^Whaaat?

Leveling LFD is a rollercoaster of free loot with an occasional ninja at worst.

On top level, the comparison doesn't exist because companions won't pull enough weight in there.

sometimes.

sometimes its free loot, sometimes you get 3 idiots who care nothing about your existence, roll need on everything they possibly can, get themselves killed in horrifyingly dumb manners, and blame the healer for their incompetence.

[up] Playing as a guild-less tank or healer in any MMORPG is an exercise in masochism. For guild-less dps, its an exercise of "OMFG, I am sitting in this queue for like hour already. Why doesn't anyone play tanks or healer? They must suck so much".

^^They are rare. Leave, requeue, go around you business until it pops again. Companions won't do the whole instance for you.

And it ain't better to get the same guys after spending an hour spamming global chats tongue

Had an amusing moment in the Esseles flashpoint last night. I pug'd into a group with two other people and it turned out that both of them were going dark side. My Jedi Shadow was as lightside as they come.

He won both of the alignment dialog rolls, thus saving the engineers AND the ambassador. We had joked after the first time that there was no way it could happen again. Truly, the force was with him.

Teammates were cool with it since they were really just interested in getting the alignment points regardless of how the mission swung.

So there I was, at my friends house, and he let me create an alt on his account. I'm still bitter about SWG dying, but I give it a whirl.

Made a cyborg butt-ugly smuggler. Ooo, scars. Yeah, full-facila scars, justify the implants and crap. Wow, nice graphics. La la la, noob-world Ord Mantell (fond memories of doing the ISD run and grinding high-level Imperial ships for the Tier-5 badge in SWG in the Ord Mantell star system) and listening to some long-haired hipster qhine about guns.

Run around, getting used to the WONKY camera system, figuring out that the hot bar is pretty much the only way to attack and that diving behind cover is pretty much the only thing I'll be doing.

Ooo, choices that MATTER? Hey, neat. So, the quests feel less linear than SWG, while the world itself feels more linear. Wierd, man. Grabbed my companion hipster guy, found out that whatshername is working for the other guy, but didn't get to finish it all up and get my ship back.

Not sure if I'll commit to getting it or not. I'm not missing the monthly subscription thing, since SWG went away.

LFD is only a problem when its cross server.

Waiting at the space station in general going "L 4 G MANDALORIANS" for 40 minutes is not my idea of "community building" especially since thats 40 minutes you could have spent doing missions.

A server wide "looking for dungeon" chat channel would have worked too.

Agreed. But the early missions are pretty easy to find help for atm, and I'm absolutely adoring the consular plotline. Hell, their 1-10 plot is pretty much why I REFUSE t6o use a different lightsaber than her initial one. (and therefore why I went sage)

For those who havent played it and are curious why I love it Consular starts off pretty slowly with you recovering some random holocrons for safekeeping. only to find the one dark side one is missing. You embark on a lovely cross-zone quest to find who took it and why eventually leading you to ancient lore secrets about the founders of the Jedi Council, and eventually, to the prototype blade which all lightsabers descend from. at the Climax, after meeting with the force ghost of the first Jedi to ever turn "sith", you make a pilgrimage to the original weapons forge of the Jedi, and in a lovely in-engine cutscene, turn the hilt of the First Blade into your own personal Orange Quality Lightsber, holding it aloft as it glows green with the hum of a saber blade. Its a suitably epic start to the career of one "chosen" by the force

I'm a Consular that still went double-bladed. But I put my original blade in the vault for safe keeping.

I really love being a lightside sith. "I live to serve the people." "Yes, but usually in a more "choke people to death-way, right?"

what amuses me most about lightside sith is how many republic players are surprised when they find out Light side doesnt mean "I love the republic"

also, got my second consular companion. Poor Qyzen just got replaced. Cuz companion 2 is a Infinite MP Healbot

Jedi Knight is basically the same saber wise, except you get the parts in a different matter.

Speaking of sabers I haven't found a saber I really like looks wise past the first saber. Playing a Sentinel you get a matching saber to the original one so I just roll with that.

You will never love a women as much as George Lucas hates his fans.

Lightside as an Agent seems to alternate between Doing Your Duties to the Empire (Light) vs. Working for Your Personal Profit and Defying Your Orders (Dark) to Do What You Know to be Right (Light) v. Obeying your Orders to the Letter (Dark).

Yeah, pretty much. Its more about respect for the high minded ideals of the laws and having a moral code that you dont allow emotional outbursts to cloud.

My light side Inquisitor has some interesting philosophical discussions sometimes, to justify his decisions to the other Sith. "Victory will break your chains" right? Then I'm free to do what I want, and if I want to have mercy then I'll do it. Sticking to "kill everyone because I can" just because of tradition is just putting another form of chains on yourself.

I also managed to convince an NPC Jedi to do something by being more lightside than him.

That's an interesting justification for showing mercy as a Sith. It reminds me of a conversation from Baccano between two Ax-Crazy murderers, one of whom is a Psycho for Hire who just revels in killing people and the other of whom is a vigilante serial killer who targets people out of an extreme sense of justice.

The first guy is disgusted that the second holds to some sense of morality and doesn't kill everyone who crosses him. He takes this as a sign of weakness. The second responds that it's his absolute, unwavering confidence in his own strength that affords him that luxury - he considers himself invincible, so he has no fear of sparing his enemies whenever he feels like it. "Mercy and compassion are virtues that only the strong are privileged to possess. And I... am strong."

Well, to be fair Killing indiscriminately just to show off your power is a sign you're weak mentally.

From what I remember, Ladd just likes killing people. It's not about showing off his power. The man is completely badshit insane (but while simultaneously being Awesome.)

Someone actually took my review from Metacritic (or here) and posted it as his own!

And since I dont own the game I can't post and call him out on it...

Can someone post in that thread and say something like "Hey at least give credit to the review http://www.metacritic.com/user/Thorn14"

Not listed. I just want to see one of you guys post on the thread proof he stole it from me (even if he does agree) so I can get a good laugh.

I also have a bit more to say to the other people in that thread telling him (and by proxy me) to "go back to World Of Warcraft"

I dont suppose a bro would be up for that? grin
