How To Write A Misogynist Character?

With out you yourself looking misogynistic?

Make sure he is not the Author Avatar or delivering Author Tract.

That won't stop idiot "critics" from saying that they are Author Tracts though.

Actually, I want to know that myself, since I have a misogynist in one of my ensemble casts and I'm not sure how obvious is too obvious and how subtle is not subtle enough.

Make sure you let it on that you're doing this tongue-in-cheek; like having other characters with more sensible values. It is like making a straw feminist, or fundamentalist — except you're packing him with slightly more than the usual 100% Kidding(R) straw.

Is it a bad guy or a good guy?

If it's a good guy have him be real conservative.

If it's a bad guy, then it shouldn't be too hard, just make him go all "women sux lol gtfo and back in the kitchen" and all that shit.

If it's a bad guy who is supposed to be barely sympathetic, look here (or somewhere with a similar name, I don't exactly remember where)

What the Hell, Hero?. Something certain sexist characters tend to not get in certain forms of media —cough El Goonish Shive cough—

What the Hell, Hero? is what you need. You need to call them out for their bullshit. Have your characters hate him appropriately. Some might be more fine with it than others, but there will definitely be some who are down right PISSED.

Life On Mars, if the character is a hero (or on the side of the good guys). he's (Gene Hunt) not a complete mysoginistic, though. But he has tendencies. Big Tendencies. As Sam Tyler is supposed to be our surrogate, he mocks him and tells him he's wrong. And that's the gist of it, really. Have other characters notice how wrong he is.

It's a site by love-shy guys.

The internet tends not to look kindly on their lots.

I recall the forums of a site that has a similar name (or that site itself, idk) having "nice guys" bitching about how the "slutty girls" wouldn't pay them with sex whenever they did their "nice" shit while complaining about the "jerks" that dared to treat women like people instead of goddesses of submission.

There was another site called "Bitches alliance" or something to that effect that actively calls out these faux-Nice Guys rather harshly.

The moral of this story is, if you cannot find a girl, man it up and do not complain. You will just make a fool of yourself and paint a red bullseye on your forehead before the populace of the 'net.

Well I admit that anyone who ever carved the word    bitch    into a dead hooker likely wasn't get any in a the time I wouldn't say that being bad with women put you there yet.

Anyway my character was an ex military police who after he was dear johned and later loss his job to a literally retarded woman thanks Positive Discrimination and nepotism developed serious issues with women.

You know, from what I've seen, most people who discriminate against people don't do it because of one or two isolated incidents. They do it because of lack of contact with said form of person they are discriminating against.

But not all.

Important distinction there.

Obviously, but nowadays, there always seems to be a Freudian Excuse involved. No one is ever just a dick because they are a dick. No one ever has the flaw because they are flawed. It must be justified somehow. In all honesty, it would take a huge ass Freudian Excuse to justify something like a prejudice, and in the end, it really doesn't justify shit, especially when someone would be surrounded by thousands of positive examples.

Naturally. Those are people who are really putting the 'excuse' in Freudian Excuse, and for the most part, are still part of the 'bigots because they are bigoted' and really not so much of what the OP was describing.

The OP's character pretty much sounds like he had an Ass Pull forced upon him to force him to lose his job.

Seriously, losing his job to a retarded woman just because of Positive Discrimination?

No he blames it on Positive Discrimination the real reason he got the sack was that he's both corrupt and incompetent.

How a mentally handicapped women got his job is another story.
