Yeah, the third episode wasn't as good as the first two episodes. I think it's because Lion-O is a completely different character at the start of this episode, it's almost as if he switched places with Tigra.
Cheetara needs to know her place and keep quiet while kicking ass, because "those were my teacher's last words to us" made me cringe.
And what was up with "thanks to you we have our home back"? Sure that monsterous thing exploded with gallons of water pouring out, but it didn't really look like it dumped a lasting lake there, just a big puddle of water slowly evaporating under the scorching sun.
This was just a weird third episode after an awesome first two.
I think Lion-O behavior makes sense. Now that they are able to breathe a little, he's started to grieve over his father's death and wants vengeance. It also makes sense he didn't want to bring the kittens along at first. Book of Omens or Mumm-Ra, they were heading into terrible danger. A good leader wouldn't want to risk innocent children in a situation like that.
A lot of this episode felt like it was rushed somehow. We start out with some nice characterization but aas soon as we reach the ocean, or whatever it was, everyone else stops mattering, though we do get a couple of scences with the kittens. We saw Wilykit and Kat find their new outfits but Tygra shows up wearing the Doom Marine's armour without any fanfare or explanation.
It also seems that after the invasion EVERYONE left. Is it normal to conquer a city and then just leave it in ruins? Isn't the idea generally to take it for yourself?
In related news: I totally knew Jaga wasn't dead!

It seems more like they razed the city, rather than tried to conquer it. Kill everyone and destroy everything. Remove the blight of your enemies from the planet. Its a viable strategy, especially if you want to crush morale of those that would rise against you afterward. Especially if the razed city had a significant claim to fame or defense.
I'm gonna say it: those two kids from last night's episode were my favorite characters. I wanted them to stick around. Yeah, I said it.
I've never been a big fan of Thundercats, though, so I don't know if I'll continue to enjoy it. But for what it's worth, I thought it was a'ight.
"Religion isn't the cause of wars, it's the excuse." —Mycroft NextI believe all the Thunderians were either killed (like all of the military), enslaved, or escaped like the Thundercats did, and I assume very few escaped at all. We may end up seeing Thunderians slaves to the lizards or Mumm-Ra at some point. I was actually expecting Grune to act as ruler with Lizards occupying Thundera, but I guess not.
but given the only thing left of the city is ruin I don't think anyone would want to rule a kingdom of broken rock
Eventual Inferred Holocaust, perhaps?
Except that most buildings are still standing and mostly whole. Heck, the one the lizards loot at the beginning is only a mess inside, it looks almost pristine outside.
It was pretty razed for cartoon standards...
I mean, if they showed absolute destruction, then where would the survivors be?
In those ravine-like slums we saw in the beginning and never saw again?
Taken prisonner/enslaved by Mumm-ra? (He did grab Jaga).
On vacation?
The opening monologue by Jaga makes it clear Lion-O eventually leads his people against Mumm-Ra, so clearly there must be survivors. The engraving with the prophecy shows armies of thundarans. Ergo, no total razing, less the book of Omens means "His people" to refer "those 4 dudes"

Is it just me or does Mum-ra look like a lizardman from certain angles?
A low-class man will just talk; deeds are the hallmark of a gentlemanUnless Lion-O rallies all people, cat and otherwise, against the evils of Mumm-Ra.
I have a message from another time...I got it in my head he is a mummified lizard.
They see me BROLIN, they HATIN'.would't it be funny if the original slythe was chosen to be the original Mumm-ras's replacement? Yeah me neither.
A low-class man will just talk; deeds are the hallmark of a gentlemanIDK he looks more like a bat to me. No offense to bats.
With the power of a dragon I can make up for my inability to spill.None taken.
Next episode is the one with the Petalars, the little plant people. I could smell the Moby Dick plot a mile away just from the preview image IGN posted a month ago, but I have no idea what they'll be doing with tiny plant people. Do a Gulliver's Travels? I really hope not. Ripping off classic literature is very unbecoming.
I went ahead and listened to the original Thundercats theme song for the first time.
OMG.
The intro was the BEST part about the show. A) Coz the song is great. B) Coz the animation is actually good, unlike most of the show proper.
There's a trope for that.
With the power of a dragon I can make up for my inability to spill. It's funny how it's the opposite for the new show.
We'll get a real opening after Panthro joins. The creators just wanted to avoid a Spoiler Opening.
how much longer are they holding off on him?
With the power of a dragon I can make up for my inability to spill. Two episodes from now is an episode entitled "Old Friends".
Just a hunch...
I have a message from another time...
Missed the premier but watched tonight's episode for lulz. A few thoughts.
