rd forms were a huge reason why.

@Spooky: Personally, I prefer them making a game continuing off the ending to Command where Krystal becomes a bounty hunter by the name of "Kursed".

The ending in question is "Star Wolf Returns", for those curious.

You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!

God, that "Kursed" ending escaped from the darkest pits of the 90s, I tell you what.

Kind of hilarirous that the default end is a Bad End.

I was also amused to find that command's map system probably comes from Star Fox 2, the way Zero's walker mode is.

Star Fox 2 did it way better, though. What I really hated in Command was that you only had a finite number of turns you could do, and if you ran out, Game Over.

So what say you on the visuals of SF Zero? Apparently, many are saying that they are bad.

Also, how long do the think the game should be. Many are raging on Game Faqs that the game's gonna be about two hours long. Honestly though, is that a bad thing if they include alternate routes and the like?

Sterok Since: Apr, 2012

Looks like someone is going to last an even shorter time than I thought.

What do you think the ideal length should be? Obviously expecting a 20 hour campaign would be wrong for various reasons, but do we want a 10 hour campaign similar to Bayonetta? About 5 hours? 2 hours with many, many alternate routes allowing for lots of replayability?

LDragon2 Since: Dec, 2011
#396: Jun 19th 2015 at 10:10:11 PM

BTW, the link about it being two hours is here.

Needless to say, all the users at Game Faqs are raging at the top of their lungs about this, the visuals, and lack of online multiplayer

Personally, as long as there are branching paths, then I don't mind if it's short. SF 64 was also around two hours long, and it had staying power due to the multiple routes.

I kind of liked the board game-iness of Command. I played some missions over and over for a while. It was nice moving everybodu around, intercepting enemies, and being right on top of bases. And having new ships to pilot.

The short, but multi-path campaign is essentially what the first two games played like. So I'm really confused as to why Gamefaqs, AKA the site with a huge love for old-school Nintendo games (especially Zelda) is whining about that.

But then again, just as one of the other Tropers noted, it's Gamefaqs, and they'll get their pants up in a knot on almost anything due to nostalgia.

I mean, a typical seven mission run-through of 64 takes only about a half-hour, tops...
