Does the weight and density of the elements come into play as well?

I'm currently using Write A Story For my first attempt at creative writing. My current idea: Physical embodiments of the Periodic Elements interacting with each other.
The elements' characteristics and personalities would be based on aspects from the periodic table. The plot importance of each element would be roughly correlated to their real life quantities, with Carbon being the central/viewpoint character.
The over-arching goal of the elements would be to create organic life. The actual chapters and story arches would revolve around themes that are parallel to the nature of the elements.
This being my first story, I expect most of it to be the worst So Okay, It's Average crap imaginable. Hopefully judicious use of Sturgeon's Law with let me prune poor chapters from the Canon as I learn to write fiction.
I like to pick up heavy things and put them down.
